Man the voice acting this episode was just so damn good. Toya/Dabi screaming "ENDEAVORRRRR," Shoto begging his Dad to stand up and fight for everyones sake, and Endeavor himself acknowledging how much pain he's in before being completely broken down by Toya's reveal. Everything was so tense!

Imagine being Shoto through all this. You’ve endured years of abuse, started to move forward with your dad, and then your brother (who you thought had died a horrible death) shows up and basically outright says “I’m going to kill you just to get back at Dad.” Then your brother comes at you, your dad, and your two friends with the intent to burn you all alive. It was so emotional to see him beg his dad to protect his friends while saying that he’ll be the one to face his brother. I have so much respect for Shoto Todoroki here. Despite everything he must be going through in this moment, this 16-year-old was a true hero.
He is the most innocent person in this entire situation as well and it makes me so mad that he has to go through all of this
@@HarpyLady That's among the worst part of this, while Dabi mainly blames Endeavor, he blames everyone else too, including his whole family, including all his younger siblings. Shoto is blameless in this, but Dabi's not going to see it that way.

When I first read c 390, I was so nervous about how Shoto would react, particularly if he were to shrink back like Endeavor did. But the boy went above and beyond what I expected (including in future chapters that'll be adapted soon). He's the true beacon of hope for his family.

Shoto and Dabi's voice actors really brought it this episode. Seeing Todoroki screaming and begging his dad to stand up, while tears were coming down his face made my heart break. It's a rare sight whenever we get to see Shoto show his emotions.

Shoto finally calling Endeavor "dad" in the middle of having an emotional breakdown hits different when its given animation and voice acting. Not much action this episode, but thats fine because it gave some of the VA's time to really shine.

Even though nearly everyone already figured Dabi was Toya, it was still revealed splendidly and executed very well.
I think what set it off even though it was hinted at for years is the reactions of the characters who were blind sided. They didn't have the info the audience had so it was still just as impact full to feel the shock of Endeavor, Shoto, and the rest of the people

I just feel so bad for Shoto. My boy didn't deserve to through all of that. And he was just starting to heal too and now everything is coming back and his personal past and trauma is being shared ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. He really can't catch a break and holy shit did his voice actor really shine this episode. His crying and screaming near the end was GOD TIER voice acting!
Trueee. Also, it's so saddening that the brother he wants to save tried to kill him multiple times. Dabi thinks that shoto is reason why he is suffering since their father made him feel that way, that shoto is the right one and not him. Truly saddening, I feel bad for them😭💔
yea that's what hurts so bad since he probably wasnt old enough to even understand why touya died only to have him show up looking like this AND saying that he planned to kill shouto the whole time. he's just being punched on every side really 😭

Endeavor straight up had proof of his child abuse shown for all of Japan to see. He forced his wife into marriage, forced her to have kids, beat his children, and even had one of his kids supposedly die only to come back as one of the biggest villains running around. Of course anyone would start doubting him lol

Yeah they added some nice touches like with Dabi cuffing his ears to symbolically hear the doubts of the citizens. Also the VAs popped off with Dabi and Shoto in particular.

Finally. This scene is being animated. The reveal was so much more epic than it seemed in the manga.
I'm surprised Lupa didn't figure it out, I mean it was quite obvious to figure it out. Dabi identity, his flame abilities, and most importantly his eyes. I'm anime only and I figured it out quite fast due to his eyes shape, and their color, whilst later Toya the oldest brother is kept secret. That just confirms it, surprised Lupa never caught onto it. Only Todorokis have those eyes.
if not because of people keep posting theories on ytb i wouldnt relize that too. like if you dont try making that connection then you wont see it, but once you got a glimpse of it it becomes so obvious that it turns into a fact

Little side note, in the manga, Toga never explains the big thing about Jin. Which is why Ochako is so confused. Because she's not exactly sure why she's talking to her. But she instantly regrets shutting her down once she sees that she was crying. And it pushes her to question why Toga was upset. Which is why the anime having Toga mention her reason for being upset last episode kinda takes away from Ochako's confusion and trying to understand Toga. Toga does love Ochako the same way she loves Stain and Izuku. So essentially, one of her crushes didn't get what she was trying to convey. Which has to suck.
When this reveal happened in the manga, it actually out trended the literal US election. Dabi is built different.
Also, it's really funny how Shigaraki gave that speech a few episodes ago about how heroes will destroy their families and Endeavor completely ignored him. Only for one of the biggest examples of him being selfish and destroying his own family to appear. Endeavor is trying to improve, yes. But that doesn't mean his past actions just go away. He added fuel to that poor boy's flames and then tossed him aside once he realized he wasn't the perfect child he wanted to create. And now, Touya will reduce everything to ash. Him and Skeptic pulled through with the tag team of the century.
Endeavors "YOU ARE THE FATHER" moment is priceless.

But Dabi’s dance was great I was terrified at the end almost in tears as shoto cried for his dad and then relieved when best jeanist arrived. This season has been fantastic so far

No one lied to Endeavor. He saw the fires generated by Toya losing control over his Quirk and searched the peak where he trained for days trying to find his son. All they found was an incinerated piece of his jaw bone. It was completely natural for Endeavor to think that his son burned to death in that!
