Ok the voice actors for Dabi and Shoto went INSANE!! I mean I shouldn't be surprised like with how much range they have and how much expression they put into it cause the voice actors both voiced characters like Zenitsu from demon slayer (Dabi's VA) as well as like Eren from AOT and Kenma from Haikyuu (Shoto's VA) but holy crap they popped off!!
I hate how long it took me to notice that Dabi's seiyuu is also Zen's and Connie's, but i think it's because he's been more tame this entire time so he never hit that higher register that Zen and Connie usually are in.

Man, this was inarguably my favorite episode of this season. I love how My Hero makes me care deeply for its characters. I'm not one to cry, but that final sequence with Toya and Shoto as kids had some tears welling up.
the first part of Dabi's body to burn were his tear ducts...... one of the first things he thought of when he woke up was apologizing to his mom and Shoto.....

ALSO, the voice actor for Shoto, whenever he talks about Toya, he is STILL adding the -nii suffix to his name. Shoto STILL considers Toya to be his brother, even though he can see the monster he has become.

I can't imagine how Dabi feels being treated as a failure by both the villains and his own hero family as just a child when he was groomed to only want approval from others. Dabi is the best character in MHA and the Todoroki storyline is the best in the series - I hope we see more Dabi in the future!!

The art direction is actually looking mad nice. We just gotta hope they call in like Yutaka Nakamura or some of the big dogs for the last couple important fights later on and we might have a 10/10 end of the series.

Actually in the manga, it says, the facility didn’t actually burn down to the ground, it was just a fire that could be brought down easily because at the time his flames were so weak. In order to keep his secret hidden, the doctor blamed the fire on sunny. Because the fire wasn’t that serious and nobody was hurt, the hero’s didn’t look in to it, which is a shame because if they did, maybe things would turn out differently from today.

The fight was amazing. But honestly the flashback stuff with Touya was sad as well. We see even after everything Endeavor did, Touya was still willing to put his feelings of hurt aside and just go back home and apologize. Endeavor kept telling Touya to give up on his ambitions because it would only hurt Touya. But Endeavor himself never gave up on that dream. He kept trying to have children to make the "perfect kid". Then Touya literally exploded and burned alive because of the emotional and psychological trauma he went through because of Endeavor's ambitions. And even after all that, Endeavor didn't stop. Touya came home and saw that Endeavor had just gotten worse. While he was alive, Touya couldn't change anything. And even in death, Touya couldn't change anything. His father didn't learn anything. It's like his very existence was meaningless. So if Touya didn't have any meaning, he would be burned to ash and be reborn as Dabi. With flames so hot even the Demon Lord himself couldn't control them. I also love that Dani started to burn through the All Might statue. Because living up to that impossible ideal and his father's envy are what tore their family apart to begin with. And once again Dabi acknowledges again that he and the League are the accumulation of everything wrong with Hero Society. Their pain was created because of the failures of society. Which makes it even more fitting that Dabi begins to burn down the literal symbol of hero society.
I won't spoil but Endeavor was changed a little bit by Toya. Endeavor was blinded by his ambition but he really does love his family. This will hopefully be touched on a bit more in the future but I won't go into anymore detail.
I always live when they switch to black/white with just line work in anime. Seeing young Toya instead of dabi taking the hit made me tear up. 10/10 ep

I really wanted Shoto to do that really big BOOM from the sports festival against Izuku. It would have been cool to see how much stronger he had gotten by comparing it to one of his previous coolest moves.
The final Agni Kai between Shoto and Touya begins now. The clashing of two brothers quite literally separated by their father’s villainy. I’ve been saying this a lot lately, but it’s honestly super sad that Shoto feels the need to carry all of the family’s hardships on his back when none of this should really be his responsibility. Unfortunately, Endeavor spent the last month or so completely neglecting Shoto and Touya, so he’s gonna have to fight All for One now instead, which sucks since Touya seems to really want to talk to him instead of Shoto, and I can’t say I blame him. Still though, I hope that Shoto can get through to Touya in some way. Touya may not want to admit it, bit they’re more alike than he thinks. Something I can’t say enough is how I couldn’t imagine being in Touya’s place in those flashbacks. Like, he burned himself up, and the next thing he knew he was several years older and looked completely different and had a different voice. And then he went home, only to realize that his father had essentially just continued on. All of Touya’s fears had essentially come to life then. What’s worse is that if Endeavor had just learned his lesson after Touya “died,” Dabi wouldn’t have been born when Touya returned home.
A. COLD FLAMES IS AMAZINGLY EPIC!!🤩🤩
B. I like to think that the cold is Shoto and Toya’s mother reaching out to him. Hugging his pained flames to rest. 😭😭

I know Endeavor is a large part in the creation of Dabi as a person, but AFO kidnapping him would make me pissed if I was Endeavor cause he would’ve found him alive or dead. Either way, not a villain years later burning the country.

Dabi is literally too angry to die💀
The depths of Dabi’s past truly feel like descending into hell.
Garaki finally speaks up on one of the biggest conundrums among the villains. Dabi ALWAYS had special treatment. And while them knowing he was Endeavor’s son, they for some reason had absolute faith in him to take command of the vanguard action squad in the camp attack. They assigned Nomu especially to him, they gave him Hood the 1st High End, and just a VARIETY of other special treatments. But to watch AFO step up in the tremendous forest fire was one of the SINGLE most haunting panels in the manga. Y’know. Aside watching Touya just intentionally burn himself away. The man in the hat appeared in a panel removed in season 5, and the orphanage decorations appeared in a panel removed from season 4. There’s little pieces put together. But I can’t speak on those yet.
Touya woke up in this orphanage run by Garaki. His body modified. His voice changed. And staring down those taken by AFO 3 WHOLE YEARS later. A fate VERY similar to Shigaraki. But Touya was out of control. He had not completely severed his desire to be with his family. And his unending drive to be taught by Endeavor.
Slight correction. Touya did not burn this orphanage down. Mr Sunny did out of fear of being discovered. And the people who lived there were moved to another facility. They did go over in the season 6 opening episode that Garaki had a variety of orphanages, hospitals, and other covered buildings. In reality it was just another home in AFO’s empire. These people were like AFO’s ingredients to make something new. What we don’t know, since there’s possibilities of Nomu ingredients, and other creations we know they’ve made. But considering the special treatment and the desire to maintain Touya’s anger and hatred…that screams something VERY different.
And then to have the proof when he returned things just didn’t improve. Shoto was getting “trained” and Rei was now in the hospital. And he even prayed at his own grave knowing he truly was gone from this family.
He came to this fight wanting to end it all. And burn everything his family had built to the ground and take them with him. And we see what a prime adult Dabi can REALLY do. This isn’t a show like he was doing in front of Endeavor in Season 6 trying to have him take a good look at what Dabi is and his intentions. This time he’s going all out. With enough fire to burn down the city, he’s figured out EVERY of Endeavor’s ultimate moves but they are hotter and sloppier. Literally punching Shoto through skyscrapers and trying to take away the one thing he truly believed Endeavor wanted.
But Shoto shows off his cold flames to survive. Again I’ll state that Shoto IS now capable of using fire and ice from both sides using his heart as the valve. (So we AREN’T doing the avatar lightning rules of don’t let it cross your heart.) This is his way of keeping himself from burning like Touya and the flamin sidekickers can only do so much protecting Shoto as they DON’T have the temperature regulation.
His class never left him behind. They by now I’m sure have been informed of Shoto’s circumstances by Shoto himself. As he figured himself out. Who he wanted to be. And Deku never ONCE stepped back as the person who truly managed to set this whole family on the path to heal. Deku’s lesson to him ALL THE WAY back in season 2 started the domino effect. Shoto decided to help Rei, which rallied Fuyumi. And on his path to learn and grow it inspired Endeavor to be better. Natsuo was dragged in by force for Endeavor but he stood by them all. And they all came together with the reveal of Touya being alive. One small statement snowballed EVERYTHING. And here he is ready to stand for his family, and for everyone that helped him stand on the way here.
With 2 new moves he quells what Dabi did. Freezing the entire city solid and finally putting out Dabi’s hellish fire. And Dabi passes out. (How these two managed to keep BREATHING with all the fire is beyond me. There has to be NO oxygen left in the city)
What an absolute FIRE episode. Can Touya be saved? Can this family finally heal once and for all from its past? And will Iida be any contribution to this at all? And what kind of fresh hell awaits in the other battles. This is a huge stepping stone but this isn’t over by a long shot.

Toya never burned down that orphanage in the manga. Anime just exaggerated that flame. It was a weak fire that got put out easily. His body was too weak at that point to produce that much amount of fire.
Quite impressive when you realise Dabi's va is also Zenitsu's va. On one side he's doing the goofy ahh voice and the other side he's here dropping BANGERS

Even without much blood and gore, it still was able to show the visceral details of the injury Dabi was suffering from. This is so much better than whatever BS censoring that was done in S5 and S6. A good director makes a whole world of a difference.
And obviously the fights had a lot more choreography than what we had in S6.
Your discussion reminded me of “Ending”, the villain endeavor and the boys fought in S5 who, like Roshi said about dabi, was trying to crash out at Endeavor’s hands. That fight against Ending represents to me Endeavor fully taking on his responsibilities as a father and facing his past, so I’m glad Shoto was the one to fight Dabi. Sins of the father made them both, but Shoto proved once and for all that you can go beyond your past traumas
The true definition of as cold as fire, and hot as ice, episode was a 10/10 down to the OST had me tearing up 🥹🔥🤝🏽 we eating good

The symbolism with everything within this family dynamic is truly amazing when you think about it.
Endeavor's power was capped because he would overheat. He always wanted a child to surpass his heat by also having the cold portion of the quirk to keep from overheating.
Toya was able go beyond Endeavor's power, but it also hurt him in the process. He was the physical embodiment of Endeavor's burning ambition/derangement/selfishness.
Shoto basically flipped Endeavor's way of thinking upside down. He was able to control both sides in harmony, which allowed him to push past Endeavor's power too, just like Toya. The difference is that instead of using his cold to stop from overheating, he did the inverse. He used the heat to keep himself from getting too cold and thus reach a colder temp than ever thought.
He "surpassed" Endeavor, but did it with his mother's side of the power instead of the flames.
If you want to take the symbolism a step further, imagine that the fire= hate, jealousy, ambition, Endeavor and the ice= love, compassion, thoughtfulness, his mother.
