The heavier you are, the greater force is needed to get you off the ground, eventually you hit a ratio where it just becomes impossible, even with mechanical assistance. As such, all flying vehicles must be built lightweight, but this also makes them incredibly flimsy, so any kind of weapon that even has a hope in hell of landing a hit, and is larger than a small arms weapon, is basically a threat, and thus can be termed an AA (Anti Air) weapon. Flying vehicles like helicopters and planes, rely less on armour, and more on speed and manoeuvrability to keep themselves alive
For the U.S. attack helicopters are not usually deployed in areas were we don't already have air superiority also most pilots have quick reaction times they might be able to dodge some large projectiles I personally think they should have used tanks like Abrams no catapult is making a dent in that armor

The Japanese Government sent the JSDF along with diplomats & other experts through the portal, they tried to do diplomatic peaceful means first trying to avoid battles & sticking with surgical strikes to defend themselves because JSDF know they can outright massacre them all, they showed what their capable of that they can wipe them out with ease but the King refuse to listen to reason sending thousands of his troops to be massacred in self defense from a platoon of JSDF personel.

A trebuchet or catapult could easily take down a helicopter. Firearms have to be reloaded and can fail and if either or both of those things happen when surrounded by a large attacking force you can easily be taken out. Arrows alone would've significantly leveled the playing field since they can easily penetrate even Kevlar if constructed properly. Getting cocky could've easily gotten them all killed

the difference with that example is jungle warfare versus siege warfare. the US had to push through majority of a country, mostly untamed jungle land. in this video, it's a fortress, and they're staving off a medieval siege. on top of that, it's a full frontal assault, versus guerrilla warfare. the Vietnamese had a fighting chance with modern weapons combo'd with hit and run tactics. if they attempted full frontal assault, even with modern weapons, they'd have lost in a heartbeat.

A trebuchet or catapult could easily take down a helicopter. Firearms have to be reloaded and can fail and if either or both of those things happen when surrounded by a large attacking force you can easily be taken out. Arrows alone would've significantly leveled the playing field since they can easily penetrate even Kevlar if constructed properly.

the difference with that example is jungle warfare versus siege warfare. the US had to push through majority of a country, mostly untamed jungle land. in this video, it's a fortress, and they're staving off a medieval siege. on top of that, it's a full frontal assault, versus guerrilla warfare.
