Good job and you two care do funny. My wife and I are also on this journey of vanbuild. Mine is an old E150, a lot smaller than yours but it will serve the purpose. Thanks for the great ideas you share on your build. Big hugs. From Nancy, Bella the van and me (Jen) keep on making your dream a reality.
Hi! Great video! I realize I am quite late for commenting (3 years).. but... I was curious if you added legs just in the corners? or also in the middle? I am about to build my bed, but I am hoping not to add a leg in the middle of my storage area. I weigh 130 lbs
Love the videos! I’m thinking of doing our bed the same as yours. Any issues with that slight overhang at the back of the van? Wondering more about the strength of the slats if one was sitting on the edge.
Thank you so much for watching! (And commenting :P) Honestly, the bed has beed perfect. With 2 of us and 2 dogs, it's holding 400+ lbs and is sturdy as we could of hoped for. Slats are definitely strong too. If you were really worried, you could add a center leg or 2 underneath for added support but that reduces storage space and probably isnt necessary.
I am searching some videos to watch how to build a bed frame because i have issues with my build out now and I decided I want to do that the same how you are making your bed frame but I have my walls up already. I am thinking if I can still do it but Im not sure if I can still drill on my wall since its covered already. any tips? I am currently building my van. but you guys are funny to watch together though.
Thanks so much for watching! I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with yours. Can you tell us a little more about that, and what you're trying to do? By no means experts but would love to help. I think the legs as supports will be a big help!
Nice video! How did you get your Havelock to stay on? We've used string, so far, but results are somewhat disappointing. Yours looks very well organized.
I am wondering how do the bed frame hold up. Is there any sagging issue? Are 3 2x3 studs stiff enough to support the weight of bed plus others. I understand that you laid the 2x3 studs with the wider side on horizontal direction to gain max space. However, in this orientation it does reduce the stiffness of the beams by about 80 % which makes the whole bed structure less rigid.
Great feedback! We've also added a few "legs" to the bed and will add a couple more once our garage space is finished for maximum strength. It held up on our first trip very well!
“It will sleep two queens” hahah 🙌🏼
it's plenty sturdy!

Wow! Wonder if you know about Flask (something) window for your van ( more space). I tried to figure out what called but I can’t remember now 😐
ah yes! flare spaces. We considered, but they only get you a couple inches and are quite expensive!

Coming together nicely. That’s what....nevermind

Thank you! We tried string as well and it was a total headache. We ended up using 3M 90 spray and it was perfect! Good luck :)
