The only trouble with it on the inside is the hot or cool air escapes the van when opening the back door. Is there a way the water nozzle can be pulled down underneath the frame.
The Ford Transit has a unique gas cover setup which solves the “locked gas cap” issue. When the driver opens the driver side door, the gas cap cover is protected by the door. NO ONE CAN ACCESS THE GAS CAP WHEN THE DRIVER’S door is locked! NEAT PROTECTION!
Agree, this is a brilliant compromise between the desire for a large bed and also a sitting area (and not wanting to pack up/set up the bed every day to have a sitting area). Really clever!
I love the build. If I had any suggestions it would be the swap the table mount to the other seat so it can double as a nightstand table when it's time to sleep (assuming you don't extend the bed).
Me being me, I would have two mounts because I like the idea of being able to use it as either a night stand or as additional prep/work space when needed.
I feel a table that slides out from under the bed would be the best solution for saving space but then you’d have to take everything off of the table if you have to get up . This is a fine solution
I've watched hundreds of van-life videos over the last 4 years and gleaned the best ideas to put together my ideal van layout, which is basically THIS van!! (I have an idea to make a full-size hidden ensuite and use your shower space for wardrobe but essentially the rest of the van is identical). Wow! It's great to see "my" van in the flesh (not as 100 pages of sketches and notes!) Well done!!
Matt does it again!! Incredible build! Love seeing how well thought-out his builds are... Everything transitions so simply and easily. So beautiful. Hope Inky and Blinky enjoy their time on the road 😂 Thanks for sharing Patrick!
The bed is cut into sections and stored in the garage, underneath the bed. 6in memory foam mattress takes up a fair amount of space- but not overwhelming
Lovess the design, one of the tidiest and well thought of I’ve seen. If I was the owner, I would find the toilet quite strange so I would probably add more space for the shower area apart from the toilet and would sacrifice the oven and air fryer so I could move the sink to the passenger side.
I don't need an air fryer, but having had an oven in my old Class-C, I know how great it can be to have that option when you are living there. At the worst, it was a great temporary storage.
Yo Patrick,❤the clean look on the inside. Smart storage space under the bench seats but easily removable panels to get to the hardware 👍 Nice option on the bed. Another great tour! Thanks again! Hello from freezing 🥶 Mid Michigan
Cleanest design I've seen 👏 the twin bed expanding to queen is slick. Alas, my 2 Mt bikes and 2 inflatable SUPs require a full bed footprint to fit under (with front wheels taken off). The large battery and water tank take precious space in the back. The art of tradeoffs...
Love this van….it’s so well designed and the finish work is super. So many clever details. One suggestion might be to put a short railing around the “deck”area on the roof in case someone wanted to carry something on the roof. Would add another storage option.
Too many things compliment you on. I'll give you a few. I like the white color cabinets. And the white oak looks good. Especially like the round corners on the counter extension.
Genius! The only change I would make is moving the lagun mount so the table swings over the driver side bench. I like to sleep with my head on the driver's side, and I like lots of room when I sit up to swing my legs out of the bed.
Someone else said similar thing further up --> moving it to use as a night stand. I would like two, one for night stand and one as is for prep/work area.
Such a beautiful and practically built van. Very impressed. My one question has to do with the toilet. It didn’t look as if there would be leg room while sitting on it in the bathroom.
Left to right is a bit tight, but you can actually set the shower doors right out for *some* privacy, and face the toilet towards the slider window for extended leg space. Loo with a view!
Terrific build quality, very well thought-out layout and a very well paced video. The sound was a tiny bit muffled, but my word, you should be proud of your work.
Very nice build. 600 AH of Lithium with 400 W of solar is great, but there's still lots of high drain appliances to keep happy. Is the customer planning on FHU campsites more then not? Does the engine alternator charge the Lithium dc/dc as well? Is the customer "power savvy" in understanding how the system works? (I've see many instances of van lifers asking questions about why their batteries are dead)
Thank you! Yes there is a 60a dc to dc charger. This was the clients first camper so there was a learning curve to understanding the system and its capabilities. I found that the interface on the cerbo by victron is a great tool in explaining/visualizing electrical concepts. Turn the van on and see a charge come in, keep track of watts coming from solar, etc.- then fire up the inverter and turn on the water heater/convection oven and watch how much power is being used in real time. Takes a lot of the guess work out, and makes the system, with its inputs/outputs more tangible. The client had plenty of questions but has been smooth sailing since.
Thank you! Classic shelf pin holes are cut into the pantry (holes are 1" apart/2 on each side) with peg inserts to rest the shelves on. Grooves were cut into the shelves themselves to keep them in place as well.
I'm sorry that my takeaway for your absolutely beautiful van is the pantry with adjustable shelving! I understand why builders don't do it but man...making shelves adjustable opens up all kinds of options.
Awesome build! So clean, beautiful and functional! Does anyone know what kind of screen it is for the slider? I need one of those vs the others to keep my pups in when I need to.
Where did you get that ceiling light exhaust fan? That's exactly what I need in my box truck. For that matter, do you have a list of the items you used on this build? So many great ideas! Thanks!
The board under the bed, to prevent dogs from tumbling down, had me spitting out my coffee, from laughter: my German shepherd once tumbled down (silently!) from the backseat of my regular car, unable to get up again, and me thinking "where did he go!?"
So to have usb charge ports in 110v outlets requires the inverter to be on for 25watts of charging. The inverter system will burn more than that just to be on. Should have gone dc to dc on dedicated usb ports.
Q.The bed when its into a Queens. Is it okay to sleep above the electrics cupboard. If you slept above it would it affect sleep if laying direct above the batteries etc.if your head directly above? Is it a fire hazard. Or can can it be swicthed off when sleeping. Many Thanks.
This is my absolute fav van build. I love the twin size bed w/an option to make it larger and the entire rest of the build would suit me as well. The only thing I would add is a hanging closet in between the bathroom & the kitchen sink otherwise it’s 100% perfect IMO. I’m getting ready to live can life soon and this is exactly what I’ve been looking for. What does a build like this cost? (Aprox)
Got it, and how long (aprox) does it take? I live in CALI and this will be my 1st time integrating into van life. Not sure how it works as far as starting the build. I’d have to schedule with you after I get the van then drive it to you? Is that how it’s typically done? I’m still in the planning phase but this is the best build I’ve seen so far & suits me perfectly (w/the addition of a hanging closet).
A beautiful van a little grief about the water, maybe you can extend the fill tube closer toward the rear door. And on the roof maybe move the air conditioning to one side and have linear solar panels along the other side making more room for a deck toward the rear.
Wow! Just wow. That's one amazing van. Gongrats to owner.
We agree!
Personally, I love the twin bed the most. Too many small vans try to put huge beds.
We agree, not a fan of taking up half of your usable space if you’re not going to be keeping a bunch of gear (or people) inside. All about options
On top of being a great build, your tour/commentary is the best I've heard, clear and concise.
I also recommend the water fill on the inside of the van to prevent someone from messing with your water supply.
He said water fill is still on the inside and that he'd probably "get flak for that."
Good tip
The only trouble with it on the inside is the hot or cool air escapes the van when opening the back door. Is there a way the water nozzle can be pulled down underneath the frame.

Honestly, I didn't think it was possible for such a small van to offer so much. This is an incredible build. Great job!
Thank you!
Unreal the use of space
Come to Australia please
How the heck do you take a shower? No room to stand! Looks like the toilet is fixed.
@@siegaurich The Laveo dry bag system toilet can be unplugged from it's electrical socket and lifted out of the wet bath shower stall.
Wow! Every door, every panel, every inch, every detail. Just wow!
Glad you like it!
Love the twin size bed that can expand. It opens so much space for the little dinette situation. Nice !
Yes it does!
Agreed!!
Yup, it "fits" those of us who do not require a large bed whilst traveling solo.
Agree, this is a brilliant compromise between the desire for a large bed and also a sitting area (and not wanting to pack up/set up the bed every day to have a sitting area). Really clever!

This is just what I said on Matt's first build!
Very nice!!! I love that it's a twin bed with option to expand. (Inky and Blinky 😂♥️)

Super clean build
Thanks Paige! Inky an Blinky will be traveling in style
Holey moley, this is a work of art--the craftmanship is crazy.
Thank you!
Love the sliding screen, window functions , shower exhaust fan, and light and bright style
We agree!
Yeah. I’ll need to have the slide in screen in my van. I have one cat and want a second one. I want to keep them safe but have good airflow and light.
Not sure how it is to shower with the toilet same area, bit tight for me
If I was to ever have one, I would want it to be almost exactly like this one. ❤
I really loved this build! Wow❤
Love that screen door. The best idea I’ve seen yet!!
Yeah, totally
Id love to see more about the using the bed as a queen such as how do you store the additional mattress
The bed is cut into sections and stored in the garage, underneath the bed. 6in memory foam mattress takes up a fair amount of space- but not overwhelming
This is the van of my dreams! Love the layout which is perfect for me and my shepherd! Thank you for sharing.

Very professional, love the way you did the panels. One of the best .

Absolutely beautiful, clean, neat and really usable van!!! Love it!!

That's certainly one of the better ones I've seen on here. Good job, Matt.
This is by far one of my favorite vans I have ever seen. It is everything I want except I need to fill water from the outside. This is excellent!
Patrick I agree, his design is neat and easy to use. Lots of counter space plus the white panels makes the inside appear larger. I love it! Thanks

Beautiful clean build. Very impressed with the attention to details, for example the covers for the batteries under the dinette seat.
This is a very nice build. You could use walkable solar panels to expand the roof deck.

I like the water fill on the inside. I get that there is no way around having some things on top of the van. I like keeping it as stealth as possible.
Also, having the water fill on the inside prevents anyone from prying open the fill cover and contaminating the supply. (Trusting soul that I am...)

Stunning. 😲 One question. Do you try to rodent proof the best you can? Keep any openings as small as possible, etc.?
Of course! Always a consideration in a van build. Minimize holes leading to outside, and if unavoidable- seal accordingly
