Jon certainly was one of the finest actors and gentlemen to have ever graced our screens and airwaves. He was one of the best Doctors to play the role, but to me will always be fondly remembered as dear ol Worzel Gummidge. He used to make me laugh every time he uttered the words 'Cup of tea and a slice of cake Aunt Sally' to the wonderful Una Stubbs. Sadly missed and greatly respected, R.I.P Jon Pertwee 💐
He once bought my brother and I a Coke at a riverside pub in Cookham. He spoke to us like old friends rather than the young children that we were. A lovely man.
We tried to get tickets to see Worsel Gummage on stage in Birmingham. Our child was 4. We wrote to John and told him we couldn't get tickets as they were sold out and could we have a signed autograft. John invited us to come to the theater after the show and he met us and sat our daughter on his knee dressed as Worsel and we had a photo. Aunt Sally [Una Stubbs] came in and made such a fuss of our daughter, they were so kind.
Oh my goodness that is an amazing story! Thank you so much for sharing that! I love hearing such good things about people I have always admired! ❤️❤️❤️ thank you for such a lovely comment and for watching the video ❤️
My dear Father served with Jon in the Navy during the War. They both survived some very 'Hairy moments' together. Sadly my Father died in 1968 when I was just 18. Whenever Jon appeared on TV my Father used to shake his head saying "I can't believe he was my old shipmate" - The day before my Father's funeral, my Mother received a delivery; a case of Dark Navy Rum. It was sent by Jon in memory of their time spent together during the War. My Mother said, to her knowledge my Father had lost contact with Jon when they were demobbed after the War and She had never actually met him. He must have gone out of his way to trace where we lived (Bless Him). R.I.P.
Thank you so much for sharing such a lovely personal story. It’s incredible to hear about the bond your father and Jon Pertwee shared during such challenging times. The gesture of sending that case of Dark Navy Rum speaks volumes about Jon's character and the deep respect he had for your father. Stories like this bring such warmth and humanity to the memories of these iconic figures and I absolutely loved hearing about this -what a beautiful tribute to their friendship. Thank you again for sharing and for watching the video, it's very appreciated xxxx
I meet Jon Pertwee in Liverpool in the early 90s ,he was doing something for children in need , i was 26 years old at the time, he was very friendly and made time to speak with everyone . Lovely man.
That's so lovely to hear Robert - thank you for sharing that memory of Jon - and it's so nice to hear that he was friendly and spoke to everyone xx just as I would imagine he was! xx
I hadn't realised Jon Pertwee had insisted so strongly he should play the Doctor his own way - and how right he was. You can see moments of 'zaniness' written into the first episodes but they evaporate quickly. I love his Doctor - serious, vain, moral, indignant, totally charming and heroic.
Jon was my most favourite of the Doctors. He brought style, intelligence and was handsome too, by far the best looking Dr Who, and he made the role feel more realistic. His cloak was a classic, something mysterious and cavalier about it, his look was the best of all the docs, and his face is one you don’t forget. Such a tragedy to loose him so young, as he had so much more to give. 😢
While Jon was somewhat young compared to other actors, his companion Caroline John was only in her mid 60s when she passed. And Sarah Jane and Romana 1 were also lost to similar illnesses.
Jon Pertwee was and still is THE DOCTOR. He pervades throughout the memories of my childhood. Nobody has bettered the role. Jon has left us in body. But his spirit is now travelling other dimensional spaces and time.
What a beautiful tribute to Jon Pertwee! I couldn't agree more-he brought such a unique energy and charm to the Doctor, making him truly unforgettable. It’s amazing how his portrayal still resonates with so many fans. I love the thought of his spirit continuing to travel through time and space! Thanks for sharing this lovely sentiment. xxxx
I met Jon Pertwee twice. He came very close to my home town of Bargoed in April 1973. The BBC came to the village of Deri , near Caerphilly, South Wales to film an episode of Doctor Who:"The Green Death". He flew over my school in a helicopter,my friend Lee ran out to see him. I met Jon Pertwee again in April 1994 when he returned to the area to open a visiting centre. BBC Wales were there to film it and I ended up on the news with him at 6pm. He was lovely.
That’s amazing!!! I love this - thank you for sharing! I have hear that he was a genuinely kind hearted person - very friendly and warm ❤️ you were so lucky to meet him! Xx
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre He most certainly was absolutely genuine. He took time to talk to me and his other fans, he mingled with the people. Great video by the way.
Jon was my favorite Dr Who (followed by Tom Baker, of course). But also loved him in Whodunnit? (1972-1978) because it was great to see him playing himself.
I was very fortunate to meet him as a child when he was raising funds for charity. He was driving a yellow vintage car he used in Dr Who. I also met him at St Albans theatre when he was talking about his life work.A truly excellent actor.
I was introduced to Dr Who through Patrick Troughton, but it was Jon Pertwee that locked me in, from 8 years old. Loved him. RIP Mister Pertwee. Lol, I got in trouble for writing on the loo walls at Australia's NIDA. Funny old world, but love I have this in common with Mister Pertwee 😂
Ohhhh 😂 I think often when we have specific favourites it's because we can identify with certain traits - I've been involved in the Marilyn Monroe 'community' for years and I have so many friends who share my Marilyn passion - and in each one I can see something of Marilyn - sometimes it's her lateness - sometimes her generosity etc I think it's fascinating! Jon Pertwee was brilliant! xx
I was 8 when Jon announced he was stepping down as Dr Who. Likewise, I was devastated. The regeneration was one of the great leaps into the unknown for me growing up.
@@maouliamediaofficial it's funny, peter davison is my favorite doctor because of caves of androzani. however, when I think of doctor who I always envision baker. Ubiquitous as he may be, most still have another favorite.
Jon Pertwee will always be the best Dr Who in my opinion. And I loved him as the delightful Worzel Gummidge too. Thank you Shar for a lovely showcase of his life - very interesting indeed.
I appreciate this channel because being born in 1964 I remember all of these character actors. The narrator is welcoming and helps us to understand all the nuances of all these characters. It’s stirred a strange of nostalgia in me which I would never imagined when I was a kid. Appreciated.
Thank you so much for your comment! Jon Pertwee was indeed a fantastic Doctor Who, bringing a lot of charm and energy to the role. It’s clear he made a lasting impression, and it’s touching to hear how much he meant to you, I felt the same about him! His fun personality and memorable performances continue to be fondly remembered. xxxx
Great video! He had some horrible experiences during his early life…glad he found love and happiness, his son Sean, is a brilliant actor, he looks so much like his Dad. Jon Pertwee was brilliant as Dr Who. R.I.P.
He did! He was such an inspiration and an example of not let other people destroy your confidence! Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for watching xx
Absolutely - it’s why I choose to live in the past 🤭 I rarely bother with modern day films etc and when I do - I often realise why I rarely bother! ❤❤❤
He was marvellous in Doctor Who ❤️🌹 I hope his family are doing well too - his son Sean is a brilliant actor - I think his daughter Dariel was a great actress too - but I believe she is now a psychotherapist xx
Well done and well said young lady, I'm a newbie to your channel, I think Britain has such an untouched comedy /acting gold that few people explore apart from you, peace and love and thank's again ✌️❤️
One of the best Dr's along with Tom Baker and David Tenant. Loved him in Worzel Gummage too. Love the fact that Diana Doors got to work with the legendary Goldie Hawn, even if it were before my time. Love Goldie, hilarious and beautiful woman.
I saw his one man show 'An Evening with Jon Pertwee' at the Stables in Wavenden, not long before he died. He was interesting and engaging and very funny. A charming, elegant man. Curiously he seemed far prouder of Worzel Gummidge than his stint as Doctor Who. However, I always thought he was an excellent Dr. Who who never failed to play the part completely straight, no matter how daft the plots were. A great professional with a wonderful voice - who could forget him in The Navy Lark? Luckily, we still have so much of his work that keeps his memory alive.
Thank you so much and thank you for watching! I agree with you - I think he absolutely loved and believed in Worzel Gummidge - I don’t think he ever expected his Doctor role to take off and reach such giddy iconic heights! ❤️
Nice video, thank you. I recently watched Jon Pertwee in the 1971 film "The House That Dripped Blood" where he played a faded, vain, horror film actor. Absolutely hilarious, and brilliantly performed.
Yes! And there is even a tongue in cheek dig at Christopher Lee when Jon's character says something like Im much better than these new chaps , referring to Lee's portrayal of the Count himself! And Ingid Pitt is marvellous too as the vampire!
My favourite Doctor Who, probably because he was my first. The bloody Daleks still give me nightmares! (I'm 57) His son Sean, of course, is a respected actor and narrator. Nice compact biopic. Respect from Ireland.
He was one of the best Dr. Whos. I remember his many tangles with Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, and his wonderful companions Katy Manning and Elisabeth Sladen. He added a touch of class to every scene he played. I never saw him in Worzel Gummidge because I left the UK in 1979 and that show was not televised in the USA.
I agree - I think he played the doctor with a wonderful flourish ❤️🌹 as Worzel Gummidge he was super cute and you could tell watching it how much he enjoyed it! ❤️
@@golden.lights.twinkle2329 are there any episodes of wurzel gummidge on youtube? I haven't checked, but YT lifted n has a lot of older tv and radio shows. .
I watched him in a horror movie ,the house that dripped blood ,a couple of months ago . Loved the character he played .and wormal grumage ….RIP Jon pertwee x
A beautiful tribute to a much missed entertainer. He was an excellent dr who and, imho, would be near impossible to better as Worzel. I had the great pleasure and good fortune to meet Jon four times over the years and would be happy to share those memories with you Shar,if you so wished. Thank you for posting such a wonderful bio. 😊
Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your personal connection with Jon Pertwee. I'm so delighted you enjoyed the video. Jon's portrayal of both the Doctor and Worzel left an indelible mark on so many (including me as a child watching Jon in Dr Who particularly!), and it's clear you hold him in high regard. I'd love to hear your memories of meeting him if you'd like to share. Your support means a lot. Thank you for watching the video - it's very appreciated xxxx
Hi there, First off, please accept my apologies for taking such a long, long time to reply to your lovely comments about my post. Thank you so much. I did not know Jon as a personal friend,I was simply lucky enough to meet him on four separate occasions over the years.Like you,I am a big Dr Who fan with tv watching memories reaching back way back to at least the late Hartnell era of that wonderful show. Since you have been kind enough to ask me if I would recount my experiences of meeting Jon,I shall humbly do my best to stir my creaking grey cells to recall the details as best as I can for you. I first had the great pleasure of meeting him way back in 1974,when I was an awestruck"young puppy" of 14 .This was not very long after he had finished working on Dr Who. My Dad had discovered that Jon was appearing in a West End farce called "The Bedwinner",possibly one of his earliest engagements after leaving Dr Who,I would assume. So,as a special treat,my dad took both me and a friend (a fellow Dr Who fan along to see the show.My memories of the show are very sketchy at best Just lots of innuendo and scampering about on a typical suburban bedroom set in true farce fashion All the cast were good and Jon was outstandingly good,as one might expect. As soon as the curtain came down and the auditorium lights came up,the three of us hurried outside in the hope that we might be lucky enough to meet Jon at the stage door. We had not been waiting very long before the door opened and there he was,Jon Pertwee, wearing a dark suut and an open necked shirt. My friend and I were starstruck and speechles, after all,we were in the presence of Dr Who himself in the flesh. My dad cane to our rescue and explained that we had all just seen the show and loved it and would Jon mind if we obtained a couple of autographs from him . "Just a moment",said Jon.He stepped back througj the stage door which swung shut once more.Monents later,Jon reappeared clutching a couple of large publicity photos.I renember noticing that, naturally enough,he seemed a little tired after what had been an energetic performance on stage and yet this wonderful gentleman took the trouble to pop back presumably to his dressing room to obtain some photos to sign for us.Jon nodded towards me,"Name" he asked. "Nigel,"I replied, still in awe that this was really happening.Jon signed and handed me a photo before repeating the procedure for my equally starstruck friend. We all thanked him,"My pleasure, "he replied with a grin before walking off down the street.I swear I could hear the Dr Who thene tune blasting away in my ears as he turned a corner and vanished from sight, presumably to get to his car. I did not meet Jon Pertwee again for a very long time. The year was 1993,which I know you will recall was the year of the Dr Who 30th anniversary celebrations. Jon was attending a Forbidden Planet signing event held at a pleasant West End bar very near Oxford Street.A lavish new book called "Dr Who:The Seventies" had just come out, which Jon was happily signing copies of.I still have my copy, signed by Jon,Nicholas Courtney and also Tom Baker, whom I have also had the great pleasure of meeting more than once over the years. Once again I got to meet Jon and exchange a few.words with him.He hoped I would enjoy the book It was very busy in there,so my time meeting Jon was pretty brief but so worthwhile,of course. sMy next encounter with Jon was at a small science fiction convention held at a London Hotel.I renember getting there early and lining up with other fans outside of the closed double doors of a large chamber .Suddenly, only a few minutes or so before a signing session with star guest,Jon Pertwee was due to begin, the booming tones of the star, sounding very much like the third Doctor at his most confrontational could be heard by all of us waiting for the doors to open . "No,that is not good enough.I am a professional and that is not good enough",exclaimed a clearly irritated Mr Pertwee. My fellow waiting fans and I heard a few quiet words of apology from someone within assuring Jon that the problem would be sirted out right away .After about another five or six minutes or so,the doors were opened and we all filed inside to wait our turn to meet and greet Jon.He was charming as usual but seemed a little subdued.I Cannot say for certain but I got the impression that his well documented bad back was playing him up a fair bit that day,a poignant reminder that, famous ir not,we are all subject to health issues of one kind or another in our lives He looked very dapoer in full Dr Who costume, including a grey version of hus cloak,a frilly white shirt and a TARDIS jey chain around his neck,He signed a book for me and we exchanged a few pleasantries before I once more took my leave from the presence of the great man. Never did find out what had annoyed him so before the doors opened though The fiinal ttine I got to greet Jon was at a Dr Who convention held at a hotel not far from Heathrow Airport of all places. I was also lucky enough to meet John Leeson, the original voice actor for K9 on the same day. Unlike on the previous two occasions, Jon was not "in costume " as The Doctor but wore instead a very smart pale blue suit and plain white shirt . He walked out on stage to huge applause, soread his arms wide and forcefully exclaimed, "I am the Doctor". Nobody in the audience doubted it Later on ,at a signing session,he signed a photo for me and I could not help noticing how incredibly well and relaxed he looked. He honestly looked ten years younger than the last time I met him the previous year.I had read in a newspaper or magazine sone months vefore that he had undergone a highly successful back operation and it really showed. He was on amazing form that day. Before taking my leave of him that last time,I felt compelled to say the following: "Jon,can I just say how much I always have and still do enjoy watcing you on tv in Dr Who and Worzel Gummidge.Thank you so much for the viewing pleasure you have given me for so many years" Jon leaned back in his seat and looked genuinely touched.Smiling broadly he replied with sincerity, "How very kind of you.Thank you so much". That last meeting took place,Summer 1995 As we all know,by the late Spring of the following year he was gone from us all sadly but will never, ever be forgotten. A true star and a true gentleman I hope to goodness I have not bored you with this very long response to you. All of my very best wishes to you for the continued success of your yourube channel. Kindest regards, Nigel.😊❤ e@@BeautifulBadandBizarre
Thanks for a wonderful story of a great actor. Two things jumped out at me. 1) was that Jon was in the Navy Lark, the producer of it was one of my mother’s best friends, Alastair Scott Johnstone. 2) that you ended up at Putney Vale crematorium which was a short distance (200m) from where my first marital home was located. So thank you for bringing two lovely memories back to my mind. You make the best videos of these great personalities, so again a big thank you for that.
Oh!!! Thank you so much Richard - I’m really glad to have helped bring those memories to you! And how wonderful that Alastair Scott Johnstone was one of your mother’s best friends! I love that! And that you lived so close to Putney Vale! I grew up regularly visiting Putney - my grandparents on my mum’s side lived in Wandsworth and my Nan used to take me to Putney on shopping expeditions! ❤️
The great Jon Pertwee a character actor who was a character. I seem to remember he rode a Big BMW motorcycle,A stylish man remember him in the Navy lark as well as his TV and Film work
An icon of my childhood. I liked him. Thought he was the best Dr Who. Your documentaries are very interesting and packed with information that helps the viewer to build a clearer understanding of the subject. 👍🏽
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre Tom Baker for me was the best Doctor with John Pertwee 2nd. No other Doctors came close. RIP John Pertwee, a great actor & national treasure 🇬🇧
I agree, he was the best Doctor, or at least in the top 3. While Patrick Troughton is often credited with keeping Doctor Who going after the first regeneration, it was Jon Pertwee who ensured Doctor Who evolved and survived the modernisation of colour and the move to more mature stories. Without Jon Pertwee, it's likely Doctor Who wouldn't have survived long enough for Tom Baker to come into the role.
Don't laugh but I've cryed 3 times as a grown man once when Pertwee went Christopher Lee and Rodger Moore cryed like a baby I'm 50. Most of my childhood hero,s are gone like tears in the rain.
I can't laugh! and I wouldn't! I'm exactly the same - I get very emotional when people I've grown up with and loved on the television, in films etc pass away! X
He was the best doctor, so alive one moment then solemn the next, really fitted the role, yes there have been others since, but as a kid who loved dr who, he was my fave then, and thats when it mattered most👍
I always thought Jon was one of the most talented actors around, a missed underated talent, he was my Dr Who growing up, a man I would have loved to have met, I did meet Bill Pertwee though at a dad's army stage show, thanks for the video
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Jon Pertwee truly was a remarkable and versatile actor, and it's wonderful to hear he was your Doctor Who. Meeting Bill Pertwee at a Dad's Army stage show must have been an incredible experience. I'm glad you enjoyed the video! xxxxx
BLESS that man🙏👍🇬🇧💯 And bless his boy😍🙏🧐 MUCH love 💖🤩 thanks for your stuff 💞😙 I'll NEVER forget you✌️💞🤩❣️🤔💪thank brouv for you an YOURS🎬💯🇬🇧🙏❣️🤩 London's LOVIN you👍🇬🇧
Your affection for the subjects of your videos is, as ever, so well conveyed. Although I was too young for "the Navy Lark" and never a big "Doctor Who" fan, I did always really like Jon Pertwee, and it was he alone who brought me to enjoy "Worzel Gummidge" even though at that point I was in my mid teens and a little over the age of it's target audience. I also think his son Sean is a fantastic actor and gentleman.... just like his dad. I've always had an interest in 20th century military history, but your channel was the last place I expected to find something that's intrigued me for along time, that was the circumstances of Jon's posting from HMS Hood shortly before it's destruction, and I never expected to find the answer here of ALL places !!!! So thank you for that as well. Keep up the good work as ever BB&B, well done !!!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I’m delighted to hear that my affection for Jon Pertwee came through and that it resonated with you. I only ever make videos about people that I absolutely love, or find particularly interesting and intriguing so it keeps me enthusiastic - the only issue I have is there are so many people I want to feature it's always such a struggle to decide who to do next!!!! It’s fascinating how someone like Jon Pertwee could captivate audiences across different genres, from “Worzel Gummidge” to “Doctor Who,” even if we were a bit past the target age. 😅 I’m glad you found the information about his time on HMS Hood interesting. It’s always a pleasure to uncover and share those lesser-known aspects of a person’s life. Thanks for your support and kind words-it really does motivate me to keep creating content. I appreciate your enthusiasm and hope you continue to enjoy the channel! xxxxx
Very interesting as to the good, the bad, and the ugly in Jon's life time before he became one of the best classic Doctors! Known for being Doctor Who since I've first seen the show as a very young kid, I never thought I would have known the in depth story behind this famous actor! He was a great guy! And he is missed!
Thank you so much and thank you for watching! Yes Jon Pertwee had such an interesting life and like many actors of his generation he worked exceedingly hard! ❤️❤️❤️
My sister and I would hide behind the sofa when the Dr Who theme tune came on the telly! We'd be terrified of the monsters but the sight of our favourite Doctor always reassured us that the good guys would win and we'd come out of our "den" and be enthralled by the show, magnificently creative as it was!
Great in-depth research and testimony about Jon's life, particularly during his Naval career in WW2. At nearly 60 years old, Jon was without a doubt "My Doctor" and loved the interaction on Dr. Who between Jon and the "Brigadier!" A gregarious and versatile actor who was also great as Worzel Gummidge with the wonderful actress Una Stubbs and other famous cast members from that series. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! Jon Pertwee really did bring so much depth and charm to every role he played, from his time as the Doctor to his memorable performance as Worzel Gummidge. I’m glad you appreciated the research and insights into his life and career. Thank you so much for watching and for sharing your own reflections! They are very much appreciated xxxx
Thank you so very much - I’ve had some issues and challenges recently but I’m truly hoping I can get back to making videos soon! I truly appreciated your comment xxxx
Charles Laughton, what a man. But for me, carry on screaming “Now let me see, fingers I have known!” What a superb eccentric line by a superb actor. Only Jon could carry that off. Thank you Shar x

I met Jon Pertwee at Wellington Airport in New Zealand when he was filming Worzel Gummidge Down Under in the mid 80’s as a young kid. I spotted him and told my mum that was a Doctor Who, she approached him and we had a chat, he was really nice guy. I was star stuck!

Thank you so much for sharing this xx
What I think is lovely is that when looking for graves two cast members of last of the summer wine are buried in the local graveyard in the series as it was soo picturesque-Great pals John Sallis and Bill owen aka Cleggy and Compo!!

You’re very welcome and thank you for watching! Haha! Yes!!!! And my brother would walk around saying ‘exterminate’ in a Dalek voice 🤣🤣🤣 just to scare me!
I've been listening to the navy lark on Audible today, Jon was amazing with his various voices, I also listened to his son Sean singing fireball from love, honor, obey. I only found the film because I'm a fan of Tony Christie and like to hear covers of his songs, so when I saw a clip of avenues and alleyways sung by the cast as the opening credits for love, honor, I had to watch it. On the navy lark cds there a bonus track of Jon doing a duet with June Whitfield singing have I stayed away to long. RIP JON ❤❤

Wow lucky you .
Ah the giant maggots. Put me off eating sausages for a while but I got over it.
@@gmf121266 I remember the green death - great story somewhat spoiled by us only having a black and white tv so it was more of a mid grey death!
Jon was my favorite Dr Who (followed by Tom Baker, of course).
But also loved him in Whodunnit? (1972-1978) because it was great to see him playing himself.
Oh I loved Whodunnit? especially the episode with Diana Dors! xxxx
A great actor and character that's greatly missed.
I agree xx thank you for watching! Xx
Jon Pertwee was brilliant! xx
I remember breaking my heart when it showed him regenerating into the next Doctor, I absolutely loved him as Dr Who and of course Worzel ❤️
Yes!!!! It was so sad - he was truly the best Doctor for me! And he was so cute as Worzel Gummidge 🤭🤭🌹
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre not to sound like that guy, but you found him better than Tom Baker?
Lol I loved Tom Baker but Jon Pertwee just had the edge for me!
Thank you so much! And thank you for watching 🥰 I agree with you - to me Jon was THE Doctor Who! And he was so cute as Worzel Gummidge 🤭❤️ xxx
I agree , after his departure it wasn’t the same ever again with other actors.
Wow! I do agree that Jon was an incredible Doctor, but let’s not forget about Tom Baker who took it to the next level. The 1970’s? An amazing decade.
@@thoughtsonfitness3249 That’s true, Tom was my second. In East Hagbourne ( Didcot ) there was pictures on the pub wall when he visited there.
I always thought it would be interesting to see his son Sean as The Doctor. Sean Pertwee is a good actor too, arguably better than Jon
I appreciate this channel because being born in 1964 I remember all of these character actors.
The narrator is welcoming and helps us to understand all the nuances of all these characters. It’s stirred a strange of nostalgia in me which I would never imagined when I was a kid. Appreciated.

He was my Dr Who 1970 to 74 , he seemed such a fun person and I remember feeling very sad when he died.
Thank you so much for your comment! Jon Pertwee was indeed a fantastic Doctor Who, bringing a lot of charm and energy to the role. It’s clear he made a lasting impression, and it’s touching to hear how much he meant to you, I felt the same about him! His fun personality and memorable performances continue to be fondly remembered. xxxx

Fantastic actor who was, imho, the best Doctor Who. What a lovely tribute. His talent has definitely been continued in his son, actor Sean Pertwee.

Great video! He had some horrible experiences during his early life…glad he found love and happiness, his son Sean, is a brilliant actor, he looks so much like his Dad. Jon Pertwee was brilliant as Dr Who. R.I.P.

Well done and well said young lady, I'm a newbie to your channel, I think Britain has such an untouched comedy /acting gold that few people explore apart from you, peace and love and thank's again ✌️❤️
I think he was the best Doctor Who
❤️❤️❤️
My pleasure - thank you for watching!!! Ohhhh that’s a great film 🤭 Jon was such a brilliant actor! ❤

Hi there,
First off, please accept my apologies for taking such a long, long time to reply to your lovely comments about my post.
My fellow waiting fans and I heard a few quiet words of apology from someone within assuring Jon that the problem would be sirted out right away .After about another five or six minutes or so,the doors were opened and we all filed inside to wait our turn to meet and greet Jon.He was charming as usual but seemed a little subdued.I
Cannot say for certain but I got the impression that his well documented bad back was playing him up a fair bit that day,a poignant reminder that, famous ir not,we are all subject to health issues of one kind or another in our lives
He looked very dapoer in full Dr Who costume, including a grey version of hus cloak,a frilly white shirt and a TARDIS jey chain around his neck,He signed a book for me and we exchanged a few pleasantries before I once more took my leave from the presence of the great man.
Never did find out what had annoyed him so before the doors opened though
The fiinal ttine I got to greet Jon was at a Dr Who convention held at a hotel not far from Heathrow Airport of all places.
Nobody in the audience doubted it
Later on ,at a signing session,he signed a photo for me and I could not help noticing how incredibly well and relaxed he looked. He honestly looked ten years younger than the last time I met him the previous year.I had read in a newspaper or magazine sone months vefore that he had undergone a highly successful back operation and it really showed. He was on amazing form that day. Before taking my leave of him that last time,I felt compelled to say the following:
"Jon,can I just say how much I always have and still do enjoy watcing you on tv in Dr Who and Worzel Gummidge.Thank you so much for the viewing pleasure you have given me for so many years"
Jon leaned back in his seat and looked genuinely touched.Smiling broadly he replied with sincerity,
"How very kind of you.Thank you so much".
That last meeting took place,Summer 1995 As we all know,by the late Spring of the following year he was gone from us all sadly but will never, ever be forgotten.
A true star and a true gentleman
I hope to goodness I have not bored you with this very long response to you.
All of my very best wishes to you for the continued success of your yourube channel.
Kindest regards,
Nigel.😊❤

Thanks for a wonderful story of a great actor. Two things jumped out at me. 1) was that Jon was in the Navy Lark, the producer of it was one of my mother’s best friends, Alastair Scott Johnstone. 2) that you ended up at Putney Vale crematorium which was a short distance (200m) from where my first marital home was located.
So thank you for bringing two lovely memories back to my mind.
You make the best videos of these great personalities, so again a big thank you for that.

I am so happy that I meet him. A realy nice man.
Don't laugh but I've cryed 3 times as a grown man once when Pertwee went Christopher Lee and Rodger Moore cryed like a baby I'm 50. Most of my childhood hero,s are gone like tears in the rain.

I’m glad you found the information about his time on HMS Hood interesting. It’s always a pleasure to uncover and share those lesser-known aspects of a person’s life. Mine too! Thank you so much for your lovely comment and watching the video ❤️🌹
What I think is lovely is that when looking for graves two cast members of last of the summer wine are buried in the local graveyard in the series as it was soo picturesque-Great pals John Sallis and Bill owen aka Cleggy and Compo!!
A great video I was mesmerised with him in worsel gummage he was a fantastic actor RIP ❤ till the next one 😊
I’m a little bit crazy about him 🤭 he was so brilliant - imagine if he had listened to the people who told him to give up his dream of being an actor! I’m so glad he ignored them! ❤️ thank you for watching xx
OMG !
I would never thought that Jon was in Carry on movies !
Need to watch them again !
Yes, he was in 4 Carry ons in all. Thank you so much for watching.
Loved Dr Who as a kid and John was the first Dr I really remember. And like you, I was scared of the Daleks! Thanks for the trip down memory lane 🙂
You’re very welcome and thank you for watching! Haha! Yes!!!! And my brother would walk around saying ‘exterminate’ in a Dalek voice 🤣🤣🤣 just to scare me!
Yep doctor who,, my years as a who fan
My dad took me n my sis to London back in the sixties, met the darleks,, spent most off the day crying,, the ritz 68 I think?

Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video - thank you for watching! xxxx
Another superbly presented and in-depth episode, giving fascinating snippets into iconic figures.
Thank you so much and thank you for watching! ❤️
RIP JON ❤❤
Oh I LOVE Tony Christie!!! Jon was so talented - and I agree, amazing with his variety of voices! xx Thank you for watching xx
