The 3 things I want in a gun is small size(to carry), undercover(to be a surprise), and as much power as you can fit in a small weapon. In which this thing gives me 2 & 1/2 of those things. For it's extremely small & compact, it's a secret weapon, and since it's a revolver(even as a 22) shouldn't it still produce some degree of good power. But anyway I like this better than a cellphone gun, and a credit card gun.
been watching you for years! I can always rely on a well made no frills thorough great music honest review from you Sootch00! Thank you always for what you do!
This has made me nostalgic. I may have to pick up another NAA in 22 mag with an alternate 22lr cylinder. I've had several over the years but always let them get away from me for some reason, Lol.
Really like the power blade action/ release on the Switch-Gun. Sootch, it would be great if you could do a straight up comparison of one of the North American Arms Holster Grips / Folders (NAA-22LLR-HG / NAA-22LR-HG / NAA-22MS-HG / NAA-22M-HG) against this thing since the msrp on the North American arms runs $269 - $280.
Another great video. I sure do like your calm well explaining style. I think this revolver is a great idea. Like you said up close and personal. I agree with your assessment of the front sight. Cost is high but a trip to the hospital or a funeral is even higher. The quick deployment and hand filling grip certainly sets it apart. Thank you so much for your videos. Have a great day 😀.
Staring intently down the "Sights" on a gun review of a gun with well a trough and dot no sights really just my opinion. Practical mmmmmm sure yup the NAA has sights. but hey over all as it is intended an original point click up close to 10 feet, I think it is awesome I like the spring action deployment.
Agree, with such a short barrel 22Mag makes little sense. Half of the powder burns outside. Making it 22lr and adding a tad more barrel would make a better product.
honestly borrow some ones NAA and try firing it without hearing protection at dusk.... i would be willing to spend a bit extra to have that fireball distraction if i ever had to rely on this arm.
Yeah, think you need at least 3 or 4 inches of barrel to make 22 mag worth it over 22lr and this has a barrel that is .5"? A 3" version in 30 super carry would be interesting to me...A 3" version in 30 super carry of a NAA Ranger Top-Break would be even more so but I'm not a fan of the "remove the cylinder (and the pin holding it) entirely from the firearm to reload" thing...YMMV
Novelty. It's cute. Half inch barrel is a joke for .22 mag. You don't get a full burn of powder. As I said it is cute. I'll pass. Thanks for showing it.
Very good review. I love my tiny weird firepower, and have several NAA Mini Revolvers, an array of .25s, vintage and antique small frame .22 and .32 revolvers, and derringers. I'm particularly fond of the High Standard Derringer in .22 Magnum and the .32 caliber S&W New Departure 2" Bicycle Model. A truly small and slender top break revolver. This is exactly the sort of thing I like. Unfortunately .22 Magnum really suffers in very short revolver barrels, often gaining only a little on the .22 LR. A conversion cylinder for this would be just the thing. What I'd really like to see is a gun of this type in .32 ACP. And it's already been done. A resurrection of the very rare Braverman underbarrel .32 folding grip revolver would be excellent as far as I'm concerned. I'd have two! 😀 This company seems like just the outfit to do it. Scaling this design up to .32 ACP or possibly the new .30 Super Carry cartridge would also be perfect.

While I don't have one in my hands right now, I do know a few things about machining, assemblies, and guns. My educated guess is that the barrel is threaded into the frame, and those notches are for the tool that applies torque during assembly.

Excellent review. I think all too often people overlook the utility of these little guns. I own a NAA Scofield breakfront style .22 WMR 5 shot revolver and I’ve added their folding handle which is an excellent improvement. Nevertheless, I agree with you that competition is good and will improve what’s available. The NAA folding handle is good but it doesn’t “flip” like this one …and indeed that’s an important improvement/innovation. I will be keeping my NAA but if they add a switchblade style handle I will totally snatch one up. Thanks again for what you do.
I love the creativity of these guns, but my hands are just to big for these to be usable for me. Bond arms sells a bullpup pistol that is not much bigger lengthwise. But fills out the hand a bit better.
@@gurgleblaster2282 have you tried the folding handle. I’m 6’5” and have large hands works for me. If this is you only pistol option well yea but it’s one of several smaller guns I own. Hey Sootch, Your sterling review of the Switch Gun was so good that I had to run out and buy one. I actually communicated this to Standard Manufacturing when I contacted them regarding the slight bit of play in the gun when it's in the locked open position. They responded promptly and stated, "Yes, it'll have a little bit of play. That's so if there's any debris in there it'll open still. Shouldn't be that much however." Figured I would share it with you. Thanks, Sootch.
@@pnwrendezvous3751 The hammer requires deliberate action. I suppose it's possible to cock it while placing it in a pocket though I think it highly unlikely. I am unfamiliar with a barrel lock.
I may add this to my collection. I have all three of the Ruger 380 ACP's and the new Max is terrific with larger clip. However, there Switch-Gun designs are interesting. I love and carry everyday the North American Arms, mini-mag, 22 lR, as it has the extended grip (most needed with big hands) and the fast fold out from pocket to firing is only one second. I have perhaps twelve mini's of three calibers, but for sure wearing shorts, etc. the American Arms at a little over 6 oz. is just fine and know one ever knows it is there. I think the pocket clip on the NAA is perfect holding the gun in place, but ready for fast pull.
I’d also be interested in a two shot version with a rectangular cylinder chambered in .380 or 9mm. Hopefully the manufacturer is reading these comments.
Its weight (unloaded) on the scale is about the same as a fully-loaded Kel-Tec P32, and its "pocket profile" appears similar. This is a 21st century interpretation of the late 19th century, French "Apache" multi-purpose self-defense pocket firearm. The French-made Apache consisted of a six-shot revolver cylinder with no barrel. The handle was steel knuckles and could be folded up. A small, folding, stabbing knife attached to the top of the firing cylinder. The whole Rube Goldberg contraption could be folded up into a portable, pocket bundle. It is not known how popular or how many were manufactured. But the Apache is a novel collector's item today.

This is price point is more more attractive, and you still get 5 shots. If you’re skilled with a revolver, the cock and pull is no big deal at all. I don’t like carrying heavy handguns on my person.

Have a great day 😀.
the full grip makes it manageable for ladies smaller hands but I question the site. haven't tried it yet but looking forward to it
Staring intently down the "Sights" on a gun review of a gun with well a trough and dot no sights really just my opinion. Practical mmmmmm sure yup the NAA has sights. but hey over all as it is intended an original point click up close to 10 feet, I think it is awesome I like the spring action deployment.
Awesome! Now add a knife, tweezers and a toothpick and impress the hell out of us.
Fantastic little gun, "get off me gun" needs to be a sales category
@@McBeakerson maybe so, cross cut .22lr hollow points are pretty wicked,

Novelty.
It's my understanding that .22 mag. is now made with hot/fast powders specifically for use in short-barreled pistols.
I'm handicap in a wheelchair and it's hard to carry a gun . This looks perfect to put under my leg and easy to grab or improvise in another area .

Don't know that this is any better or more convenient than a pocket 380, but I dig it! Thanks👍!

While I don't have one in my hands right now, I do know a few things about machining, assemblies, and guns. My educated guess is that the barrel is threaded into the frame, and those notches are for the tool that applies torque during assembly.
That’s pretty neat, be a great little back up gun, exactly for those “get off me” situations, when pulling a concealed glock ain’t manageable.

If this is you only pistol option well yea but it’s one of several smaller guns I own. problem is I have 10 1/2 inch hands but can't close them all the way so anything smaller than standard grip is just a pain in the ass to handle. So it a combo of having big hands like yourself but gripping small things is somewhat difficult. Bond arms bullpup 9 fits well enough but I wouldn't go any smaller.

Ideally, you don't kill your assailant, because you'll probably spend much longer in court (or prison) if you do. Shoot at his centre mass until he stops attacking and is not holding any gun anymore. If he dies, he dies. Just win the initial fight. For what to do and say after the battle, listen to Massad Ayoob. It includes being the first to call the cops, to point out any scene evidence in your favour, and then say as little as possible till you see a lawyer. Don't be holding your gun when the cops arrive.
