I worked at N.A.A. in 1978, before the 22 mag, the quality control was 2nd to none. We manufactured thousands of 22 long and 22 short in the time of my employ. We also had a short production run of the 454 Cassul (what a monster). Strict attention to quality and detail was always a huge concern. Thanks for the video hickok45.
My wife is a nighttime delivery driver. She wanted/needed to carry a gun. After shooting my glock 19 9mm she wanted something smaller so i got her a SCCY 9mm; she didnt like it, so i got her a Walther p22. She liked it but was scared to carry it because of size ( someone seeing it on her ) I bought her this 22 magnum and she absolutely loves it! And if shes not gonna carry it on her theres a large amount of time when shes out of her car it wont do her any good, but she carries this gun and loves it, and can hit with it, 5-10 yards also. Im happy she is happy
A j frame Style 38 or 9mm snubby or similar would be a much better choice. I have the same 22 and it's a cool novelty gun but she's better off with a knife. Dumb choice for carry
@clifford...rule #1, have a gun...sure, there are more capable firearms...but the .25 in my pocket beats the .45 in my safe, everyday...if the lady WILL carry a .22 and nothing else, good on her...every gun is a compromise, and there are Zero gaurentees no matter what anyone is carrying (yup, that includes me and you)...
@@JohnPublic-dk7zd I would normally agree if we were talking about a gun that at least met some aspects of practical operability. Like a Ruger lcr22 for instance. It's not the ideal cartridge but at least it's got a grip Big enough to operate it and it's double action so a dud 22 doesn't matter.... But that NAA is just false security. She might want to quit being stubborn and just carry something better if she's seriously in need of a carry gun. She's basically carrying a rabbits foot right now. Free country though... May the Lord bless her :)
@@cliffordrandell735 the lcr is a decent option, I note the OP says his missus concerned with size of weapon (the Walther p22)...the prime selling point of the NAA is it's utter concealability, over any questions of viability...these guns fail miserably at gunfighting, but at snot or earwax on the muzzle ranges they can work...i've always thought NAA might engineer the gun to carry less ammo in exchange for a smidgen of extra feature, perhaps double action (we rarely carry ours, always hammer down on empty chamber, we don't expect to get more than a couple shots off under duress), while maintaining the same size...we currently carrying a Jetfire, as seniors small, lightweight, low recoil are attractive features...a Baby Browning might be the ticket for her...
@@JohnPublic-dk7zd I think I'd even carry a Beretta 22 over my NAA. I LOVE it but it is absolutely false security. She'd make better use of the time spent drawing and trying to fire it by running.
I have one same configuration and love it. I keep it in my pocket when ever I go out of the house. Small simple and 5 shots for self defense that nobody knows you are carrying. A small caliber goes a long way to deter a threat in my opinion. Bullets big or small caliber hurt when you are on the receiving end.
Hickok, watching your videos makes me feel like I'm hanging out with some long lost relative of mine that loves to teach people about firearms. If everyone would watch your videos the world would be a better place and a few more people would appreciate firearms. Thank you for being who you are.
Make sure to one that comes with a .22 mag and a .22lr cylinder and you’re g2g. You can practice shooting for cheap but still have magnums if you carry it.
I am using this every day as back up edc. Living in South Africa I will not go anywhere without it. Also use it as my primary edc if the circumstances so require, for example when not allowed to carry into a music festival etc. Our local security not able to deduct if carried behind your belt buckle. Just love it!
I'm a 59 yr old woman & my husband just brought me this gun home as a present today. I LOVE IT! Of course, my hands are much smaller than yours & I'll only be using it for self-defense. I have wanted a derringer my whole life & couldn't be happier. Thank you for showing me around the gun. I want to make sure I know everything about it I can before I actually carry it.
Of course I have no idea of your experience, or if you have a big back yard, or access to a gun range, but please go somewhere that you can do the actual loading, aiming, & firing. Stay safe ❤
It’s not for fast reloading or for supreme accuracy : It’s for having that tiny bit of an edge over an attacker ; and increasing your chance of survival either slightly or dramatically, depending upon the shooters’ skill , respect for the weapon , and the urgency of the situation .
Not fast reloading, carry 2 or so of them. After shells are spent, drop gun and use your 2nd one if needed. Repeat as needed. Some call that a New York reload.
Great review. I saw this pistol just yesterday in a gun store but was concerned about the lack of a trigger guard. I’m a new shooter and every purchase is a learning experience. Now that I see how it works I’m totally gonna snatch one up. I have guns of all sizes and I can definitely see a place for this pistol in my collection. Now, I gotta say, knowing that you of all people choose to own one makes me all the more confident in my purchase.
This isn’t a range gun by ANY means ,but this is a gun you have as a backup or for those days where you can’t carry anything else! I got the 22lr which is the 2nd smallest firearm you can basically get so it’s the deepest concealment . Super good quality and an awesome piece to have
@@bigsur21 I support your right to carry but hopefully that's not your primary carry gun. If we were talking about a gun that at least met some aspects of practical operability. Thanks for doing the NAA 22 mag video Hickok! I love these little revolvers...owning two of them I typically carry one as a secondary option but have carried solo also! :) Great quality, fun to shoot, good conversation weapon. I used to laugh when looking at these attending gun show's until I shot one. Had to buy two and love them! Have a good weekend! Quigley
Another awesome review. I have the NAA 22LR version that fits in my pocket as a backup for my 9mm carry gun, since my 9mm won't fit in my pocket. Modern 22LR rounds are more than capable of providing ample close-range penetration to slow or stop a perpetrator.
This was made to be the secret back up gun, in case you had been disarmed from duty and back up guns. It should be carried as a 3rd gun or at least as 2nd gun. Not the only gun, unless you got no option. Early NAA ads showed this gun as a way to get out of a hostage like situation. You can also carry it ready in hand or jacket pocket, when in suspicious areas.
I carry an AR, a Mossberg 500 in a back scabbard, dual shoulder rig Glock 20s, a Kimber 1911 at my hip, a .38 5-shot on my right ankle and one of these in my front pocket. Just in case.
@@CorePathway I just purchased one last week at the local gun show. I'm gonna take it out later today and see how I like it. I carry a Kimber Raptor Micro 9 (concealed), but always wanted one of these because I have small hands. I'm a sixty-seven year old female, but I like at least a "partially," level playing field, if possible. Probably not gonna happen, but just in case.
I keep a 380 Derringer in my pocket and I have a few people pick on me but It will do either or of what I need it for which is get away or end the situation. If I get in an engagement with two or three guys with guns I'm probably up shit Creek anyway at that point.
@@trumpforceone2689 I live in Europe, so carrying a fork is a big no-no, so that's why I ask. I thought it's a difficult process to get a concealed carry license, unlike liberals claim anyone can buy a bazooka from wallmart. Anyway, thanks for the reply. Love the name ;)
@@mowglilp most states besides a few require concealed carry permits in order to conceal a firearm on your person in public. Its about 50/50 depending on your state weather or not open carry (gun in holster or in arms clearly displayed) is allowed. However some really liberal states such as Hawaii and New Hampshire and Vermont ect will not issue concealed carry permits to anyone for self defence even tho they are suppose to.
I just bought an NAA mini 22lr with the 1 5/8 barrel with folding grips from Bud’s gun shop. I was carrying a Colt Mustang .380, but it was having extractor issues. So, I sent it back to Colt to have their gunsmiths look at it. (Long process) I went unarmed for a few days and decided that was unacceptable. I didn’t want to be redundant with my Colt, so I got the NAA.
Great video as always! I have the .22LR version of this pistol and I had the exact same problem. I finally got the folding grips and it was a game-changer. SO much easier to shoot, and when carrying in a pocket it looks pretty much like a folding knife. I only wish it was the .22 magnum but loaded with CCI Stingers it's definitely nothing I'd want to be shot with. When fishing etc. I sometimes carry it with the first two chambers loaded with shot loads in case of aggressive snakes. And you're right- they are built like Swiss watches. Ultra-high quality.
I have one an have carried it for years. The first one I had was the short barreled 22lr. It was so small it was to easy to get my finger in front of the barrel. I let my brother have it an he carried it for years in a belt buckle holster. I replaced it with the longer barrel 22lr an got the older version of the folding grip. The older grip is better but it only fit the 22lr. It was changed to fit the 22 mag also. This is my carry everywhere gun. It is clipped in my back pocket. If I need to go somewhere with a "no guns" sign I can leave my OC gun in the truck an I still have this. Its also an extra reliable 5 shots for me. An in the event I need to hand someone a gun, I know I can hand it to almost anyone an they will be able to reliably get 5 shots out of it without having to stop an read a manual. Its not a gun I want to ever get in a gun fight but the best gun is the one you have. This gun I can even carry wearing nothing but swim trunks an no one knows its a gun if they even see it.
I LOVEmy North American Arms .22magnum pistol and its saved my life TWICE. Also you neglect to mention the fact that you can pull the hammer back til the first click, about a 16th of an inch. These are marvelous and well made firearm. Its not my S&W 500 but I promise you don't want shot with one. Greg Chaney in coastal N.C
I have carried my NAA .22 Magnum almost everyday of my life since I purchased it at a sporting goods store in 1992. Yes every day of my life! It has saved my life for sure. On one situation I was totally caught by surprise and I am positive I would not be typing this post if it was not for my NAA .22 Magnum. It was in the days right after Hurricane Katrina destroyed New Orleans. Use a small boot holster inside your waste band for slacks, and use the same boot holster inside the small otherwise useless pocket on your jeans. That small pocket on your jeans is absolutely perfect for holding your NAA .22 Magnum. Your untucked shirt will cover it almost all the time. Slipping your hand in your bigger lower pocket totally conceals the grip if your in "that kind of situation". Get that boot holster with the black metal clip made by Aker, and the oversized wooden or rubber grip. Your set. It will save your life and it is no more obtrusive or apparent as a belt clipped mobile phone. No one will see it unless they are really sizing you up and down. I have my CP. However, I have been told using the jean pocket qualifies as an open carry position. I won't go anywhere without my NAA .22 Magnum I will probably be buried with it. It is the best $145.00 I ever spent in my life.

Thanks for the video. The mention of killing a man dead reminds me of the video they showed in hunters safety as part of the gun safety portion of the program. “It was only a .22.” 22 magnum is no joke.
Have pocket carried one of these (with the grip) for almost 4 years now as a BUG to my 9mm. They ARE well made, have a tight fit, and solid. Yeah, it isn't a range gun but IMHO, it IS better than nothing and I bought it as a weapon of last resort.
I've had that same revolver for more than 20 years and I love it, it uses 22 long mag. hollow points, that carries enough power to do what ever needs to be done!
I have the same one in 22 Magnum. It was my moms and I got it when she passed away, I've never shot it, but now after watching your video I'm going to order the bigger grips and buy some 22 Magnum cartridges and go shoot it. Thanks for sharing another awesome video. Carl
My conceal gun is a Glock 27 which as you say is definitely a bulldog, but it is problematical to carry. M other guns really are not any better for carry like my Smith 686 357, Browning Hi-Power 9mm, etc. Then there is my little NAA magnum 1 1/8 inch barrel revolver (which I love by the way). I decided that there had to be a way for that little gun to be effective as a self-defense weapon. What I did was a whole lot of practice at hitting a target at 25 yards...yes, I know that I would never willingly get into a gunfight from that distance with a bad guy. However, hitting the target about 2/3 of the time was a success for me. So last week and then again today, I started shooting at a target only 10 feet away. About 90% of the time, I hit in about a 12 inch radius BUT I don't "aim" per say. That is, I have gotten good enough that I can empty the 5 cartridge cylinder in under 3 seconds and still hit in a 12 inch circle just about all the time without using the "sights" which are pretty primitive anyhow. I was shooting so fast that the range officer gave me a warning to only shoot 1 per second. My point is that IF you are very accurate close in, and can shoot single action quickly, then the small NAA becomes deadly. With 5 shots all in the torso, the probability is quite high that vital organs will be hit.
Thanks for the mention to FREEDOM ARMS. Dick Casul and his .454 was such a highly machined gun and the mini .22 was unique also, especially with the belt buckle that fed the gun into your hand.
Old video but fun to watch. I saw the NAA revolvers many years ago but had no interest in them. Recently, my interest has grown due to the many videos featuring the NAA mini revolver. I went to my local gun shop and held a few of them but was not happy with the way that they felt in my hand. That all changed when I held the Holster Grip version. I got one in .22 LR and the short 1.1" barrel. This gun melts in your pocket and you forget that you have it on you. A fun little revolver and it is accurate up to about 15 yards for me, with the Holster Grip.
I just got one in 22 magnum. I use it as my EDC backup. Carried right behind my Leatherman Wave and can hardly tell it's there. It's a blast to shoot with 22 mag shell shots!
I've carried one (or two) of these for several years. Mostly when I can't carry bigger. For what they are designed for, they are great. I had a guy jerk my car door open a few months ago and tell me I was in his car. I had seen him looking at me funny, so the mini was already in my hand. At about bad breath range, I doubt I would have missed. As soon as he saw it pointed at his face, he said "Oh, wrong car" and took off running. BTW, I did not have my full sized gun available at the time.
Hell yeah. All I want is a 22 for reasons like this. I'm not trying to get in a shoot out with anyone; just need something to hurt em up close with less damage.
well don't know about less damage. there are many .22mag rounds on the market like Hornady Critical 45gr FTX that are made for little pocket save your life pistols. That have vary similar ballistics as .380apc .The last thing you want is to be put in a situation with an armed attacker and the only way to get out alive is to shoot your firearm. but you also want to be sure that the attacker is not going to jump up and harm you. SO yea small hole lots of damage is what you want and knowing the difference in shooting and not shooting to ensure you safety!!!!!!! nice job Bill Strack....
Don't bet on it. A lot of "bangers" carry Davis .22 mag 2 shots around here. When I worked in a major prision, most all the inmates knew that .22 mags were a very bad round to get shot with. They called them "face guns",
I've owned the .22 mag NAA for over 20 years as well. I put the rubber grips that slip over the wooden grips on mine-just a little bit larger, but much easier to shoot. I also ground down the front sight so it shoots to point of aim. I've never had to use it thank God, but when a larger handgun is not possible, it's comforting to have the little revolver.
The 4 inch barrel version of this is a really neat trail gun. With it's good site and the 4 inch barrel it is amazingly accurate. Love my 4 inch mini mag all stainless revolver.
Currently own three different NAA models. Love them all. Customer service is awesome (had a special request on a limited edition model. They did exactly what I wanted and didn't charge me. Nice bonus with these is my collection doesn't take up much space :) Incredible quality, reaonable cost and super fun to shoot. What more can you ask for.
I've had mine for years and carry it as a backup. I can shoot it accurately now but it took a while. The stock grips made it almost impossible. Thanks for showing this...
I have carried one for about two decades. I truly love it. I carry the first two rounds as rat shot which is fatal to a squirrel at 8 feet. The pattern expands roughly one inch for every foot out of the barrel, so that 8 feet you have covered someone’s face, including their eyes. This is VERY distracting to the recipient. I usually carry it as my rattlesnake gun because, well used, it is also fatal to rattlesnakes at about 5-6 feet.
@@stargod3064 probably not. BP generates less pressure than smokeless, and out of a short barrel, I think it will have inferior performance. That said, it would still suck to take one to the face.
I never get tired of watching this guy, not only informative but he cracks me the hell up!! I come here first for insight from both him and son John. Great job guys! Keep em comin.....Texas
I tell ya... I’d never thought I’d be subscribing to an older mans TH-cam channel. This guys is enjoyable, informative and straight to the point. Most old dudes on TH-cam ramble on about nonsense. 👌🏼
I have owned several of these North American Arms 22 revolver. I have one currently which is called the North American Arms wasp. I have an oversized rubber grip on it. It is chambered for 22 magnum. I set mine back and I also had two chambered and timed for 22 long rifle. Meaning just like Heritage arms I have two different cylinders. I have carried a 22 magnum North American Arms revolver for at least 23 years. As a retired law enforcement officer I can say that I carry this gun every day everywhere that I can legally carry a firearm. It is reliable it is built like a Rolex watch or a Swiss timepiece it performs every time that you use it I have never had one fail me. I do agree you need an oversized grip if your hands are of any size of the small. The grip that you have on yours that folds up into the gun I do not own. But I do have an oversized rubber grip similar to that with on the North American Arms Black Widow. They're available from North American Arms for $25 roughly plus shipping and well worth the investment. The Notches between the cylinders are an added safety device. If you would ever buy one of these guns used that is an older model that does not have those notches cut between the cylinders. North American Arms will replace it for free. All you have to do is ship the gun unloaded through your FFL to North American Arms in Provo Utah they will replace and time the weapon with a new cylinder and send it back to you. They're well worth the investment and I do not consider myself almost armed with one I have confidence in the weapon. North American Arms used to have a ad in the mid-90s that said a single shot from a 22 caliber firearm may not be a One-Stop shot but it would definitely change the attackers attitude. And I believe that
I have the 22LR that I bought new about 40 yrs ago. It doesn't have the notches between the rounds. I have carried it in my pocket most of that time and it still looks very good!
I have the NAA revolver with the 1-5/8" barrel. My grips are made from molded PVC pipe with a built in pocket clip that makes it perfect for carrying in your front pocket, boot or waist. The PVC grips are similar to what Hickok has on his and extends the grip to where you can actually shoot and hit with it after a little bit of practice. I can shoot it very accurately up to 20' to 25'. For the times I can't carry anything larger, you can bet this little jewel is in my pocket or waist band. I run a couple of boxes of Hornady critical defense 45 grain bullets through it with zero problems and other cheaper practice rounds through it with no problems either. While I agree with Hickok that this is far from the perfect carry weapon, it's better than the gun you left at home because it's too big. After shooting this thing a lot and seeing what it can do, I know I would not want to be in front of it.
I got mine back when car-jackings were happening about every 5 minutes. Still love it. Never go anywhere without it. I remain confident that it'll stop the bad guy from getting in my truck. I wouldn't want to have to trust it at a greater range than that though. And the bigger grip is a MUST! Just can't hold onto it with the original. It really is a "get off me" gun. But one I wouldn't trade. I'm a big .22 mag fan & maybe that's why I favor this one. Most assuredly better than unarmed.
I Have Carried One Of These Little Mini-Mag Muff Guns Everywhere I Go Since 1998, Mine Has Been A Reliable, Trusted & Perfectly Concealable Weapon. They Are A Great Little Pistol.
Hickok 45, I don’t know if you read your comments but I have to say that you were the grandfather we all needed. I love you man and keep on going you are the best of the best
Great firearm ! Just got mine , not disappointed at all. 22 cal mag. It shoots amazing those 5 rounds. Bang . It's loud too..Northern American Arms Rock.
I have one. I put oversized rubber grips on it and made a leather pocket holster for it. These grips are almost as big as what you have, but less bulky. With the pocket holster, there is very little printing. I call it “ the gun I carry when I shouldn’t be carrying a gun”. Something is always better than nothing at all. And if needed, it could get you out of that “pinch”
people will have their opinions but I bought one of this for my back up and is something I can throw in the gym shorts if need be as I live in Florida. To me it just another option and a 22 mag will definitely mess up someone's day if they want to get silly. will it be my primary, absolutely not but it's quality and I forget I'm carrying it sometimes it's so small.
I own and carry one of these every day and it seems to be VERY high quality. That grip with the belt clip makes it nice to carry in the watch pocket of a pair of jeans. BTW, I would NOT want shot with a .22 mag hollow point.
Cool gun, but I have big hands, too. We played with it in 22lr. It's fun at the range, but, for larger hands, not too practical as a carry gun. But hey, as long as you hit the gong, life is good! Thanks for the demo of the .22 mag.
Good for you seeing the usefulness of firearms ESPECIALLY for women. God bless and I hope many, many more women follow your example. (I know that in fact many already are!)
Hickok 45s advice is always spot on, in my book. But no matter all the limitations that the mini/magnums have, there’s just something irresistible about them. I have a mini, a magnum and a Ranger II. I’ll never part with them, particularly that Ranger. It helps I have smaller paws, but even if I had big hands, I’d still have my small collection of them.
I had a NAA Mini 22LR (non magnum) for about 8-years. Mechanically it's about the same as the magnum; it has the safety notch as well. I must have carried it hundreds of times. One day it slipped out of my IWB holster while I was sitting on a chair at home and it fell onto the floor. Nobody was around to see and it didn't discharge, but when I picked it up I noticed that the hammer was now resting on a live round. I removed the cartridges, put the hammer in a safety notch, and dropped it a few more times. I found that depending on how it impacts the ground, the hammer can jump back a bit and allow the cylinder to rotate underneath it. I imagine if you had a two-impact-drop, the first impact could move a live round under the hammer and the second impact could cause an accidental discharge. Of course the recommendation is probably to avoid dropping the gun altogether, but I didn't feel safe carrying it after that. They're cool little guns but I think I'll just admire them instead of carry them.
I love the .22 lr mini NAA Revolver, priced right and exceptionally well made, just hate paying a high price for .22 magnum ammo. I suppose the combo gun kit with two cylinders .22 lr and .22 magnum really is best. I can shoot a NAA Recolver quite well, even with the tiny wood grips. A freind told he walked through the airport security checkpoint years ago, and got on the plane with his belt buckle mounted NAA mini Revolver, he was not caught. Something one should never ever attempt. 😮 I saw a topbreak model listed on Bud's gun shop.
You could probably put a knife and one of these in the same holster, so that way you get all the uses of knives, and good enough self defense on the same hip.
I just ordered the Black Widow. It's more practical IMHO. Thanks for your usual great review and discussion. Oh, and from what I can see, Federal Punch 45 grain loads are the best for these short barrels (we know you like Federal!).
YESSSSSS!!!!!! DUDE THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I CALL MINE!!! hahaha My fiancee only knows it by this name. Haha if we're going out and I ask her to grab me The Noisy Cricket, she knows to grab my NAA Mini lol
Regarding the NAA, I have had three of these little pistols. The first had a .22 long rifle and a .22 mag cylinder. I have a standard model that we keep in out bed headboard, and the third is with me all the time as a back up. Most people don't realize just how powerful these little guys are, when you shoot the magnum outside the muzzle blast is strong that it feels like some one throwing sand in your face and make sure you wear hearing protection because after the first shot my ears close up and I hear ringing for hours. The muzzle blast and flash are so intense that this little gun works great for home protection. If you really need it you don't have to worry as much about collateral damage from the little .22 bullet but when fired in a room, especially in the dark it is so bright and loud its like using a flash/bang grenade . The main thing you have to keep in mind is that this is a little bullet so shot placement is critical. I normally carry a S&W .38 spec Bodyguard or a .40 cal Glock 23, or in severe cases a S&W model 69, .44 mag. The little NAA .22 mag is always with in case anything happens and I loose control of my primary weapon I have something to fall back on. It may be small but in close-in emergencies it could be lethal !!!
Hickok you are awesome im thinking about getting your portrait tattooed on me,You have taught me so much about firearms through this TH-cam world. Hopefully next time you are at buds in Sevierville I can meet you.
Awesome I can't wait I have been watching you're videos for many years. Even before I purchased my first firearm. Needless to say you have thought me a lot. I know have a nice collection also a carry permit, And am now able to protect myself and those around me. Thank you and John for all the hard work.
hickok45 Love those guns! I have 4, including one just like that one but with the Black Widow grip, which I favor. These will tuck away nicely in the front pocket with a DeSantis Holster. Those with slightly longer barrels are easier to shoot. A little orange paint on the front sight helps a lot. Some have adjustable sights. The Black Widow, imo, is the best compromise for carry and shootability. The one with the 4" barrel makes a good backpacking/trail/kit gun. In 22 Magnum, depending on the barrel length, 30g bullets will shoot low and 45 g will shoot high at 7 yards. I mounted a laser sight on one like that in the video and made a pocket kydex sheath so the light doesn't turn on accidentally.
I would definitely get it done. I already know what picture I am gonna use its him holding a double barrel shot gun. Also its gonna say Life Is Good around it;)
I like that close up grip. It doesn't make a gun shaped lump in the pocket and it covers the trigger which is the scariest feature to me on these little things.
@@jaytimothy3645 North American Arms sells just the cylinders. You need to send the gun into the factory so it can be timed to the new cylinder. If you need more details see their website. I have never gone through that procedure.
Carried this small gun for forty years, no problem shooting, every! Big hands, no problem. Never let it rest between rounds in the cut out as the cylinder can easily turn on you and rest on a live round again. Always carry with four rounds only, allow the hammer to rest on a empty chamber. It locks well and dropping it, won’t fire! Yes I know, you only got four rounds, but safety is a must! This is a magnum load, very powerful.
Last time I posted a message on your channel was likely when you posted this video! Just thought I’d mention how entertaining it would be to see fire it with the original handle. Thank you for your years of service to the enjoyment of firearm ownership!
I got stopped for speeding in Nebraska and the officer patted me down and found my NAA 22LR. in my pocket. I was charged with carrying concealed back when there was no ccw permits available in Nebraska. The judge fined me $25.00 and told me I should get a bigger gun.
I have the exact same revolver. Great gun! I carry it along alot. I have a pocket clip on the handle, and it looks like you're are carrying a pocket knife. You have to be close , at least for me, within 7 yards, but with practice, I can hit what I'm aiming at. 22 mag is a mean little round for sure. Great conceal backup weapon.
I put the grip's belt clip on the right side...it fills the palm a little better (I'm a righty). Mine is interchangeable with a 22LR cylinder, and the LR rounds average 925 ft/sec and the WMR only average 825 out of my 1 1/8" barrel. I still EDC with the 22mags, because the greater noise and the fireball is a major deterrent in itself.
I've had my eye on those for decades since it was Freedom Arms. I saw the Ranger a few years ago. I love it! It's Schofield design is great. I'm very pleased. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸⚓

hickock 45 beat up on his own gun the whole show.....the gun that HE bought with HIS own money and has had for the last....20-YEARS, says it all. haha love it!!!
Nice to hear about the QC at NAA.
Thanks for posting that info.
Any idea how it might still be?
I just purchased a 22 mag combo today. The quality is absolutely incredible build wise.
Thanks for sharing friend, always admired the quality of the NAA products!
They are well made. I've owned several.
Idk whats more iconic hickoks voice or the sound of his foot steps on all the brass and shotgun shells

Why would size alter gun safety...

Also use it as my primary edc if the circumstances so require, for example when not allowed to carry into a music festival etc. Our local security not able to deduct if carried behind your belt buckle. A .22 mag HP in the upper chest has a 45% one shot stopper rate. I own one to.
I used one in self defense and the guy didn't make it.. so I agree 💯. It saved our life 🙏

Another awesome review. I have the NAA 22LR version that fits in my pocket as a backup for my 9mm carry gun, since my 9mm won't fit in my pocket. Modern 22LR rounds are more than capable of providing ample close-range penetration to slow or stop a perpetrator.
In your opinion what is the difference in penetrating power (assuming short-range) between 22LR vs. Magnum?
Wow. Is there not a handgun you can not shoot well? Simply amazing. IMO
He's amazing.
Right? This man is such a pro 😮

I just bought an NAA mini 22lr with the 1 5/8 barrel with folding grips from Bud’s gun shop.
I was carrying a Colt Mustang .380, but it was having extractor issues. So, I sent it back to Colt to have their gunsmiths look at it. (Long process)
I went unarmed for a few days and decided that was unacceptable. I didn’t want to be redundant with my Colt, so I got the NAA.
Hi, would you recommend the 1 1/8 or 1 5/8 barrel? Does it matter? Thanks!
This gun I can even carry wearing nothing but swim trunks an no one knows its a gun if they even see it.
lol this is the last gun i would "hand to anyone"

22 magnum is no joke.
Carl
Good idea to take to range to see where it hits. Awareness is key.
Thank you 45 , any protection is better than none ! These mini s are smooth bore, as such not a target gun. ! Made for up close and personal. !
I have 2 of these NAA mini revolvers and they have RIFLED bores. All NAA mini revolvers are rifled not smooth.

They called them "face guns",
Bill Strack sorry but I call bullshit!

@@robertcox1044 AGREE It is comforting to know it always there...especially when I hunt.

And I believe that
I love how every time Hickok45 critiques his own shooting he still doesn't miss and that gone leaves you no excuses
I have the 22LR that I bought new about 40 yrs ago. It doesn't have the notches between the rounds. I have carried it in my pocket most of that time and it still looks very good!

@@papatriot9882 Thanx for the info!
There's neck holsters, that make the draw faster and possible from any position.
You are an amazing shot! I have one of them and have a hard time hitting a target at 10 yards with my NAA.
Best part of the folding grip + clip is it does not need a holster, making it very comfortable to carry and easy to change carry positions.

Great review. I have the Pug and love it
i like the hogleg
Black Widow here
I have 22 magnum model. Love it. When I go get my mail and can’t carry my Berreta 92 or 357 magnum cannon, this fits my pocket.
???pug???
I love the .22 lr mini NAA Revolver, priced right and exceptionally well made, just hate paying a high price for .22 magnum ammo.
I suppose the combo gun kit with two cylinders .22 lr and .22 magnum really is best.
I can shoot a NAA Recolver quite well, even with the tiny wood grips.
A freind told he walked through the airport security checkpoint years ago, and got on the plane with his belt buckle mounted NAA mini Revolver, he was not caught.
Something one should never ever attempt. 😮
I saw a topbreak model listed on Bud's gun shop.
I carry this virtually every day. The only time I don't is when I'm carrying something bigger.
I carry it every day, even when I carry something bigger. The grip holster is genius.
I feel so much better about my purchase today!
@deucedeuce22oz
Back up, back up gun
You could probably put a knife and one of these in the same holster, so that way you get all the uses of knives, and good enough self defense on the same hip.
I carry it especially when im carry something bigger
He says it's hard to shoot but hits the gong on the first shot?
@akaitsmedre: Has this been confirmed ?
I just ordered the Black Widow. It's more practical IMHO. Thanks for your usual great review and discussion. Oh, and from what I can see, Federal Punch 45 grain loads are the best for these short barrels (we know you like Federal!).
I like how you walk and all you hear is spent brass and shells. Maybe one day my backyard will sound as good as yours.
I love those North American Arms pocket pistols.
"The noisy cricket"
waterdamnaged Hahaha Yes!
YESSSSSS!!!!!! DUDE THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I CALL MINE!!! hahaha
My fiancee only knows it by this name. Haha if we're going out and I ask her to grab me The Noisy Cricket, she knows to grab my NAA Mini lol
Richard kuklinski favorite weapon. I laugh at guys that underestimate these things,,,there "deadly" !!
@deucedeuce22oz no, .22 can't kill a man. maybe you could kill a fox but nothing bigger. it's just to scare away the attacker.
The ice man
@@Andrew-vt2wq read more about .22 shootings, they ARE deadly if used correctly...

I love mine. Just purchased the 1 5/8" .22 magnum with rosewood grips. Definitely need to swap it for the foldable grip.
Does this revolver come in 50 BMG?
Nope, only 30mm.
+Sourceror Fmnet Thanks man! I'll try looking around in the pawn shops for one. 😂
+Crabapple Annie ask Rick Harrison
NORMIES ARE NOT ALLOWED no telling what's gonna come through that door
Just buy the AP round upgrade and max it out
I have one of those in .22lr with the folding grip. I like the little thing. It is so easily concealable.
I have one. I like how it folds up like a jack knife.
Hickok you are awesome im thinking about getting your portrait tattooed on me,You have taught me so much about firearms through this TH-cam world. Hopefully next time you are at buds in Sevierville I can meet you.
Aj Moore We'll be there in October.
Aj Moore I just hope you were joking about that tatoo though....
Love the 2 inch Black Widow with rosewood grips. A pocket holster is a must, as it not only positions the gun better, but also holds extra ammo.
One way to speed load those is buy a extra cylinder.
You do a New York reload. Works every time.
Where could you buy an extra cylinder? Without having to buy a whole mother mini revolver
@@jaytimothy3645 North American Arms sells just the cylinders. You need to send the gun into the factory so it can be timed to the new cylinder. If you need more details see their website. I have never gone through that procedure.
They actually come with an extra cylinder when you purchase one, at least mine did.
I have one and carry my every day.
what can you kill with it?
@@creepywhiteguy3621 you don't carry a gun to kill. You carry to stop threats.

I carry mine around when running errands in gym shorts. I love it
Carried this small gun for forty years, no problem shooting, every!
Thank you for your years of service to the enjoyment of firearm ownership!
love how exited he was when he hit the gong
I like the black widow grips best, nice big and grippy rubber.
I'd say that one's nice I've got my eyes on that one to as well as the sidewinder and the model that has porting
So, it's the switchblade of pocket guns?
*does the Carlton with a pair of NAAs*
I like it! Wow! Listen to all the shells that he's hitting with his feet as he's walking around 14:23. 😁
Perfect for Very Close and In your Face Problems. Portability and Close-up Problems are Exactly what this 'Tool' was designed for. Better for a Backup 'Tool'. Cheers...
hickock 45 beat up on his own gun the whole show.....the gun that HE bought with HIS own money and has had for the last....20-YEARS, says it all. haha love it!!!
