Man, if only the Timberwolves held on to Ray Allen instead of trading him for Stephon Marbury in 1996. KG and Allen wouldn't have had to wait 12 years to win an NBA Championship together.
They very well could have won a championship in Minnesota. There is no way to tell what roster moves they would have made around those guys because we will never know.
Like I said we will never know the roster moves they would make around those guys. You can't just assume that they would do everything the same except replacing Marbury with Allen. Their draft position changes because they would be a better team, they never trade Marbury for the players they got in return and they don't pick up Latrell Sprewell because they already have a shooting guard in the 03-04 season. There are numerous other things that you also have to consider that wouldn't play out exactly the same.
The reason why it was so accurate is because of Michael Jordan. Jordan went through much of the same thing. He didn't trust his teammates, he thought he had to do everything and the coaching reinforced those notions. It was only after Phil Jackson came in and made Jordan aware that he had a team and he wasn't going to win without them, that he won and kept winning. The more you forget history the more it repeats itself.
A few differences though. Jordan didn't ask for a trade. Jordan was self aware enough that he didn't shoot his teams out of games. Jordan was on a much worse organization. Jordan would initially resist, but would also give things a chance to work. And would admit when he was wrong.
The reason MJ didn't "trust" his teammates early on though was because most of the Bulls roster during his early years was addicted to cocaine and he wasn't gonna blend with that crowd A more accurate statement would be that MJ hadn't developed or matured into a winner yet. That whole "selfish player" narrative is way overblown when you consider the state of those Bulls rosters in the 80s

I don't think this was ever about who was better. I think Allen might have been sore about the way Kobe showed him up in a preseason game, and let everyone know that Kobe just felt that he had to prove a point that he didn't need Shaq or anyone else. Later in the season Allen even entertained the idea of going to the Lakers. Why wouldn't you? They had Kobe... and I'm sure Allen felt that he had Kobe figured out well-enough that they could have been a good team.
Yeah...his teammates were awesome 06-07. He should've passed to them more often and been best friends with smush parker who had a great career after...

Such a good video. Always loved Ray Allen's game, but never had a great deal of interest in Kobe's... but to see this play out so succinctly in this video was fantastic, and I think I admire both players equally now. They had amazing careers and made NBA more memorable then than it is now.
This was very well done. I'm not knowledgeable on the NBA but I remember Shaq expressing a similar sentiment. I always thought KOBE needed at least 2 good players just like MJ. Its a team sport at the end of the day, not a knock on him just the reality of team sports.

Seth, really enjoy your 'Beef History' episodes. Thank you.
Mad respect for both players nice vid btw
I am VERY surprised that you didn't do a Beef History of Kobe and Shaq. It's like the most popular NBA beef.
I think there is no need of a video for that. That feud is very publicized, anybody could just simply write a summary out of it.
I recommend mike korzembas vid on that one. It’s really good
The last time that Milwaukee was in a Conference Final, until last night
Shhhhhh they got folded but we not gonna talk about it
Do the 2008 celtics beef or shaq and kobe beef
Red Dude I'd love to try some Kobe beef
Dude your expressions during the beef exposé are hysterical. Make me wish for more baller battle for you to document.
RIP KB
I loved this TH-cam channel
Beef history (triple h vs. Rock)
Beef History: How Tenderloin is made
That's not a beef history, that's a review of a fiction.
Just watch WWE and it will give you the history.

Kobe was truly a legend and lived an amazing life. I still can’t believe we lost him with his precious daughter Gigi. Rest easy🙏🏽.
I’ve never seen Mutumbo that pissed 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Great series, great narrator.
Good story! Could make a movie based on this
