This is one of the best bass covers i have seen, not only due to the fact that the cover was great but it was also extremely well shot and just looked amazing, especially when comparing it to the usual web cam recordings, great work
Thank you very much, man!
What a killer opening riff, I forgot how much I love this song.
Best bass cover of any song I've ever heard.
Damn, dude! Thank you so much!
Patrick Hunter honestly, 98% of youtube bass players suck. you are part of that 2% CONGRATS!
Kick ass bass. Kick ass bass line. Kick ass performance. Your energy is contagious, I think you've swung it for me. I'm going to learn this one next.
Deserves way more credit. This is simply amazing!
Man, exquisite tone. Great cover.
Holy mother of tone
dude that was AMAZING!!! and that sound is unbelievable. I just started playing at Christmas and got the Troy Sanders Squier. #BassGoals
Kick ass cover, and amazing production effort compared to 80% of covers out there, makes it much easier to watch and copy when trying to learn!
Mastodon is one of my all-time-favorites, so naturally I’m biased towards any type of Mastodon cover... But this is probably the most badass bass cover I have ever seen!
The editing, the quality, they really do match the awesome energy of your playing that this song absolutely warrants! Thank you for uploading!
Precision and feeling. Fantastic!
holy shit, that tone!!!
I'm not usually big on maple or lighter wood fretboards, but that bass is sexy as hell.
It's one of the best I've ever listened to. Inspiring.
Usually I am too lazy to sign in to post a comment but man this was an awesome cover I need to get me a sansamp and some patience lol
Never saw such a badass cover, fantastic!
Performance is great, video shooting is great, sound is great, song is of great fun - All Hail To The Mighty Red Beard!!
Can’t believe I didn’t see this till now!😂 so sick!🤘🏼🤘🏼
Awesome playing
Quality video
Beautiful bass
Subbed.
Incredibly badass. Sold my bass years ago and this makes me wanna go pick up another.
Great cover, good volume, awesome video
This was simply a treat to watch and listen
Keep it up, rock on!
Thanks Patrick - you are a talent that is appreciated...
Haha I just love how the (quite light gauche I assume?) strings flop around tunned to that low drop C! Great playing dude, great cover and superb sound... keep it up!!! Peace out
Great cover and video
Nailed it! As always!
could watch those strings bounce all day
SO COOL!
Brutal cover!!! Insanely good!!!
I'm dead. You Killed me. So great.

Gracias a este dude compré el OCD + Blacktop
So great!
Badass cover man!
Amazing!
Great tone!
AMAZING!
nice job ! The good thing about playing bass is you don't have to loose time messing around with gear, just buy one of these beautiful fenders :)
¡Sweet, mate!
Lovely!
very nice man!!!!!!!!!!!!
Отличный кавер!!!
Yeah that was Cool !
Man great take on this monster bass line! Just wondering, to play in drop c what gauge of strings do you use?
Man please do Asleep in the deep! Nice cover btw!
Very coolv man, really cool.
Very very very nice. dude!
who is watching in 2019? i love this video!
NICE!
Fuckin sick brother...much love from Tampa..
Brutal
Let me start saying that your cover is beyond amazing, great job indeed.
Two technical questions:
1. Did you change the tuners on your bass?
2. What strap locks are you using?
Thank you!
Dope!
mastodon isnt really known for their bass playing but damn do they have some nice basslines
Dayum that is a sexy cover. I really want tabs for this xD :c
This guy did a pretty good tab on Ultimate-Guitar! tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/m/mastodon/the_motherload_btab.htm
Sweet
Got a tablature or a lesson? :D Really great job, and nice setup you have there, jelous on the bass! :)
I love that bass. In fact, that bass would get it.
Big fan of your channel and your music. Love mastodon, thanks for this cover, it was awesome. How did you get the tone for this song?
Fucking amazing
Thank you, Patrick! Great help!
It is a really nice work!!!
Maybe I´m wrong, but I believe the audio does not correspond to the video for 4 secs from 2'49".
Awesome video and great cover! Any advice on how to set up the SansAmp to get that sound? I'm lovin' the tone.
This is awesome dude I've been looking around for a while to try and find tabs for this song but I can't find any good ones so if you have one could you give me a link to this songs tabs
Try this! tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/m/mastodon/the_motherload_btab.htm
Hey man, Awesome!!
I've never thought that a Jazz bass could sound so powerfull and Heavy as in your cover.
What's the tuning?
\o/
Drop C
Very nice. Nice video, great playing, and most importantly, great sound. What program do you use for video editing?
"Adobe Premiere CS6" - in the description
woops. thanks for letting me know.
Great performance and awesome video shooting. Although i have been making youtube videos for years i dont know anything about making them look so nice as this one. How do you get the dark background and the light on you; i know it sounds like a basic question but how do you get that look in your video? Thanks
Thanks man! And I actually set up a black 10x12 backdrop and adjust my softbox lights accordingly. Hope that helps!
Patrick Hunter awesome, thanks for replying
Patrick Hunter alternatively if you can't get good enough lighting just use a green screen and chroma key it black and dont wear green while doing that or you'll be chroma keyed out too
WOW
Awesome cover! Just wondering, isn't the tuning CGDG (from low to high) i stead of just drop C?
Great cover! Beautiful Jazz bass. I noticed the locking strap, is that the DiMarzio locking strap? How is it? I opted in to getting a Lock-It strap for my Ibanez instead.
Edge Of Darkness I use the DiMarzio ClipLok's on all of my basses! They're steady and I know there's no risk of them falling or slipping when I'm playing live, they've treated me well for years!
Thanks for the info! I also have a buddy that uses the DiMarzio ClipLok's on his ESP and he loves them. I can tell you, they at least look a hell of a lot better than a Lock-It and the clip is a lot better than having to pull the strap on and off the bass. Will be buying one or two for my basses!
sick cover man! do you have a tab for this?
What kind of T21 Sansamp were you using, cause I do have a VT Bass and with my MTD immensly customized(everything from neck to bridge and PU with Pre),with Quarter Pounder I can't get even close to that kind of sound.
+Andrei Florea It was the Bass Driver DI! Was a fun pedal, but I fell in love with the Darkglass B7K when I had gotten it and replaced the Sansamp instantly
Sick! Are you using flatwounds?
w.o.w.
Very nice! What are the strings you are using?
Hey man what pickups are you using? I’m just curious because they sound awesome.
I will get this video to 70k views I SWEAR!
What is exact name of your bass?
And by the way, killer playing and sound (subscribed).
Thanks man! And it's just a Made In Mexico Fender Jazz Bass with Seymour Duncan Basslines pickups in it!
Amazing tone!! What amp do you use?
🤘🤘🤘🤘
hey man just a quick question, I was wondering what strings you use and what gauge cause i'm over my standard strings and want to play heavier stuff.
Martyr Maggot I normally play in standard, so I just use Ernie Ball Slinky or Cobalt 50-105's. I didn't change my strings for this cover, just tuned down. I definitely suggest heading over to talkbass.com forums or thebass subreddit on Reddit and asking over there, those guys are always super helpful!
Patrick Hunter Thanks for the help bro
What gauge strings are you using?
are the pickups SJB3's ?
used your standart strings to drop c?
What sort of Duncans are you running? Quarter Pounds, or...?
Duncan Quarter Pounders, yes sir!
I can dig it! I reckon I should get a set for my MIM now!
is it just me or does that neck look reaaaally wide? Anyways... great cover! subbed!
That's just you, buddy! It's a Mighty Mite neck, so it's the same specs as a Fender Jazz neck!
Why and how fries everyone do this wavy string effect??
+Darien Lux It's just an effect of the lighting I use + shutter speed of my camera
+Patrick Hunter thanks for reading through my typo! What speed do you use?
+Patrick Hunter did you use multiple cameras or record this multiple times?
+Darien Lux The speed changes depending on the lighting and F stop of which lens I'm using.
I only use one camera and record the audio and first video track simultaneously then record another video track again from a different angle and do that over and over again. I put a lot of thought and time into each shot, so it's pretty time consuming to say the least
+Patrick Hunter I thought about doing something similar but I've been to lazy! I'm assuming you have a Canon or a Nikon?
C standard or drop C?
"Tuning is Drop C"
Any way I can get this tabs?
Nice. Now make one without pick :]
You messed up on the chorus
He does a fill there, but the rest is amazing
I was just winging it for all of the fills, so as with all of me covers, it's not 100% like the original!
use your pinkie
it wasn't really necessary
This on Beats headphones...
Beats are shit though...
This on DT770s
i a as taught is bad form to use anything above the 7th fret on the e string but whatever i guess, nice work
Nice bass though..sloppy
sloppy..
That's my middle name actually!
That bass got it's ass kicked.
