    This casual play and chat is quite enjoyable. It's nice to get to hear player talk; simply spectating on TV you don't get to know the players aside from a few trivial facts that the commentators share. Thanks Stephen for sharing it with us.

    Interesting to hear how both Joe and Stephen can articulate the weak parts of Neil Robertson's game very clearly. I remember a decade ago when Stephen was saying on television how Neil was a bad break builder, then Neil got those 100 centuries in a season, yet his positional play still looked second rate(for a top eight player, that is). And what Joe said about Neil going within himself is so true too, and Mark Selby has always been very aware of this whenever they've played in major finals. If you can get Neil to stop playing the game and start thinking about the game, you've got him. It's hard to stop him when he believes he's simply better than you, but when he starts thinking he has to "compete" instead of just crushing you, you can get him tangled.

    • @graemejack9040
      @graemejack9040 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think Hendry can be quite critical of players but it always seems from an honest perspective. There isn't any ill intent or malice behind it. In his videos with Ronnie they both agreed that Neil has thee best cue action they've ever seen. They also when talking about Neil talked about what Joe said here about Neil's weakness where he stops playing his own game and gets bogged down under other players tactics. Selby is the perfect example they used. Ronnie stated that the difference between Neil to himself and Hendry was their ability to resist falling into that trap and still playing their own game!! Ronnie would happily just play a wild shot and concede a frame against an opponent rather than change his game. Hendry too always stuck to his own game of attacking play. It did sometimes fail for Ronnie/Hendry against players like Selby/Ebdon but it didn't have any where near the negative impact because they played their own game!! I've seen Neil play some matches early on in tournaments and he's looked absolutely unbeatable then he's been comfortably beaten in the next round?

    stance related question?
    does the leading leg has to have angle ? i am not talking about the foot but the entire leg , i know some players have straight and some has bent legs , but my question is about the leg angle , does it have to be vertical straight or or like ladder when leaning to a wall?
    im confused thank you very much in advance

    • @joejones8146
      @joejones8146 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Does not "have to", but if you want a textbook answer you'd rather your dominant leg be straight and non dominant bent. Taller players can get away with bending both

    • @oneplus5562
      @oneplus5562 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Look at the best natural players like zhao Xintongs, thepchaiya,Jack Lisowski etc. they don't care about the leg not being straight or 90 degree angle. Theirs is not the square stance .
      Having said that, there are coaches who don't vouch for the square stance instead opt for a boxer stance or something in between. Hip grip gap is good and you get more of that when your leg is at an angle like a ladder leaning against a wall.

  • @sharpvidtube
    @sharpvidtube 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    I think the problem with Neil is the chasm between his A game and B game. No player can play their A game all the time, they all have dips in form. Ronnie was nowhere near the player he is now, before he worked with Ray Reardon and improved his B game. Judd managed to improve his B game so much, he won the masters with it. Selby, Higgins and Williams can all win when not at their best, but they learned to do that at a young age, I think it gets harder as you get older, but some still do it. Struggling against the lower ranked players is energy sapping, Neil's B game needs to be good enough to beat most of them easily. The time between shots is misleading, as every player plays faster when break building, so speeding up playing safety isn't going to help. Hopefully Neil can find a way to win while not playing his best, like Judd did, then he will be a real threat at the Crucible. He should be in the multiple world champions club. Hope Joe can help him.

    Can someone explain the potential foul at 13:40? I play 8/9 ball and if they are touching you can't just shoot it in a different direction and say they made contact. Is snooker different?

      Yep in snooker you have to shoot away from the ball if touching

      If it's touching ball you can play the shot as if it's making contact as soon as you hit it

      You cant have the cue ball connecting with the cue and object ball at the same time, or it’s deemed to be an illegal ‘push’ shot.

      But does that satisfy the requirement to hit a red ball on your first shot?
