Couldnt agree more, i have been watching snooker my entire life and I know absolutely nothing about all my favourite players ! This series has shown me more in a 20 minute episode than I've learned in 20 years of seeing them on the tables and in "interviews". Selt comes across wonderfully here too imo
For sure, the difference between his first couple of videos and now is night and day in terms of how naturally he's taken to being filmed. Why wasn't Matt given the opportunity to do the difficult table challenge though?
To right nice one pal with you all the way .I still see hendry as the greatest player and he should make a come back to the pro circuit he is a fantastic player
I’d be fascinated to see an episode with someone like Peter Lines, who’s been a pro for 30 years but never ranked in the top 32. I’d like to know how he’s managed to keep playing and how he makes enough money
Stephen I’m glad your doing this channel and bringing the content you are; you deserve TH-cam success because your opening eyes up to a side of the sport the snooker media/world don’t expose. Well done!!
I'd love to see a video with John Virgo and talking about big break, loved watching that as a kid, and talk about presenting and how easy or difficult that is for you both.
Can not echo all of these comments enough, I'm 14 mins into this episode currently and just felt I had to comment on how amazing this channel is, Stephen you are an absolute natural at this(and obviously an absolute natural at snooker)and genuinely puts a smile on my face watching your videos. Thanks for the videos and keep the content coming! Nice one Matt too👍🏻
Was great to get Matts honest opinions on the tour. How about some of the upcoming younger talent in the UK? There's got a be plenty that have not long been pro that we haven't/rarely seen, would love to hear their hunger and motivation thoughts.
The reason for the number 16 (and 32, and so on) is because of bracket-building. As long as matches are 1-on-1, every tournament has to be built on binary-based brackets (at least in some form). The Top 16 are the players you'd generally expect (based on results) to get to the last-16 of any given tournament.
unless you do a round robin stage, which they used to in the 1980s. I would quite like to see (for example) 10 groups of 5, top two going through from each group, then 4 groups of 5, top 2 going through, then a QF, at the worlds. Then the qualifiers all get at least 4 matches instead of one.
@@juchetony1910 round robin with 130 players ends up, more or less, looking like a champions league kinda format. For it to be more fairly done, it would take weeks. I think that's a bad idea to go for every tournament.
this channel just really highlights what an embarrassingly bad job the tv channels and WST have done of marketing the sport and the players. people fall in love with characters and thats what inspires them to follow someone's career. the lifeless, godawful interviews we get on tv make every single player come across terribly. hopefully they learn some lessons from what stephen's doing here - there are some great characters in the sport, we need to know about them!
I like the smooth camera movements with minimal editing. Feels very intimate, like we are stood there with you around the table. You are a great host, Stephen. Thanks to you and all your crew for producing these videos
I'd never been a fan of Matt until I seen this video. He comes across as quite intelligent and easy going whereas before I'd just seen him as a wind up merchant because of his media posts. Great content 👍
Interesting to hear about how difficult it is to make a living outside the top 16. I was aware of it already but interesting to hear from someone that lives and breathes it. Would love to see you with Dave Gilbert at his club. When I saw you play at 16, I knew you had something special about you. The only other person that gave me that feeling was Gilbert when I saw him play for the first time. He’s also had recent difficulties on the table and distracted by Pool so certainly plenty of content for a future Cue Tips
Please consider doing a video with a Break from life! You mentioned him in your last video, for me hes done more for snooker than anyone else in the world over the last few years espescially over the lockdowns. Love the channel.
Great idea! Barry Stark and Steve Barton from Barton Snooker on here as well as they are a strong part of snooker life for the fans in the TH-cam world.
@@Thin.disguise Thanks, I'll check out Barton and Stark. I just find A Break From Life so fun and down to earth. Really enjoying Stephen Hendrys new channel too. Like others on youtube, it's for the fans, not the sponsers.
This is quietly the best snooker channel on TH-cam. Its so nice to listen to people just having a conversation without anyone blowing smoke or pushing an agenda
Matt Selt has got to be one of most honest players I've seen interviewed. Honest and down to earth. No frills and fancy attitude with him. To bad some of the other top players aren't more like him.
I don't agree with that... Nothing against the guy, but this was by far my least favourite interview on Stephen´s channel. I don't know the guy, so I don't have a dog in the fight. Switched off half way through.
Stephen Hendry has to be the most likeable TV personality in the UK. He was my hero during the Eurosport era (in the late 80s-early 90's the only way to watch snooker in my country was through Eurosport).
Love this Chanel and the chats / interviews. This concept is showing the true side of a player’s personality which, due to sponsorship and tour politics, we wouldn’t see or hear when a player is interviewed at a tournament. Well done Stephen and long may the Chanel continue!
Great content Stephen can honestly say iv been watching snooker for many years and behind the scenes videos have been missing which you are now capturing which is great to watch and get to know the many behind the cue great work 👍
Selt nail on the head with the ranking and prize money. One good run from nowhere and someone guarantees themselves top ranking entry and money. Another great vid. Great channel
Neil Robinson a student of the game of snooker said, "Stephen Hendry was the most frightening player he ever played against and Ronnie was the best player he ever played!"
