I have a 4 stroke fmf power bomb and I just had my mid pipe vapor blasted. Planned on doing it all but the dude I bought it from welded next to the power bomb and my cousij conviced me to sand blast it and it would be the same. I decided to let it go because I was going to cerakote the whole pipe. The weld looked bad so I wanted to cover it up. Well I just got the mid pipe back and it has that natural blueish color. Looks like the original and that’s the look I originally wanted and didn’t know would come. My question is, could I polish up the header slightly maybe and then heat it like you did here and get the same result? Curious if I can get a different finish because it already has the sand blasted finish. It was a super fine media but still.
Polish it up with vapor blast or just some scotch bite pads! the welded spot will not turn blue most likely because it was already heated above the blue temp.
The colors would be brighter if you polish it first.
Will the heat gun alone get a majority of the color? I just bought a brand new one will it color up from just riding it?
yes it will. they also color up if its running hot or lean.
Can you use a hair dryer instead?
@@grantnewell hope your joking but no. Steel needs to get up to around 500-550F to start bluing.
Like the MX / Cafe racer mix in your videos. *Got a company in this. Let's talk?
awesome, send me an e-mail Jbaldwin0801@gmail.com

so we call it Case Hardened
Csgo fam
NICE ONE MOTO
Thank you!!
Will a hair dryer work instead of the heat gun?
Unfortunately, no. A hair dryer does not get hot enough.
How hot is your heat gun
is it bad for the pipe to torch it
No it’s fine as long as you don’t torch it too hot. It’s still a lower temp than the original welding process
So like how do you get the colors 😂😂
Can we colour a normal nickel pipe like this. I got a nickel exhaust pipe, if i heat it can i get this colour
You have to strip the nickel plating off first.
Acetylene torch or propane torch confused a little hahah
Can u link that heatgun please?
Can I use my heat gun??
does this work with stock ktm pipes? or they arent from titanium? 😃
Stock KTM pipes are nickel or chrome plated steel. They would have to be stopped first.
@@motoblast3574 what is stopping if you dont mind me asking?
I'm assuming you can do this with FMF fatty pipes? Also, will it rust?
Yes! Same process for the FMF pipes. And yes, it will rust if you don’t put some oil on it.
@@motoblast3574 What about maitinance on it after? Oil it often? How much does it cost to get the nickel removed?
@@jaselawrence5967 yes, oil after every wash or ride. It was $60 to have it stripped
I have a nickel plated pipe and a black exhaust header what do I have to use to get the paint off????.........
Paint stripper
Yes if paint stripper doesn’t work, just vapor blast it
can u link me the heatgun please?
I don’t remember where I got It! Most likely harbor freight
Can you use a hair dryer?
Does it matter if I have a brand new pipe
Na
Work on brand new pipe as well
Mine is black stock can I do it ?
Yes, but you have to strip the paint off first.
I just finished my yz125 pipe
What are you putting that pipe on
2001 kx125
could of sworn i saw a hole on one of the welds 0:13
Yes probably haha
I see that black dot now, does look like a hole but almost looks to perfect. Good eye
Will that work on a nickel plated pipe or do I have to have the nickel plating taken off
Yes you will have to take it off
Does the pipe rust so faster?
yes, you have to oil it
@@motoblast3574 what happens if u dont and it rusts a little bit? what do i do to get it off
@@bradyn2193 Sand it and If you want a clean end result polish it after sanding.
Does it wreak the pipe
Not the best for it but it will be fine for years still
Mine is still good. It’s about the same heat it would get from riding
