This was my favorite multiplayer game on the DS. From map glitches to gameplay mechanics, especially the time period it was in! People used to use the power beam in Combat Hall to shoot messages on the blank wall to share friend codes. There were crazy wall/out of map glitches and secrets that characters had. Trace could live through an omega cannon blast in its presence if he stayed invisible in triskelion form. You could punish people who went out the map with an imperialist (the red sniper laser) by aiming down its sights. When the reticle hyper focused on someone hiding behind the wall, the laser would go through the wall, in most cases, when you shot it. (Get wrecked cheaters.) If you used the judicator’s freeze ability with Noxus, there was also a term called ‘shadow freezing’. You aimed at the ground while charging the freezing shot, aiming at the ground towards the direction of a player. No matter how far away they were, if you aimed right, you could freeze people from far away. There’s just so much, yet so little you’d find online about it. I wish they’d remaster this masterpiece for handhelds or even other consoles, possibly make it a runnable game on a software like Dolphin. (Like how people run smash bros. Melee on their computer.) Heart-Achingly Nostalgic.

@PBJA89 I'm not going to defend Other M, but Federation Force really isn't a bad game, it's just not a proper metroid game. If you can accept it as a mission based co-op FPS with metroid prime style gameplay- it's actually pretty cool. I would even argue it has the best combat of all Prime games, enemies have localized damage and weak points, plus there are way more weapons and tools you can use. That being said I don't think it's really worth playing solo, but it can be a lot of fun with other people. Pretendo doesn't support it yet, but I will jump back in when it does

After watching the TAS and looking back, this is probably the worst Metroid game for singleplayer. Incredibly monotonous repeated mobs, tons of backtracking, many unforseen exploits even within the game's own mechanics (bomb jump skips and missile jumps. Look at Fusion for a tightly built Metroid), generic areas (lava, ship, desert), uncreative enemies (floating balls, crawling ball slugs, and wall switches being the main targets), and a 100% locked behind scanning everything. The game's saving graces are the multiplayer, tight controls, affinity weapon selection, and the final boss. I love this game, but if it's going to get a remake or remaster, they're going to need to completely rework the area exploits, the mob selection, and the boss selection at the very LEAST.
@@MemoryTAS It's just an objective flaw with the game structure, not a statement on subjective gameplay. Games such as Fusion can be created without a good chunk of oversights, but Hunters was made with many exploits that let the player skip the developer's crafted and intended pathway because of a mistake. Clearly, flaws can make a gamers' experiences more enjoyable, as watching this is thoroughly entertaining, but it is still an oversight in game design.
@@Spink_Prime Is this a problem with Super Metroid, a game where the game can also easily be broken with bomb jumps and wall jumps? I don't see why it's actually an issue
@@Spink_Prime Like I absolutely would agree the boss design was extremely weak and enemy variety could be heaps better. But I don't think game developers need to be omniscient. The oversights you were talking about aren't exactly braindead and require a tiny bit of thought for players to realize. There are some oversights that can happen without any real thought but these only occur in specific versions of the game. As a result I think these oversights are fine. Is gating the player to only do what is intended really necessary? Fusion has exploits and oversights too but you just don't see many of them due to how the game is structured to force you onto one path.
@@MemoryTAS Fusion does not have clipping or major sequence breaking, and the game mostly plays as the devs intended. For example, if devs wall off an area with something like a Judicator barrier, but you sequence break using a bomb jump, that is a mistake and oversight by the developers. The fact that super metroid can be sequence broken makes it flawed, but many things about super metroid are still well-designed. There are not many (if any) hitbox errors in super metroid like in Hunters (guardians had a hitbox error in a GDQ speedrun i watched). Super metroid doesn't also have major clipping and out-of-bounds issues with it, as far as i'm aware. Correct me if i'm wrong, but clipping is a result of faulty model design or a point where the model or boundary is not adequately represented by the visuals. Is super metroid flawed? Yes, most games are in one way or another, but we should celebrate the games that have few or no errors (if any exist), not excuse mediocrity in games like this because "all games have it" or something. Is clipping and sequence breaking in a way devs did not intend a mistake, and therefore a flaw? Yes. But we celebrate Super Metroid as a masterpiece with few flaws, and we look at Hunters as a flawed game with highlights. Also, whether you, the devs, other speedrunners, or I notice these faulty design elements or not, they are still there and still not desirable in a well-regarded and loved franchise.
