Test driven both. The BYD has a more appealing interior, whereas the MG is plasticy, hard and less refined. Same power figures and yes the rear wheel drive in the MG was nicer to drive. As a daily driver though, the BYD has my vote. Comfortable, better ADAS and Camera system. Voice Controls and in the Australian versions we get panoramic sun roof. The MG just didn't feel finished. The Battery chemistry at the end is what sold me. 64kWh NMC or a 60 kWh LFP? The 64kWh NMC is equivalent to a 52 kWh LFP... You should only charge it regularly to 80%. Why bother spending the bigger bucks on the bigger battery when it can't be fully charged?

I would go for the Dolphin because it is a more refined on the inside, it has a softer ride and it looks cute.

BYD Dolphin is my choice because as you say I'm mostly driving in the city. The car's gotta be comfy, handle potholes well and have a 360 camera for parking. Charging isn’t great but it's pretty flat and I've found driving a Leaf I want slightly longer charge stops than its 15-20 minutes.

BYD Dolphin has LFP battery and can be charged to 100% not recommended on the NMC battery in the MG4 64Kwh and thats a big factor too consider too

A neat feature on the Dolphin is that a digital clock appears on the main screen after pushing the volume rotary dial!

Thank you for this comparison however I think it would have been better to compare the 2 wheel drive version of the MG4 with pricing & warranty information. What you have done here is compared a hot hatch to a city car.

True, which I highlighted in the video.

The MG4 has a sportier exterior but the interior is bland and it's small screen is laggy and unresponsive like an Android tab from 2015. Dolphin is the better package.

I don't disagree with that observation

When Vib had a winter test they wanted to send the MG4 home, it was hopeless in snow ..

Well if it's based on looks, then it's no contest. The MG4 is sharp, masculine, well proportioned, and resolved. The Dolphins design is ruined by it's clumsy front end and looks like 3 different designers were responsible for the front, sides and rear.
Although the Dolphins interiors has better quality materials, it's quirky design will put a lot of people off. MG4 is more conventional and has way better packaging.

byd if ya planning to use it for long term. just so much more comfort and tech. if ya the kinda person who appreciates your car at the parking, then mg4 is for ya. interior is so meh. laggy old tech.

I am sure that I saw the same review in Spanish. When you were moaning about the front of the Dolphin you said "Feo".

    • @TotallyElectric
      @TotallyElectric  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't like the front 😉

@@TotallyElectric Ya lo sabía. The front of the Dolphin does seem to be a bit too long.
I am thinking about buying the Dolphin but will probably wait until next year for the dealer network to be established as there are only 25 dealers in the UK. Also the insurance can be expensive and hopefully the price could come down with a better dealer network.
I am learning Spanish and sometimes watch Spanish videos to improve it. Watching Spanish reviews of the Dolphin tells me about the car and improves my Spanish. It is not very good, but I hope to go to Spain for a birdwatching holiday next year.

Of course the Dolphin is better and nice looking. the Mg 4 is not good in terms of software, ride comfort and it's ugly and old fashioned looking.
