SHOCKING EVidence that Owning an ELECTRIC CAR is to RESTRICT HUMAN FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT!

    Are Electric Cars The Future?
    Should I Buy an EV?
    Are Electric Vehicles The Future?
Can I Tow a Trailer or Caravan With an Electric Car?
    Is The EV Infrastructure Ready?
If you are asking yourself any of these questions then I suggest you watch my journey from Wales to England in my All Electric Porsche Taycan. You'll clearly see how the Infrastructure is not ready and even if it was the amount of time taking to charge the batteries in your EV is simply not viable.
If we all buy Electric Cars then it will simply restrict Human Freedom of Movement.
However this is only my experience owning an EV. You may already own and Electric Car and it may or may not work for you. Have your say in the comments below. The BIG Question is, are we ready for an All Electric Future and is the battery technology way behind the cars themselves? Will 2030 in the UK and 2035 in the USA be the end for Petrol and Diesel Cars? Will we be laying to rest The Internal Combustion Engine? One things for sure... Only time will tell!

Well of course it is social engineering at its best, restrict the movement of the poor, keep them in their sink estates just like the Duke of wellington said about the Railways, he said I am against them as it encourages the Lower Orders to Circulate, funny how nothing changes after two hundred years.

It's simple. Unless the batteries get to a technological point where you can charge in the same time it takes to fill a petrol car, then electronic cars are not a replacement for fuel driven cars.

The weekend before last, I drove from my home in Liverpool to Kent to help my elderly parents 260 miles each way. On the Monday, I drove the round trip from Liverpool to near Derby to visit a customer. About 110 miles each way. Then on the Tuesday drove to Swansea. Distance 190 miles. Stayed until Friday and returned home. On the Saturday, we drove to the Cairngorms in North East Scotland. about 400 miles. Stayed until yesterday (Wednesday) when we returned home. With short journeys in the Cairngorms, that was well over 2000 miles in 12 days. Fortunately, I have a petrol car with over 500 miles range. Just imagine if I had an electric car!

In my view at this moment in time an EV is only good enough for the milk run, by that im'e referring to the milk floats that have been running for years. The one that came to our neck of the woods did a 30 mile round trip from its depot ,15 miles away. So yes EV's will become the norm but not until the infrastructure is put into place. Typical government thinking, cak handed thinking.I remember when Lord Stokes was head of BMC motors, he like the boss of mine was aloof to the man in the oily overalls, who could just manage a curt grunt of morning, this was when Japanese started getting a foothold in Britain and I remember reading an article that said that their management sat at the same tables as the men in oily overalls because thats how they found out the problems that needed fixing.

@Wooly Chewbakker you only need to look at the ev network in Wales to realise you can't take the true scenic routes (b roads) without having to detour and sit around charging at somewhere outside you ideal route, then that would rely on the charging point not being taken which as there are soo few it's likely they are going to be used, if you really want me to make a route then I will happily, set the vehicle range ( affordable 5 seater family ev car) and I will make you a route that will have no charging stations

Yes I agree what you are saying. If you are doing constant long trips or just one long trip, almost have to plan every time where the charging stations are to continue on your journeys - plus take in account the time to do the charges. Also take in the unexpected account of coming across obstacles, heavy traffic, road constructions during the trip.
That is what really delays/eats into having an EV, is the charging wait times vs pulling into a gas station (1 hour vs 5 min). Next is finding a working charging station that works for the EV you have. Lastly figuring out how far you can go on what the EV is indicating in the display. Seems to be kind of a nuisance to me to do simple Road Trips.
Gas Cars are so much simpler, fill up the tank and go. There are much more gas stations and they all work the same, and usually not broken.
So why get an EV car??? Is it really a convenience?? No. Don't sound like it to me if you are a trip/traveler or have to drive long distances to work every day. And if you are not in any hurry to meet someone. As more EV cars get on the road, the worse it will be to get your car charged up in any short period of time. just not enough charging stations.
I agree, Tesla cars are too minimal to me inside the car. Like you said, one big display and nothing else to look at inside the car. it is just a big mobile phone on wheels. i dont like them and we pay how much for them??? Ridiculous. I guess I am old hat and want something that looks like a car interior. Elon Musk can keep these cars.
Hmmmm!!! Idle Fees???? what the heck is that. learn something new each video.
I don't own an EV but learning allot from all these You Tube videos.
Good luck with your EV. Take Care.

I was interested that the video talks about "human freedom of movement" and indicates that electric vehicles won't (as yet) be able to match the capabilities of petrol driven ones. As far as the former goes, I have to say that there are plenty of humans in the UK whose "freedom of movement" is already pretty limited. If you are old, ill or just poor, and you live outside a big city, you find that the local bus services are usually limited, train fares and the complex pricing structures used make the railway way too expensive, and the National Express has taken off many of the services serving country towns, even large ones like Bury St Edmunds where I live. As a pensioner my ability to travel anywhere outside my locality is severely limited. OK, an electric car may not be as good as a petrol one, but just be grateful that you can afford to run either at the moment! Any kind of car is better than none at all.

I've watched and enjoyed many of your EV vlogs, because you are an engaging character and you make a perfectly valid point about the current very poor state of the public charging network. I think you have hammered home that point sufficiently now, so may I suggest that it does not need to be the primary focus of every one of your future EV vlogs? "My name is Paul, and I own an EV...". There, I've said it. Not only do I own an EV, but I am very satisfied with it, however I fully acknowledge that my car usage is very different to yours. I rarely exceed the range of my car in a day and so the poor public infrastructure is an occasional, yet highly annoying, inconvenience to me rather than the daily frustration it is for you. I am fortunate enough to be able to charge at home overnight on cheap rate electricity and having that option to charge at home is, I believe, a major pre-requisite for successfully running an EV at this point in time. If I had a job like yours, which involves daily high milage to unfamiliar locations, I think I would be giving EVs a wide berth at the moment until the charging network improved in availability and reliability, which it eventually must do. However, I am hopeful that the future of public charging will get brighter, sooner rather than later, because the big oil companies are not going to let their petrol & diesel revenue diminish over time without replacing that income stream with an alternative based on large scale EV charging. Peace and love, my friend, peace and love...

I love the EV bashing. It’s great so keep them coming. They are not cost efficient, don’t help the environment, very impractical for anything except commuter travel. The very expensive batteries deteriorate over time and must be replaced, the technology is evolving so they become obsolete as soon as they are driven off the dealership lot. Resale value is terrible! Bash on my friend! You are a wonderful personality who I enjoy!

I am going to Lancashire at the end of the month and its 265 miles each way, so just one stop on the way back. Just watching the last 10 mins of this video makes me convinced i have done the right thing

I think for someone who is literally travelling up, down and across the country, an electric car isn’t for you, not least until the fast charging network is expanded and battery range improved but for local travel and travel in built up urban areas they make perfect sense from an environmental perspective. I see chargers are now being installed in street lamps and bollards to help those in cities without driveways so the network is being improved, if not James May style (Captain Slow).

However we are very low users and doing the miles that you do i would not consider the ev. We never do more than about 20 miles at once so it is great for us but my friend i totally understand where you are coming from. I have to agree with you mate it surly can not be the thing of the future. Love your blogs well done.

I remember when I was taking road trips of around 1200 miles (round trip) in my Honda Civic Hybrid purchased in 2002. Basically I gassed up once, then maybe gassed up again for security (driving deep into the hinterlands) after 500 miles, and maybe gassed up a 3rd time on the return trip. Always ending with over half a tank as I returned home. Nominal range was ~ 620 miles/tank but I avoided pushing it too much even though 580/tank was easily achieved.

  • @brucejoseph8367
