    I've always wanted to be able to do this. Using Pillars on the edges to accent a building piece or to create a veranda would be awesome, but the default location sucks for that. Thank you so much for showing us these tricks!

    I tried this on a whim and did it. Came across your video today and wondered if we did it same.
    Sort of.
    Once the pillar is on the corner, you can attach floor tiles to it and place pillars on its center, which is now at the corner of the floor below it.
    Also, using the skinny Argossean pillars, you can place a wall between two corner pillars for some interesting builds.
    You can then replace that pillar with a different type of your choice.
    Building walls between pillars is finicky, but the skinny Argossean pillar seems to work best.

      There are indeed a few different ways to achieve these placements, interesting to hear how you did it. We haven't really played around with walls between pillars yet, going to have to try that!

    Great stuff :) I've previously used mods to achieve the same result, but wasn't aware there is a 'proper' way to do it - that could be very useful.

    I had no idea Dr. Floss played Conan Exiles!!! (ST:Discovery series). Thank you for this most excellent guide! I prefer not to rely on mods to do this sort of thing, since if they're not updated regularly you invariably have huge problems.

      Lol, you mean Dr. Phlox on Enterprise? (Confused, can't really see the comparison 😆). And glad to hear you find the guide helpful! We shared a few other building tips in our video "6 Building Tips for Creative Base Designs (No Mods)" if of interest, always good to have some non-mod options indeed!

    First step, build a skyscraper and attach staircases sideways and upside down to attach pillars. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
    It's a shame Funcom doesn't make building placement easier so you can get really creative without having to jump through hoops to do so.

    • @Pixelcave
      @Pixelcave  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Regarding your question, if you use the double-offset trick we used for the corner pillars (by using 2 normal foundations next to half a hexagon), it works to place a pillar exactly in the centre. Difficult to explain without images... I hope that makes sense?

    • @Pixelcave
      @Pixelcave  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh yes, it can be frustrating at times, but it's still (at least in our opinion) one of the best games with building mechanics out there. If you're on PC, mods can of course make all the difference, e.g. those that allow for building overlap, etc.

      The one at the edge of the pool? That's one of the fountains that comes with the Architects of Argos DLC. You can see all items included in that pack in our overview: th-cam.com/video/ov0HpUNUgF0/w-d-xo.html

    Does this give more stability?

    • @Pixelcave
      @Pixelcave  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would say no. We'd recommend to use any such building tips more as decorative additions and rely on other parts of the structure for stability. You are kind of tricking the system by building pillars like that and you never know when something might go wrong, or when Funcom is tweaking how things work.

    Just tried this after update 3.0 on ps4. Doesn't seem to work anymore. The pillars will no longer snap to the stairs.

    • @Pixelcave
      @Pixelcave  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We just tried it on PC and the pillars still snap to the top of the stairs as before. Unfortunately, we can't try it on PS4 - might be a console specific issue. Seeing there are quite a few bugs post launch, maybe that's one of them.

    • @joshuamcdowell1460
      @joshuamcdowell1460 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Still works on xbox. Not exactly the same, but it still works. You have to have a floor or ceiling for the pillar to snap to as well. And it snaps to the top of the stairs, but the stairs have to be beneath the pillar and floor. It's...buggy and weird

    • @joshuamcdowell1460
      @joshuamcdowell1460 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nevermind, still works fine on xbox, I was just doing it wrong. Also, you can use offset ceiling pieces to continue your pillar pattern in a line.

    • @crabblue
      @crabblue 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Joshua McDowell, thanks, i was a dumby lol. The pillars were snapping, they were just invisible 🤣 now my problem is, as i remove the ceiling pieces and stairs, 50% of the time the corner pillars are also removed. Is there any order in which i should be removing the spare pieces? Btw, I'm referring specifically to placing pillars on the corners of wedge foundations

    • @joshuamcdowell1460
      @joshuamcdowell1460 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@crabblue could be an issue of how much ground contact the corner pillars have. I haven't tried doing corner pillars on wedges yet.

    Up until the argossean dlc pillars were awful. They looked too skinny and out of place. The bigger pillars look natural and flow architecturally, whereas the others looked like pencils after a three
