Thanks, I am troubleshooting 2013 Golf R TSI for my neighbor with multiple issues ... long story short, he never changed the filter 🤣, Thanks again.

Thanks for checking out my video
Any other problems with it? I will be happy to support with too. I feel like I’ve had some weird ones with this car too 😅

Very good video. I'm stuck right now wrestling the cover off. I guess there are no tricks, just brute strength. All is disconnected, but the 4 posts that go into rubber grommets are not cooperating at all :-) Your video is very good at showing what needs disconnecting and how to do it.

      Really appreciate your feedback!
How have you been getting on with the cover?
I would suggest, placing your hands under the cover in the area of each grommet and lifting from there.
I honestly find, putting the cover back on. More of a headache.

Hey there, I did my filter on edition 35 gti (same intake layout as R) 4 years ago and found that removing cover when engine is hot/warm is FAR easier than cold engine as rubber grommets are softer.

BTW there is another Rubber Gasket for the OIL CAP which should be lift to fit at the top notch but not buckle. It will compress when pushing on the Engine Cover on top of it. If any of the Rubber Gromets stay on the Engine Mounts then they can be removed by placing a screwdriver through the hole and simply turning & pull them off. They belong on the Cover to begin with as you had seen. It goes on with very little effort which can be checked by lightly pulling each corner it has gripped.

      Thanks very much!
I should hopefully have some new content with the R in the near future.

Very informative video. Though I don’t have a Golf R, if I did then this would be the video I would use to change the air filter

I read on SCIROCCO R CENTRAL FORUM those Rubber Gromets need replacing each time and cost me £37 for 4.

That is news to me 😅
I can understand replacing them if it’s been on the car for a long time, being rubber over time it splits etc etc.
Like on other slightly older MK5 GTI, most of them need replacing. As most of them has split being so old.
Also, if they need replacing everytime. You would think VW would replace time annually when you bring the car in for a service too? 😂
Which I was never quoted or informed about when I used to take my car to VW.
Overall, I think it’s best to use your judgement if yours needs replacing or not.

@@WhatThePun yeah Dealer never listed them yet ask £460 for a Major Service. So now using local Garage at £58/hr for a 1 hr lookaround plus MOT, along with own Filters to swap each 4yrs.
"4x TSI engine cover rubber stop buffers grommets bumpers dampers
These should be replaced acc to the workshop manual when the cover is removed/serviced."

Feck me just my luck 🤦‍♂️ definitely think I'm gonna get an induction kit instead. I recently sold my mk7 golf gtd for a japanese import vw golf r. Is the import and the standard vw mk6 golf r the same setup? Might get a short induction kit.
I was looking at the mk7 but there's 100's of mk7 golf r's, not many mk6 plus I think the mk6 looks nicer, though slightly slower, but definitely faster than what I had

The was tempted by a few jap imports before too.
Feels like overall you are getting a much more solid example, no worry about rust and their version of MOT is more stricter than ours.
Congrats on the picking one up and I choose the MK6 over the Mk7 for the same reason, less on the road than the 7 and I prefer the look.
Definitely go for an open air intake kit if you’re after some big whoosh sounds. 😂
Also you get better power gains with an open air kit, I fitted the the RacingLine induction kit later on my R. Though it looks cool, but in terms of gains. Not as good as an open induction kit.

Also applies to Audi S3 8P models.

More work on the R than on a GTI. I have the GTI but anyway great job.

I clicked on the video cause I need to take the cover off case I hit a big bump on the interstate and now oil is leaking from under the left corner under the engine cover and need to see why its leaking
