Being Brazilian, I’m loving this idea. Keep going 😂 (For those who don’t know, the Fox is a Brazilian car. I definitely recommend searching for the latest version so you can see how far we’ve come with that AHAHAH)
I love your idea of making sport versions of cars that never had them, like your previous Honda Jazz Type-R, now the VW Fox GTi. This is even cooler for me because I'm from Brazil where the Fox was originally created.
That's a boring build. Also I think the odd person had done that before. Considering the fox was the lupo replacement there was no sport version, just the 1.2 & 1.4, so making your own is much more interesting.
I just stumbled upon this video from a TH-cam recommendation on the home screen. Good stuff this, I like a good sleeper car. Please do be aware that even though the 1.8t is legendary and quite easy to tune for more HP's, it's also notorious for giving problems based on vacuum/breather hoses, especially now most of them are aging and hoses/clamps become more brittle from earlier 1.8t models. Any small leak or tear will cause trouble in keeping the engine running properly. Easy fix usually with a new hose or clamp, but sometimes complete hell to find the source of the problem sometimes. I recently had a loose breather hose due to a failing standard clamp and it made the engine run horrible in idle, as well as no brake pressure anymore as it relies on the vacuum. So if you're at it, please upgrade all clamps and hoses where possible for silicone or something new/better. Plenty of kits around to replace the OEM hoses/pipes. I managed to build the Cupra that Seat never made several years ago now with my Cordoba 6L (last generation 4 door sedan). Complete 1.8T BBU engine swap, derived from an Ibiza 6L Cupra. Thankfully the platform was more or less identical in the front, though we still faced some difficulties. Also managed to make it street legal by having it tested on track by the local vehicle authorities (RDW Netherlands) and having the vehicle registration updated. Your engine, the 1.8t BJX (150HP) is also used in the Ibiza 6L FR 1.8T. The BBU is just the bit more powerful version of it (180HP standard) and was also used for the Polo 1.8T GTI CUP edition. This may help in finding relevant parts, looking for compatibility, etc. Personally I expect that you will mainly experience issues with: - driveshafts (will need shortening?) - wiring loom I am actually surprised that the engine mounts of the Fox are similar to the Polo. Please also be cautious about possible exhaust upgrades if you want to keep it street legal due to the dual oxygen sensors / lambdas. Upgrading the catalytic converter or emptying/deleting it will mess up your motor management and air/fuel mixing when you plan on using your stock ECU. Also, be aware that you'll have to make the ABS system work completely when considering using the standard ECU, loom, cockpit etc. As your speed gauge uses the ABS sensors to read speed properly. P.s. your GTI already had an FMIC upgrade, normally they come with small SMIC intercoolers.
Oh also, should the brakes still be stock, you can easily upgrade to front brakes from a first gen Audi TT 8n (312mm). Stock Polo GTI brakes are 286mm or something like that?
Maybe would be worth doing belts and service while it’s a lot easier mate , peace of mind and all that specially if you want to be shoving some more horses through it 🎉🎉 .
i love that you're the only person taking genuinely shit cars that no one really wants and making them into cool motors that are actually desirable. Keep it up man! Hope we get to see a Rover build or something hahaha
Iv had around 12. 20v 1.8t engines Not gonna lie Jack you should of done the hybrid turbo first before putting the engine in there a right pain in the ars3 to change when in the car
Show what people no bhp ain't the problem it's the torque that bends the rods and how it's mapped if the torque comes in to soon we'll won't last long built loads of 1.8t engines never had a rod bend yet proper mapper and your good 👍🙏
I love this content so much man, I remember seeing you on TikTok with Boris and then found your channel here when you started with the jazz. I’d say this is a bit of a unique content you are making as not many sleepers builds of this class are on YT. I love it!
Iv got one of these with a 20 valve turbo shoehorned in. With a k300 and all supporting mods making just over 300 It’s savage.. I can Litterally keep pace with Rs6 m4s etc It was last on the scales at 960 kilos will post up videos in due course
You should also swap the steering rack (shorter), and front brakes (maybe the brakebooster). 300hp is awesome in a hot hatch but braking is also important. A proper hybrid turbo will definetly go above 300hp. My S3 1.8t runs 279 Hp on a K04. (With stock intercoolers and piping)
I only subscribed when you started the jazz because i like Honda's but glad i did because i like the fox project too because i had a 1.8 amk engine in a seat. Shame about the polo though but very good viewing and looking forward to see the results.
Very nice work! I'm doing my first engine swap right now, building a Fiat Panda with a 1.4 T-Jet from a 595 Turismo. I will be happy with around 230 ps!
Make sure u poly bush all 3 engine gearbox and dog bone mounts bc they soon go after a few pulls mine did and my golf isn't heavy either 1125kg on mot day full tank get them set up they are very very fun on track
Here in Brazil,VW Fox never got a orientated performance version like a GTi,your project is out of box, really cool! Hey,do you want to sell some parts of your Polo GTi ??Send to Brazil???😅
I'm scrapping a 06 Fox this week, clutch is slipping and can't be bothered so got another car. Getting parts is real hard as there is only about 950 left on UK roads so non in any scrap yards.
Oh man, that is so cool, if you could import the Pepper version parts of the fox sold in Brazil it would look sick. Since the pepper is just a facelift.
Hi Jack. Great update and progress. I’m considering an engine swap myself, would you mind letting me know who is sorting your looms out, please? Thanks🤙
I’m currently doing a apx 225 conversion on my golf gti agu , bought a tt and stripped it to bits in honesty I woulda used the 225 bam or apx in this as there ko4 stock and can make some very nice power
@@BFR. it’ll take it but not for long. It’s the torque that’s the issue and these engines when tuned will generally make the same torque as hp. Anywhere about 280 hp and 280 lbft and your rods are right at the limit. Even the BAM rods. If you’ve got the engine apart to fit the AGU head (that was my setup back in the day) it’s well worth putting forged rods in. I’ve rebuilt tons of these with damaged rods at less than 300.
This is crazy cool! I would love to see an older Vauxhall Corsa, maybe B or C turned into a true VXR some day, might even try it myself at some point, who knows! All i know is is that your doing an amazing job mate and i cant wait to continue following you in your endeavours!
I notice the dealer number plate says Cardiff Volkswagen. I was an apprentice technician there in 2006 - I may have been the one who did the PDI on that car.
I am currently building a polo 1.9 PD TDIwith a hydride turbo and has a 220 BHPmap when running will go on dyno ,,,had to cut chassis to get it in but should be worth it ..
Jack while you’ve got the bumper off the fox, check the plugs to the steering module they have a tendency to corrode up and give you all sorts of problems
Would love to see you do a 2007 - 2011 mazda 2 build. I own one and would love to see what could be done to it. There is a 2.3l turbo engine from a mazda 3 that would work great😂
Quite a bit of experience with these engines and I would strongly recommend replacing the con rods if you’re going anywhere near 300bhp. Even the uprated rods in the Audi BAM 1.8t won’t cope with that power.
Definitely beneficial to buy a donor car especially financially. Looks like the polo has coilovers fitted? If so hopefully they can be swapped over like the brakes. It's going to be another cool swap like the jazz. Should do a micra GTR.
Would have said get a mk1 TT Bam engine as its a 1.8T but 225 standard. Different intake layout and different turbo. instead but as your using the other larts from the Polo it makes sense
Nice, due to being lazy I didn't watch the video entirely however; Are you planning to possibly give it a subtle bodykit? Might look sick with a gti-esque kit like bumper lips, skirts n all that. Loved the video btw

Nice to se it done I had one of these that I payed 180 quid for wasn't to bad tbh got it for scrap as the owner died still had mot
Do a track build with Polo GTI. Convert to AWD and swap EA888 drivetrain from Mk.7 Golf GTI, gonna be so sick
Yeah drop £15k on a Polo lol
Bro is only young lol he isn't Mr beast yet
Don't scrap the polo, that body looked clean. Infact you should get a different engine to put in it
VR6 - like a chain of 'upgrade' lol
Fox 1.8T
Polo VR6
@@danney5036this is the only thing that makes sense. Why bother with the fox otherwise if the platform is the same?
He is just out here making sleepers at this point lol, loving it :)

The 9n3 2 door is so rare, give me the rolling chassis😭🙌🏼
Do a build series with the remains of the Polo! would be much cooler than seeing it scrapped
Yes please don't reduce the number of perfectly good retro cars on the road. They're becoming fewer and fewer. Please give it some form of life.
Even if you sell it
Yea make it a BWA and dsg swap
VR6 swap? If we want to go real crazy cut up the floor to add an AWD system and make it a mini MK4 R32 Golf
@@cameronpoulter2099it’s a shitbox, scrapping it would mean nothing of value would be lost 😂😂

VR6 maybe.
