You can probably get two glass packs mufflers $50 each or something similar from a muffler shop that fit in the exhaust tip exits and throw them in before you start your truck when you're home. Take them off when the idle drops. The borla tips are 2.25" I think and glasspacks are 2" on both ends. It'll be a significantly quieter start when you want it to be. It's like a makeshift silencer/baffle.
Scratch that, saw a TikTok just now where someone cut a pool noodle, wrapped the end going into the exhaust with a microfiber towel (I'm guessing to give it the necessary thickness to stick) and ducktaped it together. Much cheaper than $100 glass packs and you can take them with you. When he popped them off, his exhaust was louder than yours. Very impressed. I'm gonna try it out with my ATAK to see how effective it is and then get some catted headers once I decide which brand.
I bought two 3-4 inch tapered air duct pipes, (about half a foot in length) stuffed them with ceramic insultation and taped one end off with high heat aluminum tape, and attached heavy duty clamps to each pipe with bolts. every time I'm home and am about to start my truck, I put each air duct pipe inside each exhaust tip and clamp it to it so it doesn't fly out from the exhaust pressure. it significantly quiets down my ridiculously loud cold start. all thanks to your great idea. I could record a short video showing how it looks and how it works if you want.
@@Eli5.0 glad to have inspired you. Yeah a video would be cool. I can link people directly to your video so they can see what options they can use to quiet down the exhaust. Next Saturday I'm installing my LTH longtubes with friends. So we'll be just as loud. I can post a quick video of the pool noodle mod too. It's crazy how quiet it gets. It's quieter than stock!
been watching your vids a lot, i have a 2018 F150 Lariat 5.0 and so far i have the Borla Atak catback, K&N intake, but no tune, i’m back and forth on whether or not i should get Kooks LTH, i park on my driveway and have to start my truck at 6am mon-fri so that weighs into my decision and is why i’ve been so hesitant, my neighbors have never said anything or complained about how my truck sounds currently but i’m just worried because i’ve never heard your setup in person to make the judgement call, however, i really love the way your setup sounds and it keeps me coming back to wanting LTH wanted to hear your opinion as someone who daily drives this setup, i appreciate it
yes, I do. I haven't uploaded because I haven't gone camping in a while. I'll try to go and record some clips when I get some free time and go camping. Thanks for watching!
Both. It’s somewhat loud while cruising but not drone-y, and the headers just amplifies the Borla atak catback. The cold starts are ungodly and out of this world insane loud. These coyotes have one of the loudest cold starts out of all v8 engines. Sounds great in person!
OZ Omega tune. If you already have a Ram, have you tried putting an aftermarket exhaust on it? Also, there are a few manufacturers that offer long tube headers for Ram trucks, including Kooks, same brand I’m using.
@@Eli5.0 yes I have. Don't get me wrong I prefer the hemi sound. Had a 5th gen Ram that was just totaled. Bolt ons, tune, and exhaust. Very fun. Really expensive to replace with the market right now so I've been looking at used 2017+ coyote f150s. Change things up a bit so I've been watching videos like this to decide.
@@paulhagy27 go for it mate. Best of luck! And yes, OZ is definitely one of the best out there for f150 coyotes. They even revised my tune after I requested my rpm’s to idle higher at 750 instead of the usual 500 range. Makes my truck sound even better and throatier at idle.
2015. Kooks is definitely the way to go regarding long tube headers. Another good brand to go with is Stainless Works and 2mFabrication. I’m not sure if all those brands are available for your 2014 year, you’ll have to look it up. Thanks for watching!
Yes, it does change it a lot. Stock exhaust manifolds (headers) are extremely restrictive in air flow, therefore much quieter than aftermarket long tubes. Exhaust videos don’t do exhausts justice. This set up is ear piercingly loud and can be heard from miles away. And yes, I agree it’s too expensive, but for me it was worth it. Thanks for watching!
@@Eli5.0 I have a Flowmaster super 10 catback. Its that tiny muffler, so I think it restricts airflow alittle. I’ll look into it. But just so you know, the exhaust tips for borla ataks are actually 4” not 2.25”
Pipe Diameter: 3" into muffler, dual 2.25" out"
