Cool old guitar
I have a ‘62 with the soft shell case. Has the full Maestro tailpiece (which I use) and the case with the red lining inside has held up well. The dogear P90 pickup really cranks!
Have you had it for a long time, or did you recently buy it? Juniors cost a mint (no pun intended) these days.
Love the juniors!

oh Jr is rockin , never was real big on the SG , tho Angus is certainly one of rocks most iconic figures , but slap a P90 in one and call it Jr. and I'm all over that , love the sound , love the look , just something so cool about the simple straight ahead rock monster. Great set Mark , well done again , and there's your tele Tuesday.
Mark, dig your playing. People complain about "being in perfect tune" all the time, getting kinda redundant. These are old instruments, expensive yes but old. So what if they dont intonate perfect, they're still badass. Throw a Snark on the headstock as a visual aid to please the haters, lol.

Timothy Flyte I got the Epi Les Paul with Probucker pickups for just $350 and it plays like a real Gibson.

I'm beginning to think those P90s they put in those old Gibsons are maybe the best sounding pickups I've ever heard. Jesus that sounded fucking sick.
I'm more with the Gretsch's I don't think I've ever tried a terada one but I have a terada and it's amazing so I'm sure it'll be whatever's in those but not for every song obviously and shouldn't compare Tomo says anyways I'll probably even use them less

$4,995.00. Damn. Bought mine in 1967 for $175.00 sold it in 1972 for $240.00. The first mistake I made but sadly not the last...
price check?? If i could afford it, i pay it over anything 'strat' related.
Ouch man, but who knew? In 1970 you could buy a fully loaded Chevelle SS for about 4k or so, now they're six figure automobiles. Who knew?
These can be had for $3000 pretty regular. You can find the 2 P-90 SG Specials with wiggle stick for $3000-$4000 as well
But back then, they were just guitars, there wasn't a thing called "vintage", then. Nobody ever thought that there would be some guy like Norm, who hoarded away hundreds of guitars for 20-30 years, so that he could sell them back to the kids that bought and played them when they were new. At a sizeable mark-up, of course.
I wonder if the dream of reliving our youths, at any cost, will die out with the last of my generation, (Boomers)?
$5K!?! Since everything supposedly negotiable, the real value of this piece of wood is probably more like $2,5K, maybe less...

Mark the guitar is called a lawsuit guitar. Les Paul had to sue Gibson to stop them from putting his name on a low budget guitar... He won the lawsuit.... & 62 was the last year they were supposed to use his name on SGs.... but they still used his name the first 2 or 3 months of 63. He went after Gibson for it. & they stopped. My reference is a book called American Guitars by Tom Wheeler edited by Walter Carter and Tony Bacon.

That was my first electric guitar ever. I traded it in1969 for a Fender acrostic so I could play at the park, it was the beginning of the Jesus movement 🙂. Wish I still had it though.
That sound was another ritual sacrifice being performed, I've attended many for we are legion

Far be it for me to suggest anything but rolling the tone back on a p-90 can make a huge difference. Doesn't need to be drastic. Just a 1/4 turn.
Please bring back that Super-Sonic and sell that POS '64 Reissue to Stallone
Some people romanticize about the Vintage hand-wired amps. Even if they sound like crap.
Super-Sonics were killer amps. I read about them in GP before i heard one. That guy tore thru it, blues to shred!
