Watching Mark five years ago reminds of simpler times, an alternate universe where I work happy as a clam at the neighborhood vintage guitar shop.
Man that era Sg is rapidly becoming my favorite sound. Coupled with a big ole fender tube amp with lots and lots of reverb!! Happy birthday to your son mark
They say, days are so long, but the years goes by so fast. Remember that. I look back and wish I had half my life back. GOTD is fantastic because of how much you love what yo do.

I had a Les Paul Junior with SG body style, single P90 pickup. At the same time.. I had another in solid double cut away, single P90 as well. The difference in weight was quite significant. I made this "device" out of tin.. in my dad's garage.. and attached it to the back of the SG style so I could hook the guitar to my belt.. so I didn't have to use a strap. I discovered I could "spin" the guitar around.. as long as the chord was out in front of me. I made it part of the show. That's right. I was a kid.. spinning my guitar around.. long before ZZ Top ever did it with the Flying V... Later.. I stripped it down and painted it black after I smashed it on stage one night. We'd glued it back together. I gave it away.. to my first wife's nephew. I remember seeing Badfinger on the Kenny Rogers Show.. I thought... "Man.. how come their guitars have all that extra shit on them?" I didn't know the SG was "a thing." Then.. the other guy in my band got one. I hated his guts. Mostly because he was better than me, which wasn't saying much, at the time; but, also, because his guitar had more knobs and buttons and a vibrato and made different sounds. He had a Fender Twin Reverb. I had a fifty-watt Silvertone. I traded the other Junior back to my cousin for a Stratocaster. A black one with a brass pick guard. It would feedback like a bitch. I ended up running that one up my arm. When you're a kid.. and you're just surrounded by stuff.. you just don't know and you just don't care. Happy birthday Luca. Keep your nose clean, boy.

Quite literally my dream guitar, but far to out of my budget. I have great Epiphone SG’s that are always there for me though. One day I’ll have a vintage SG with a Maestro.

I’ve been watching this channel for a couple of years now and I can honestly say that GOTD has played a big part in me getting back into playing guitar.
Keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing more episodes full of absolutely bitching guitars.

That's a lovely SG. I have one. Little known fact is that the SG by volume is Gibson's best selling guitar (apparently)
Guy at my church has a vintage 65 sg. Almost all nickel hardware and thicker neck. Man is it perfect. And to think he likes my epi les Paul just as much lol 😂

Crazy Uncle Duke he already did a sitar sometime last year. Sort of. It was the old Coral electric sitar.
I watched the Coral vid but I'm sure they made more than one Coral sitar in different colors..
After watching 600 videos I'm looking for a little more variety.

As far as GUITARS it would be easy to change a consonant and drop a vowel to spell SITARS. :-)
Crazy Uncle Duke I'm sure they made them in different colors, too - the problem is that not very many were made, and they never sold well. They're not easy to find...although Norm may have a stockpile somewhere "...in the back room."
Jerry Garcia played a 67 SG Standard (with a Bigsby I think) I always loved that era Dead and the look of those guitars.
John Cippolina, of Quicksilver! He played the F***,out of an SG, and had the best pick guard EVER!

Why did Gibson change to chrome? I'm guessing it's a huge cost savings.
Anthony Nonya. Chrome holds up better than nickel does. I bought a Gibson Les Paul Heritage 80 Elite new in ‘81, had it on the road with me. Kept it clean, when I wasn’t playing it, it was in the case. One afternoon, a thunderstorm came through, it got real humid, and in fifteen minutes the nickel parts went from bright and shiny to dull and worn-looking. And the guitar was in the case, in the motel room. Killed my strings too. Fifteen minutes! I couldn’t believe it. Those Midwest thunderstorms are no joke!
LOL I laughed so hard when Mark just turns around and started busting that guys balls lol. That was funny. Mark you should switch amps every once in a while. (Don't get me wrong the fender sounds amazing! but just want a different sound every once in a while ;)..)
