I started carnivore 2 years ago, i lost maybe 40 lbs the first year, i also was very ill. Bed ridden for 6 years. I started feel8ng better right away. I started sleeping so much better, i used to have stabbing pains in my arms and legs , that was horrible. I dont believe in dr.s so 8 havent been for over 50 years, oh yea im old....ive now lost 65 lbs and my arthritis pain is so much better that some days i feel like its completely gone. I see the inches falling off me. The lipedema is better than its been in 50 years its actually going away.

I started in August 2023. I lost 30lbs by November 2023. My family came to NY for my cousins wedding mid November. That’s when I fell off the wagon! It’s June now and I’ve gained 10lbs. Inflammation is back in a huge way. I literally do not have ankles! It has been very difficult for me to get back on the program. It’s mid June 2024 and I started my carnivore diet again today. I dont know why it was so difficult to begin again. Well, today is day 1 (again) and I have to stick to the diet in order to lose the weight I gained and get rid of inflammation, anxiety and depression! So here we go again! Wish me luck!..

Its ok to fell off the wagon and get on again, one tip to transition more easily is to remove sugars for a couple of weeks while adding meat, eggs, seafood with salt and when you decide to cut the no-carnivore stuff your body already has been detecting what it needs. This can help to start carnivore more easily.

I’ve messed around with adding fruit Vs just meat eggs and cheese and have found my favorite is mostly beef , eggs , raw cheese , half an avocado once a day and a hand full of blueberries is the sweet spot . Gotta just do what works for you to stick to it long term .

Something to remember with fruit. For most of the population, we are genetically adapted to eating only low sugar fruit locally and seasonally, which means a few weeks/months a year to fatten up ready for winter. We are NOT supposed to eat high sugar fruit (today's hybrid fruits are designed to be really sweet) all year around. When I was a kid, apples were small and tart, today's apples are large and sweet. Look at photos of watermelons from 40 years ago and compare to today. Modern fruit is just candy with fibre.

At age 55, after I shed the’ excess weight’ and regained better fitness with carnivore I saw that I was still visibly flabby. I cannot emphasise enough… do not underestimate how muscles shrink if we are not exercising enough. Being 55kg at age 35 isnt the same body as my 55kg at age 55. I wasnt flabby at 35. It was more bone and muscle and a little fat then. But is clear now that if I shed the current flab, I am going to weigh much less unless I work on rebuilding my shrunken muscles. I share this to urge folks to remember that eating well isnt enough. The muscles and bones need our attention… some daily resistance training, even if it’s morning walks, home squats and exercising with water bottles. The movement coupled with eating carnivore is the healthy way. Those morning walks are really invigorating for the mind and body too. I often get lazy and skip, but when I do walk I feel soooo much better after. As soon as the stamina returns, that spring in the step feels so good. Good luck, everybody. Take care of you.

Solid breakdown. I have done ketovore, carnivore, and lion diet. Carnivore seems to be my best balance. Fruits are an absolute no go for me. They just cause me to want sweets. I also lift weights 5 days a week and I find carnivore seems to work best for me with that regimen. I would add almost everybody I know who does some form of carnivore almost NEVER eat enough salt. We are so conditioned that salt is bad that almost everyone skimps on the salt. Don't do it. Salt to me is the super spice that makes carnivore work.

Explanation about salt: When you are eating carbs, your insulin eventually remains elevated all the time. Chronically elevated insulin causes your kidneys to retain sodium all the time. That is why carb consumers end up with high blood pressure. In Carnivore, your insulin is not elevated; your kidneys are not ordered to retain sodium all the time; the normal system for controlling your blood pressure is restored. High blood pressure tells the kidneys to excrete sodium. Low blood pressure tells the kidneys to retain sodium. Salt is excreted or retained as needed to maintain normal blood pressure. On Carnivore, if you do not consume enough salt, you could become low in sodium and your kidneys would go back to retaining sodium. So consume salt. On carnivore too much salt will be excreted with urine.

BUT the reason I'm commenting is because I've seen several folks say that they weren't losing until they eliminated one item.. some say cheese.. some say milk.. some say other things, so I think it's important to test foods, eliminate at times to see the effect.

May 2023 I was ill…I lost 40 pounds in 30 days…I threw up everything I ate. I was in terrible pain… so, June 1, I went to Emerg and in 12 hours I was diagnosed with a torn diaphragm and a hiatus hernia. I was immediately positioned in line for emergency surgery THAT DAY‼
Ah, but my Texas Rescue Chihuahua Service dog, Mariposa, was with me. And I had no one who could care for her whilst I was recovering post op in hospital. SO…
I signed myself out of Emerg and went home…at the protest of the doctors and nurses. BUT SURPRISE… NO ONE told me that I could eliminate the excruciating stomach pain by getting rid of veggies. It was ALL trial and error… one day I would eat a 🍔burger…I was fine…next day, same 🍔burger with a leaf of 🥬lettuce and I thought I would die. The only way I could get rid of the horrible pain was fast, fast 72 to 100 hours. So, I eliminated all vegetables. I was so very hungry…that timidly, I began with a 🍳fried egg. I gobbled it up = no pain. So, I fried another🍳🍳and in about 4 weeks I increased my egg intake to 🍳🍳🍳🍳four a day. Still, very low in calories. My weight dropped very rapidly…total loss in less than six months is 115 pounds. If I eat too much, I hurt…so, I try to eat three times a day. Small meals. Slowly, I added meats with my eggs. 🥩🍳And I feel great. I am trying to eat as much as possible …those last 10 pounds wrinkled my face horribly even at 65…I am trying to slow down my weight loss. I do want to lose 50 pounds more…but ultra slowly. Now, my family MD does want me to undergo surgery…thinking I cannot live on meat alone…but I explained…what am I missing⁉Today’s vegetables are not the nutritious veggies WE ALL grew up with…full of pesticides, GMO and glyphosate…my body does not need that‼I enjoy 🍗🥩🍖🍔meats, 🍳eggs, I can eat 🧀Cheese, 🧈butter, cream🫗, I can eat 🧅🧄🫒🍈onion, garlic, olives, spices 🌶yes, hot jalapeño 🌶pickled peppers even dill pickles🥒…so my diet is full of variety. I enjoy bulletproof coffee☕, Turkish Coffee☕ 🧊homemade 🍋lemon iced tea. I grill beef steaks 🥩on my Weber Q2400 outdoor electric BBQ, I have setup a complete outdoor kitchen on my balcony, all electric, to fry bacon🥓➕🍳eggs everyday without messing the kitchen. Plus I have a Kalorik Pro 1600 degree restaurant quality steak grilling oven…that I moved to the balcony, too. Plus a sun umbrella ⛱Covid did something to me…while under quarantine, I decided to sequester and really lean how to KETO/CARNIVORE cook. I bought practically every kitchen appliance known to man plus three different ice cream makers. And, I have a beautiful marble dining table & a 🪑patio rocking chair‼Yes, I can eat🍨 ice cream which I make from just eggs🥚🥚🥚and 🧈butter ➕ stevia and vanilla. Or 🍧cream cheese ➕🥚🥚➕stevia and vanilla. Delicious‼I have discovered I can bake the occasional cheese cake…sweetened with stevia…and if I want a fruity flavour…I add a tsp of Lor Ann fruit extract…either 🍒cherry or 🍓strawberry or raspberry even blueberry🫐. Then there is 🍋lemon, or 🍎🍏apple flavour, 🍐pear, 🍌banana, 🥭mango. 🍮🍮🍮Flans baked with heavy cream and eggs are delicious‼YES, this modified carnivore is very easy…I KNOW I can eat this way for the remainder of my life and save 💵💵💵💲💲💲Money not 🛒🛒🛒wasting money 💵💵💵on useless veggies. 🥬🥦🥬🫑🥕🌽🍅🥑🍅
And that is my reason for sticking to what I call CARNIVORE PLUS➕‼NO SURGERY NEEDED‼
And May I point out…our healthcare is free here in 🇨🇦Canada…the surgery and after care of a week in hospital would not have cost me a single dime‼‼‼
AND I STILL REFUSE SURGERY. HELLO CARNIVORE‼

The 🧈Butter ☕☕coffee is the ☕☕BULLETPROOF coffee that Dave Asprey perfected…I began very skeptically drinking it and it changed my life. I always prepare a huge 16 ounce mug full. If you cannot find a 16 ounce coffee mug upgrade to a large glass beer 🍺mug it will work splendidly‼Due to the fact I can only eat about 5-6 ounces total per meal…I find some days I climb the walls with real hunger.
It, the hunger, drives me crazy. So, I have realized those are the days my food is lacking in fats…so I have returned to drinking Bulletproof Coffee. Even 🕰mid day!
I French Press brew about 14 ounces coffee…instant is ok, too.
And pour it into my blender.
To the coffee, I add, 1 scoop collagen powder.
I sweeten with NOW BETTER stevia powder to taste. This stevia is my go to for everything and the cheapest stevia in 🇨🇦Canada at 🇨🇦💵$86.00/pound. Use 1/2 tsp = 1/2 cup white sugar in all recipes‼
A couple of hefty shakes of cinnamon.
And 1 tbsp MCT oil …which I truly measure
And I slice off 4 tbsp cold unsalted butter
And add that to the blender…and I blitz.☕
I really whip the ingredients to create a huge foamy cappuccino-like foamy mug of coffee!
      Optional add ons…
      If I make the coffee 50% stronger…
I add 1 tbsp egg yolk powder and it becomes a breakfast on the go‼No you will not taste the egg yolk. Or add one 🥚fresh egg…no it will not cook in the coffee…but become extra extra creamy. You will not taste it‼
      As for the ice cream…🍧🍨🍦🍧🍨🍦
I own the $999.99 🇨🇦Cuisinart ICE-100 built-in freezer ice cream maker…which I bought in 2012. You should have seen the look on the salesman’s face when I explained that I required an 🍧🍨🍦ice cream maker to follow a high fat diet to lose weight‼‼
This is a great ice cream maker for a quick one or two serving recipe. Sure you can churn a quart in an hour…but I discovered…it is faster to prepare ice cream fresh daily in say, 15-17 minutes‼
Then in 2022, everyone online in the keto 🌎sphere was raving about the NINJA CREAMI.
I watched every TH-cam video I could find.
In about ten months…I was absolutely convinced I NEEDED a Ninja Creami. It is a marvel of culinary scientific ice cream prep.
See my bulletproof coffee recipe above…pour it into a Creami jar and freeze it for 24 hours…and then “spin” or “process” it according to Ninja directions…and it whips up into a most creamy, smooth, delicious dessert‼A miracle, an amazing creamy frozen coffee ice cream keto high fat dessert sensation, gee…what other delicious words can I use⁉Get my drift? …even my 🇺🇸Adopted 🇺🇸Texas Rescue chihuahua loves this stuff‼🍨🍧🍨🍧She eats my meat carnivore diet and I add low carb veggies to her plate and stopped shedding her fur completely! I buy veggies only for her!
ICE CREAM BASE RECIPE (s) 🍦🍨🍧
I use (and have tried all brands) of fruit extracts that I import from the 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 To buy them it is very 💲💲💲a $40.00🇺🇸
Order can have a landed 🇨🇦Cost of just over $120.00🇨🇦💵 after shipping ✈and duty!
And now,I have discovered that the 🇨🇦Michaels Craft Store sells LorAnn for $15.00 a four ounce bottle. It is hands down the best brand of flavouring in the marketplace.
In 2014, I ate 🍋sensational 🍋Lemon Ice Cream every day for lunch. And enjoyed every creamy tangy bite‼In my blender…
I cracked 2 very fresh large eggs
The grated rind of about 1/2 a large lemon
The juice of half a lemon
      2-3 tbsp soft butter
And I used stevia powder to sweeten to taste
      Blitz
Poured the foamy rich ice cream base into my Cuisinart ice cream maker and churned it about 15 minutes. Served. TRULY Enjoyed.
I have not figured out the Ninja ratios of this recipe…yet.
      So…keep reading…
      FOR THE NINJA CREAMI…🍨🍧🍦
My inspiration for one of my recipes is from Anita, Ketogenic Woman on TH-cam. She is very strict carnivore these days check her out.
My take on CHEESECAKE ICE CREAM
In a very low powdered 175-200 watt blender…place the following ingredients:
      4 ounces soft cream cheese
4 fresh large or extra large eggs
      2 tbsp MCT oil
      I scoop collagen powder
1 tsp NOW BETTER STEVIA powder
1 tsp vanilla…masks the smell of eggs
((Optional… add 1tsp LorAnn fruit extract your choice of flavour 🍓🍌🍎🍒🍑🫐…yes, vanilla plus fruit extract in the batch.)
Pour into ninja container…if volume does not reach the fill line on the container add water!
      Freeze 24 hours.
The next day, “spin” on the Lite cycle
On the Ninja Creami selection board.
      And then… Re-spin two more times‼
The resulting ice cream will be as smooth and richer with superb mouth feel that beats Haagen -Dazs hands down…sugar free.
Way back in the 1970’s in the Dr. Atkins Day, ice cream recipes never quite succeeded due to the fact that the sweeteners would freeze rock solid hard. The Ninja Creami solves this dilemma…it is an appliance that is genius‼
That is why I can turn the Bulletproof Coffee into dessert, if I want to‼😋😋😋
      I hope this helps.
      I also believe in …
      FRENCH PRESS COLD BREW COFFEE‼
TEAS OF ALL VARIETIES and flavours
      SUN ICED TEA
Owning an ice making machine…for instant ice.
Enjoying a double shot of Turkish coffee
Using True Lemon crystals in iced tea and anywhere I need a hit of lemon flavour…i no longer buy 🍋🍋🍋which are $1.00 ++ ea.
I buy True Lemon in the value 500 count box.
I BELIEVE, that if a new kitchen appliance will assist us with cooking…keto or carnivore…and keep us on tract and not fall off the diet wagon…that saves our lives…those appliances are of greatest importance to us.
BECAUSE I can eat spices…I buy all the unique spice blends that interest me. And some SPICEOLOGY brands sell for over $50.00 a large container here in Canada🇨🇦
I believe that THE KETO AND CARNIVORE 🌎WORLD really needs a comprehensive recipe book of about 750➕➕➕JUST 🥚🥚🥚egg recipes from all over the 🌎world. Using different spices, cooking methods to offer us true variety when we want to save lots of 💵 money quickly in a month… and never ever become bored with eggs. What do you want to save for⁉
But, I admit it… I can eat 🥓and 🍳crispy fried eggs cooked in bacon fat each and every day and never tire of them, NEVER‼
I hope this helps you and everyone who has spent the time to reply to your query.

Lion is a great, easy way to start off. But I'm a firm believer in balanced diet, elimination(problem) foods aside. So eggs, dairy, and fruit/nuts are crucial to get micro nutrients and trace carbs for healthy hormone function. Unless you have some serious disease that prevent you from variety eating, i feel the balanced path is best. Remember, all carbs are not bad, your body is designed for them. The problem is usually over eating them or a rouge protein intolerance (gluten, etc.) That causes problems.

Yeah I'm finding after decades of waaaaay too much sugar, binge drinking alcohol, medications that raise blood sugar, I'm going full keto/ carnivore with an emphasis on ZERO carbs/ sugar... but after my body fully heals/ adapts to burning fat, I do think I'll reintroduce high fat dairy, low carb veggies, and finally organic mixed berries. Currently all my brain fog is gone and I have very high energy so I'll reintroduce the above foods one by one.

Hey just so you know, "beef/salt/water" and "all ruminants/salt/water" are both lion diet. There is no difference between lamb, bison, elk, venison, beef etc. for the purposes of lion diet. Lion diet was designed (and the name coined) by Mikhaila Peterson as a way of defining the least allergenic form of carnivore possible. All red meat falls into the "least allergenic" category due to the fact that ruminant animals have the lowest amount of plant toxin carryover of all animals one might eat. In fact, due to histamine intolerance, Mikhaila herself spent two years eating only lamb because she couldn't find a good source of unaged beef.
Also, technically there is something even stricter, and that's no-salt lion diet. Doesn't work great for athletes but for others it's actually completely fine to forgo salt as long as you have good quality natural water that hasn't had all the electrolytes purified out. Cheers!

I’ve listened to the Peterson’s videos and I believe it was Mrs. Tammy Peterson that ate lamb only because she couldn’t find unaged beef. From what I’ve seen Mikhaila eats beef and salt only, as does her father, Jordan. Anyway, yes, some people have a histamine intolerance and can’t eat aged meat. I have no idea what the symptoms are that would tell you this, do you?

    • @Audifan8595
      @Audifan8595 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

@@suew4609 Sorry, you've got it confused. Tammy does eat lamb, but it was Mikhaila who was eating it in place of beef, until she was able to find an unaged beef source. I've been following Mikhaila for a couple years and that has been consistently part of her story when she tells it, both on her own channel and in interviews with others.
As for how to tell, I think it's probably a little different for everyone. The most common symptoms are getting a runny or congested nose when eating, skin itchiness with or without welts/hives, acne, digestive problems (bloating, diarrhea, gas, nausea), and headaches.

The Lion diet is nothing more than a subset of the carnivore diet. Again, just people making up subjective names to suit themselves. Very much pointless. Before all this non-sense, it was just called Zero-Carb. Makes perfect sence as that it what it actually is.

Jenny, I just watched your interview with Dave M. You mentioned "optimal baseline is higher". I want to share something with you that I wrote. It is long and I don't know if this will work. (I deleted a bunch so this would send.)
This is an attempt to spark an interest into what some know as the Carnivore Diet. This is NOT an attempt to get everyone or anyone to go Carnivore. It is an attempt to spark interest of people, or even one person, to do some research and make an informed choice between Carnivore, something similar to Carnivore, and the Standard American Diet. Much of what I have written is not something I have read or heard, but pieced together by many things I have learned and thought out. This may not all be 100% correct but in my opinion close enough. Take it for what you will.
SOMETHING CHANGED: A hundred years ago, health problems were related to infections and injury. Now, we have diseases for every system of the body. We need medications to make our bodies work right. How did we ever survive hundreds of thousands of years of evolution without our medication? Something changed. Some say it is the switch from eating mostly protein and fat to eating mostly carbohydrates. Others say it is the consumption of seed oils and highly processed food (which contain seed oil). Some say it is both.
BAD GENES: Many people think that the reason they have chronic diseases or conditions is because they were born with a bad set of genes. This is mostly NOT true (my opinion). The human body is wondrous. We are not designed wrong. It is our diet. Gut biome also plays a role and that is based on what we eat and what antibiotics we have been given.
LETS CHANGE THE WAY AMERICA EATS AND FAIL TO MONITOR THE RESULTS: In the military, we practiced Total Quality Management. We may have been doing something a certain way for a long time. If a change is suggested, what is the reason? What is the problem we want to fix? What changes are we going to make to fix the problem? How are we going to measure the results of our solution? The food pyramid was a change. The problem was heart disease. Had they followed up to see if the change produced the desired result, they would have seen that things were worse. What a disaster! Oh, to top it off, the military must follow the dietary guidelines. It is testament to (something), when you make a change, have disastrous results, and do not re-think the situation. Many good men and women, some of whom I served with and ran around the decks of the ship with, trying to help them lose weight, were discharged because they failed to meet the fitness standards no matter how hard they tried. They were not the problem. It was the food. But who would have thought that to lose weight, you had to consume fat?
EVOLUTION I: Does evolution from the past have anything to do with what we should be eating today for optimum health, physical performance, and mental performance. Of course it does! The diet on which and to which a species evolves is that specie’s proper diet forever. We ate meat based, primarily fatty red meat and fish. If we ate plant based, it was because we could not get meat. If we ate plant based, our body knew there was something wrong, we may be facing famine, so our body stored fat. We did not have to think it. Our hormones made the choice for us. In this case, the hormone insulin. When we ate fatty red meat, we did not store fat. We needed to be lean, strong, and mentally keen to hunt animals. It is the same today. When we eat an animal based diet, we do not store fat. When we eat a plant based diet, we store fat. When we ate fatty meat, our body was optimizing our mental, physical, and offspring producing abilities. When we ate carbs, our body shifted from optimizing our mind and body, to optimizing our chance of surviving a famine. In the past, we primarily ate the food that kept us in the optimization mode. Today, we primarily eat the food that places our body in the suboptimal mode, focused on surviving famine. We may no longer need this feature of our evolution but it is still there. When we eat plant based, insulin is elevated. With insulin elevated, we store fat, reduce BMR (to conserve energy); turn off autophagy (now is not the time for repair), and retain sodium (because we don’t get salt from plants). Since many say that Carnivore lifts the fog from the brain, I would have to say that in the suboptimal mode apparently our brain is subdued somewhat to again conserve energy and survive famine.
CHOOSE YOUR FUEL: Since your brain consumes the most energy, your choice of fuel affects the brain the most. Your choices of fuel are limited, glucose or fat. One molecule of glucose equals 32 units of energy (ATP). One molecule of fatty acid equals 122 units of energy (ATP). Glucose is not as stable as fat (saturated fat). Converting glucose to ATP produces ROS and free radicals as a byproducts. ROS (reactive oxygen species) and free radicals damage cells. We age due to the accumulation of this cellular and mitochondrial damage. Saturated fat is very stable. Converting saturated fat to ATP does not produce ROS and free radicals. Unsaturated fats, like vegetable oil and seed oils, are very unstable and should be avoided.

Ghee is ideal to sub for butter because the milk fat which burns is removed, along with lactose. It almost doubles the smoke point and allows cooking on high heat. But I learned years ago a helpful trick: even if you’re not losing weight you are losing inches. Your body is reshaping itself.
Stick to the diet. Measure yourself. You’ll be surprised.

Due to what I've read about the Randle Cycle and glycation I must dissuade everyone from carnivore and fruit diet. Glycation is the misshaping of proteins due to sugars such that they do not function properly. Collagen misshaping is especially noticeable with skin wrinkles. Fructose is a worse culprit than glucose. Avoid ALL types of sugars and carbs for best health. There are no essential carbs in the human diet.

Thanks for this. As someone who is dairy intolerant though I can tell you lactose mostly isn't the issue, it's the casein (milk protein) which triggers inflammation and more specifically casein A1 which is a mutated version of the casein that was traditionally found in cow dairy (casein A2). Casein A2 is what's found in goat and sheep's cheese and some older more traditional cow races, but most of the milk and cheese we get in the west is A1 and much more inflammatory.
The reason why butter works even for people like me who don't tolerate casein A1 well is not that the lactose has been removed but that there is barely any protein either. It's important to mention that because some might think they'll do fine with lactose free cow cheeses, but since those have a high amount of A1 casein they will still cause most people the same symptoms. If you have such symptoms and want to have dairy you probably wanna limit it to butter and goat and sheep's cheeses.

The issue with commercial eggs is not that they spray them with preservatives, but that they wash them in a bleach and other chemical solution that penetrates the pours of the egg shells. You don't have this with farm fresh eggs. Also, people who are sensitive to chicken eggs usually can eat duck eggs as the protien in duck eggs is different than in chicken eggs.

We had a wait of several months before the ducks started laying, and my daughter -- who is autistic and has lupus -- was doing MUCH better without any eggs in her diet. About 8 lbs of the chuck and 4 lbs of the pork my wife will use for whatever she chooses. Hi Jenny,
I just found your channel a couple days ago, and I've been enjoying watching your videos and learning more about carnivore.
I was a long time vegan (over 20 years), and vegetarian (10 years) before that. I got so wrapped up in my ethical reasons for my diet, that I ignored the horrible effects it was having on my health for decades. I convinced myself my diet was perfect, and there was no way my health was suffering because of it. I was wrong!
Here I am now at age 60 and in menopause (which in itself brings many health consequences). 3 years ago I finally was honest with myself, and realized that I was holding on to a way of eating that was hurting me, and something needed to change. After months of deliberation and soul-searching, I decided to re-introduce animal products back into my diet. I started out very slowly with just some yogurt, eggs, and fish. I gradually added in beef, lamb, and bison. I don't really like chicken that much, but I do like turkey, so I also eat that now.
I've been on quite a journey with my diet these last few years, and lately I have been experimenting with going higher protein, and less carbs. It's been hard getting used to it, but I'm getting there. I am having less digestive issues (bloating, gas, abdominal pain) than I used to, which has been such a relief! Unfortunately, digestive issues aren't my only problem. I also have chronic muscle and joint pain, falling/thinning hair, painful neuropathy in feet and legs, fatigue, dizziness, and brain fog/memory problems.
I am seriously considering trying the carnivore diet to see if I can get my health back. I am not overweight, and I don't have diabetes or any other metabolic disease. I am actually at the low end of BMI, at 5'9 and 124 lbs, so I wouldn't be doing carnivore to lose weight. I just want to feel better, that is my only goal!
I have been through the wringer with doctors and other health practitioners over the last 4 years. I've had all the tests and lab work. No one can find a cause for my symptoms! I'm at the end of my rope, and willing to try anything to feel better!
Thank you for all of your information. I'm going to keep researching and learning. I'm getting close to trying carnivore. I'm desperate to feel better!

Just subbed!! You had me at trying to lose weight to have a baby, i'm 38 and in the same situation. I've always been on the verge of pre-diabetes and type 2 is HIGHLY prevalent in my family. All four of my pregnancies have been strictly monitored on my blood sugar levels. With my midwife and last pregnancy she said she didn't like my blood work results, so i switched to low carb high protein and had to do another blood work test, this time she said my levels were MUCH better! My little one is now 18 months old and I'm still trying to lose the extra weight. I go carnivore for a time and then fall off. I think if I just watch Carnivore videos once every morning to get my focus on, remember why I'm doing this and see other people's results it can keep me on track! A question I have not seen addressed and I'd like your opinion on is centered around supplements separated into (1) DAILY and then into (2) DURING ILLNESS and (3) FOR PREVENTION [like during COVID, Flu, and cold outbreaks]
I like to take Vitamin C and D3+K2+Zinc supplements I get from other TH-camr's online stores. What are your thoughts as far as taking these (1) DAILY, (2) DURING ILLNESS, (3) FOR PREVENTION?
I'm also looking to add daily Vitamin A, [SPECIFICALLY Lugol's Solution] Iodine, and powdered Collagen[From 100% Grassfed Beef Bones]. What are your thoughts here?
There are some supplements I wanted to take for general health benefits, Apple Cider Vinegar, Cod Liver Oil or Cod Roe, Beef Organ supplement.
Last weird question is around coffee, and then also on the new mushroom coffees that have been going around social media. Is it necessary to cut out traditional coffee, instant, K-Cups? Should I be wary of mushroom coffee?[I use it as an alternative, not an additive. I also put 1-2Tb of A2 Kirkland Costco milk in sometimes]
I eat virtually no seafood, and before coming off the SAD diet my version consisted of meat, starch, chips, chocolate, and ice cream. I'm looking to lose weight, increase energy, and improve metabolic health.

For me, I only take what I can't get in my food or not enough of. For example, I take lugals and a b2 and b3 complex for my thyroid health. I also take magnesium and potassium for my electrolyte health, I tend to be low magnesium for some reason. And lastly I take DHA because I don't eat a lot of seafood.

    • @JennyMitich

I think supplements are fine, as long as they are high quality. I also think its important to take some supplements in conjunction with others, like D3 with K2 and if doing high levels of D3 supplementation making sure to include magnesium as well. I try to get most of my nutrients from my food and the sun (in the case of D). I've been experimenting with an organ supplement because I hate the taste of liver, and I take magnesium every night before bed.
As far as coffee, I think its fine. You can try eliminating it for a few weeks to see if it makes a difference. I recently switched over to Nespresso, they use aluminum pods instead of plastic. As far as mushroom coffee, just read the ingredients label and make sure its free of junk.

One thing I’ve noticed is how much higher salt intake is for carnivores as well as processed meat. Ok... some thoughts: to me, the carnivore diet, strictly, is a limited version of the so-called Keto diet and, what is quite often not mentioned, is that it is somewhat tricky to adapt to ketosis-- and, especially in the beginning, (it) may cause flu like symptoms and lack of energy...(and most carnivores do not mention that this diet will usually change the body's energy systems away from carb-based, that is a fermentation energy (using sugars and carbs break-down processes), and the body switching over to a ketonic energy basis, where the end product is ketones..) *and ketosis, naturally occurs when one cannot find and eat much of anything, as in starving* (so I suggest that if one is smart, they will try to get a basic understanding of what keto is and its good and bad points....)
Now, having said that, I personally, and I am NOT an EXPERT or Doctor, but, as clearly mentioned in this video, I would caution first, the use of dairy... and second, the use of eggs... and I say this because personally, I am allergic to dairy, almost all dairy, even cheese... and second, I basically do not like eggs at all, in any form... (just me, I guess... )
Admission, a few years ago, I did keto for almost two years, got my weight down about 50 pounds to my high school size body, BUT, then, issues crept in, and I gave it up... (I was 70 years old at that time and in really good shape, working out, kayaking, etc. all while on keto... ) but then I began to get first, kidney stones, very painful... and this may have been caused by my use of supplements like zinc, magnesium, etc. ... but next came a bout with Shingles, which was so painful, I checked into emergency-- the hospital-- where they lanced two large boils on my back under my shoulder blade, and they kept me overnight... (I had NEVER been in the hospital... never taken much medicine for anything.. never liked alcohol or used drugs...) Well, the next day I was informed that I now had MRSA infection, many of my vital organs were shutting down-- and that I should maybe call my next of kin... (and this place had no real idea of what a keto diet was at that time, had nothing I could safely eat... and they kept the room so cold I was freezing to death...) So, the next day, after having the machines going off all night every 15 minutes, I demanded to be released, and boy what a fight I had with the staff over that... ( I was told that I would surely die, still had to fight the Doctor to get him to let me go... telling him that if he wanted to say good bye, that I would likely be back in the morgue in a day or two... thank-you... that if I was going to die, I wanted to do that at home... etc.)
Well, that was SEVEN years ago, and I nursed myself back to good health, but there were many times I told HIM that if he wanted me to go... it was ok, I was ready... NOW,
I am going to try this carnivore thing... but I am going to do it the Frank Sinatra way, which is my way... and I may be wrong in all this... but...part of this was all about finding the perfect burger to eat... (without the fries and bun, of course...) But for me, I just want to lose about 30 pounds or so and give my old/young body a boost... and I want to kayak five miles or so without much effort and of course, go dancing every once in a while... But, here is my sin...
I will NOT totally go without some sugar... *at age 77* but this is because I am NOT diabetic at all.... and I am talking very, very little,(sugar) and it may keep me out of ketosis... but, so what .? AND, I am fine with that... I feel, for me, that a teaspoon or so of cake frosting is how I am going to cheat on this thing... (because life is no fun unless you cheat on a few minor things... just don't tell lies and cause pain to others)
So lets see how this goes.... and I wish you all the best of all... I think I got a few more good years left... with or without sugar and you..... thanks.... rp (just be mentally tough, resilient, and do it your way.... because there really is NO true right way)

I would not do an animal-based diet with fatty meat/high fat dairy. It's important not to have one's Randle-cycle be up-regulated all the time, so that would have to be a very low-fat diet with the energy coming from carbs, and the protein coming from high quality animal protein - but then again this diet is only for metabolically healthy individuals.

I tried to stay on that lifestyle but stressed about our world change in 2020, plus my family was not all on board and we just went back to eating everything. I have been doing a lot of research the last 2 months abouts the Carnivore diet. The last 9 months I have gotten away from all the bioenginered foods and toxic crap. We as a family are starting keto again, but now I really want to go all carnivore to see if it will fix the Graves. I feel I could still do that even if my family stays on keto.
