Dear friend, God Almighty made a testament/will in the OT with us that we should inherit His kingdom. So for this testament/will to be activated the testator has to die. For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. Hebrews 9.16. That is why God Almighty had to die on the cross (He didn't cease to exist just like we do not cease to exist when we die) but He died in the flesh so that He could spill HIS holy blood Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. Acts 20.28 so that whoever believes in this gift of LOVE (self sacrifice John 15.13, Romans 5.8) should receive His Holy Spirit and be sealed for the kingdom (receive the inheritance) You must believe in the Christ, the LOVE (self sacrifice/death) of God manifested in the flesh because it was the love of God that fulfilled the law that brings death. Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. 9 For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbour as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbour; therefore love is the fulfilment of the law. Romans 13 So if you believe in the love (self sacrifice/death) of God in the flesh, the death of the testator, you will be born again and receive His inheritance, His Holy Spirit and will no longer be under the law. Trinity and unitarianism (and all other religions) will lead you therefore to hell because both doctrines demand a faith, in which a separate father sends his separate son to the cross. Whoever believes in this, whoever puts their faith in this sacrifice of an other, does not believe in the selfless self sacrificing Love of God, and will therefore not receive the Spirit of God but the spirit of the selfish (satanic) anti (in stead of) Christ. God is SPIRIT and when He came to earth, He was still in heaven at the same time No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. John 3.13 That is how God Most High Himself was able to go to the cross and spill His holy blood and therefore activate the testament/will. This is the gospel of peace which is based on the love of God.
Very timely, as always! I have been thinking of that topic a lot. I personally love to make other people laugh and I love to laugh myself, but I have also felt the conviction of Proverbs 10:19 when I have been joking too much: "When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent." May the Lord help us find a biblical balance, because I too believe that joyful and heartfelt laughter is good medicine to the soul. Thank you, I'll Be Honest team!
Amen. When a person goes through so many rough, hard, difficult and tragic things in many seasons of his/her life, that person needs a good laughter at times to keep standing in faith. I know I wouldn’t be standing still if I hadn’t learned how to find ridiculous parts of rough / hard / difficult / tragic things / problems / situations / seasons in life and wasn’t able to laugh at those ridiculous parts. All glory to God for teaching me this thing too. 🙏🏻 Laughter uplifts soul and spirit. There is godly, healthy laughter (God created us with the ability to laugh, even small babies can laugh spontaneously without someone trying to make them laugh), and then there is ungodly, unhealthy, worldly laughter. It depends on what you are laughing at (a thing / a person, positively / negatively), why you are laughing at that thing (motive) and when and where you are laughing at that thing (there are times and places where laughter really is not fitting).
As a sinner, and an imperfect man, (I believe) it is perfectly logical to question if, and to what extent, modern humor is wordly and ungodly. In general, i believe we tolerate and excuse far too many "jokes" and too much comedy as acceptible, when they lead people further away from truth and love, and make light of sin for the sake of a laugh.
My husband's grandparents where the first couple that where so genuine when they joked❤️ no hurtful comments or jokes to drag someone down. It was refreshing. I had always been around jabs, poking at people, and sexual jokes. I didn't know a difference. Honest humor is out there! Just people that are filled with the Holy Spirit can joke in a kind, joyful, happy way❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏 now with that being said I grew up in a home where everyone was constantly on defense, I have learned through God's word and my husband's lead to let go of that🙏❤️ good reminder today to talk with my daughters about this, thank you!
This is where I wanna be all the days of my life. One day I hope to be in this living room and my heart of stone broken down and receive grace to allow Christ to lead me fully.
It is a proven fact that joking and humor, when done correctly, can break tension in the atmosphere. And it serves as an excellent coping mechanism in stressful situations. Soldiers, police, emt’s, doctors, anyone who’s line of work has them deal with human beings at their worst moments use humor to cope with the stresses and horrors that they must deal with day in and day out. Because if they are not allowed a brief moment of levity, then morale will sink like a rock, and their effectiveness suffers.
I agree 100% with what you said. I wrote this under another comment here but it fits here so well too so I copypasted it: Amen. Thanks for the video. This got me thinking. Now that I realize, most of anything I laugh at is from someone else making fun of someone else. And every once in a while a crude joke, usually of which I don't care for hearing but just laugh along to get along. Then I think about what we laugh at at church and it's completely different. Laughing about weird circumstances we got in. Mistakes, coincidences, simple things that's a quick chuckle.
This is definitely a good conversation to have. I know i personally joke around ALOT especially at work , but I've been wondering lately if it's beneficial at all , am I crossing a line in how I should be coming off as a believer 🤔 just thoughts like that. I always appreciate these QandAs from Tim Conway. So practical and helpful . 🙏
Read The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. It's written from the viewpoint of a senior demon training a young trainee, his nephew, about drawing people towards hell. He covers this a lot, and talks about the difference between joyful laughter and flippancy and sarcasm which have no God in them. Itsa classic
@@wisdomoftheearlychristians2037 I listened to the audio book a while back . I may revisit it again. Been listening to some chapters of mere Christianity. Cs Lewis was a brilliant writer and theologian
@@ondreatorrence4322 Yes, he was. I only pointed out the Screwtape Letters, because rereading them again, now that I'm 20 years older, and the world has changed so much, it is even more appropriate, and the agenda really stands out. The part on sarcasm, flippancy vs genuine laughter and joy really struck me; as well as the demons not wanting you to have any moments of real joy, eg. a walk through a beautiful area of nature, or reading a really good book, spending quality time talking to a true friend. He says, if we are allowed those, then it will be easy for us to see that what the devil puts forth as joy is h just the merest imitation, which is why we always feel worse when it ends, and need more of it. just a thought.
I believe that in line with Ephesians 5:4 that joking per say is not wrong but depends on the motive behind it, if I'm telling a joke because I'm trying to make someone look bad because I don't like the person or something of the sort, that would definitely be sinful, but if it's something that's purely out of a light moment with friends it wouldn't bother me much. I am open to any correction. Thank you.

The eye is the lamp of the body, set your treasures in heaven. I Struggle with this myself. I watch a lot of sermons by you and brother washer but it comes with a danger to scroll and before you know it you’ve watched a jet li fight, 2 cat videos and scrolled past tons of smut you don’t even want to have in front of yours eyes becsuse why do I even want to put the possibility for temptation before me. So I’d say laughter is good, telling a joke that is made to make someone laugh without sinning against anyone is good. I wouldn’t say it’s a sin to watch mr bean but are they taking time to study Gods word together with the same commitment? Especially if they have kids. I feel too much entertainment is a sign of immaturity and like I said, this is something I struggle with. In this age it can really suck you in. Makes Gods word even more life or death.
I believe laughter is where the subtlest lies can sneak through. Laughter is about experiencing a truth that is unexpected and deeper than you expected. Laughter also is mostly associated with a good thing. But sometimes a truth is not good but is experienced and said in a way that triggers laughter. You can sneak past some very keen minds with laughter. Sort of a personal take but I believe the spirit of the antichrist is extremely funny and charismatic. Look at someone like Jordan Peterson, he's hilarious! It's so easy to love following his narratives because of the way that 'honest' sense of humour drags you in.
We Christians need more laughter in our family life as "laughter is good medicine for the sou!" A STORY ABOUT A HYENA, A LION AND A CHIMPANZEE One day a hyena had found a short cut from the normal long journey of 5 kilometres to his family home with his fellow hyenas' that saved a lot of time. But during this short journey the hyena met a strong powerful lion that ambushed him, and grabbed his tail and started throwing the hynena to the left and to the right for a few minutes before the hynena broke free and escaped. However, the hyena was left a bit battered and bruised. Continuing on his journey the hynena came across a large muscular chimpanzee swinging above his head in a tree, so the chimpanzee noticed the hynena's body was a bit battered and bruised, and asked why? "O a great big lion ambushed me tonight on my way home from finding a short cut, and threw me all over the place, to the right and to the left several times!" "Don't worry I will help you if the lion tries to hurt you again!" So the hynena and the chimpanzee became friends..... The very next day both the hynena and chimpanzee walked along the same short cut pathway when suddenly the same lion ambushed and attacked the hyena again, and grabbed his tail and started throwing the hynena all over the place, to the right and to the left again. In the meantime the chimpanzee ran as fast as he could and escaped up a large tree. The hynena was now flat on his back battered and bruised looking up at the chimpanzee in the tree, and asked, "why didn't you help me as you promised?" Looking down at the hyena who was now flat on his back with all four of his legs up in the air, replied, "You were laughing hysterically, and crying out loud, and I thought you were enjoying yourself so much that I didn't think you wanted my help!!!" Lol 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂!!!!
I believe that heavy comedy with dark humor is evil.. perverted comedy, perverted quotes that leaves last impressions, dirty words, can really scar a person.. people that try to act funny all the time, on purpose can be a ill cursing..I think its a evil spirit of laughter or evil spirit of pranks .idk ..it's true about the Bible, theres a time to laugh, cry, feel, understand,.. but laughter and pranks, or mockery daily,..there's something wrong there..it also reminds me about understanding testing the spirit, like understanding the nature of others to either take heed, or be a friend..
If you are in a concentration camp or under the axe or in the hands of terrorists, would you dare to laugh ? God knew very well that any movement we leave this Earth, we by default land in Hell of Fire 🔥, if we had failed to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and savior, which is far far worse than as described above, by it being for eternity, then naturally, there is No scope for laughter or jocking. Moreover, we are answerable, for every word we utter. However, as pastor rightly concluded, whatever we does, should be for the glory of God Almighty ✝️
LAUGHTER ?? Ecclesiastes 2:2 KJV: I said of laughter, It is mad: and of mirth, What doeth it? Ephesians 5:4-6 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Hi @I'llbehonest. I would like advice on something please. So I told God that I would do something, you could say I made a promise, but I haven't done it. However I didn't truly realise the seriousness of promising before God until I came across Japheth's story as well as Ecclesiastes 5, however I also came across Matthew 5 v33-37 & James 5:12 so at this moment I am not sure what the next step to take is. Will God release me of my promise if I ask Him to forgive me or am I still compelled to keep it. I am confused also because Ecclesiastes 5 says one thing well, but when I look at Matthew 5 Jesus here says let your yes be yes and your no be no. So as you can see I'm quite confused and not 100% sure what the next step to take is. Would gladly appreciate your help/advice.
Hello, Skyla! I know that I'm not I'll Be Honest, but I saw your comment and would like to help if I can. I would suggest that you keep your vow. Ecclesiastes 5:4 (KJV) says "When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for [he hath] no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed." Essentially, do what you tell God that you'll do; don't wait! I have made vows to God that I have regretted making, but I kept them because I know that it was the right thing to do. I have also done the opposite: I have made vows that I did not keep because of my own sinfulness. I would rather be faithful to my word than to not do what I say. When talking about what kind of man will abide in God's tabernacle, David writes that one of the characteristics is "He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not." (Psalm 15:4 c.) Essentially, it is good to be willing to do what you say that you will do, even if it will cost you. I think that the verses in Matthew and James show that swearing isn't often a wise choice, but it doesn't mean that you shouldn't fulfill those that you do make. I'll be praying for you, and I hope that you do your best to God's glory. Thank you for the courage and the willingness to ask this question, and I hope that I was able to help.
Scriptures warn about “ joking which is not convenient “. What we joke and laugh about we do not take seriously. When people make jokes about behaviors which are not pleasing to God and are disobedient to scripturally commanded Christian character. it means we have not taken those scriptures seriously. I find jokes about these to be grievous: divorce, gender, anger, sex, bad language, attitudes, selfishness, arrogance , foolish talk etc. All behaviors we laugh about we are never going to take seriously. Jesus did not joke. He took every word of His Father’s seriously ,and rebuked everyone for their disobedience to them. That is why the most “ religious” hypocrites were condemned when they spoke God’s Word but did not obey God’s Word.
Jesus seemed to make a bit of a joke when he asked Peter if he had to explain how pooping works And that is certainly not obscene because even God himself said he would rub dung in their faces. Another time He talks about the foreign nations with large genitals And finally “There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.” Ezekiel 23:20 NIV That last one could make you spit out your coffee in shock. If I were Ezekiel I would probably wonder if I misheard Him on that one. Like, you want me to say what? I can’t imagine they are going to take that one well Lord.
I know this jesus had a way of speaking to those who were spiritually broken in a way that does not make them feel put down and unwelcomed. In my opinion i think its ok to joke about a sin because you realize that your not perfect like jesus was and if you dont makeva joke on it and repent to jesus of the guilt you have then your going to slowly go down this well of depression and guilt and i dont think god wants you to stand still on past mistakes like that
I'm surprised you didn't bring up Jesus saying people will be judged on every idle word they speak. Also...general challenge for anyone: come up with a joke that glorifies God. If you can't do it...

"O a great big lion ambushed me tonight on my way home from finding a short cut, and threw me all over the place, to the right and to the left several times!"
"Don't worry I will help you if the lion tries to hurt you again!"
So the hynena and the chimpanzee became friends.....
The hynena was now flat on his back battered and bruised looking up at the chimpanzee in the tree, and asked, "why didn't you help me as you promised?"
Looking down at the hyena who was now flat on his back with all four of his legs up in the air, replied, "You were laughing hysterically, and crying out loud, and I thought you were enjoying yourself so much that I didn't think you wanted my help!!!"

God mocks mockers proverbs 3:34
If you are in a concentration camp or under the axe or in the hands of terrorists, would you dare to laugh ?
God knew very well that any movement we leave this Earth, we by default land in Hell of Fire 🔥, if we had failed to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and savior, which is far far worse than as described above, by it being for eternity, then naturally, there is No scope for laughter or jocking.
Moreover, we are answerable, for every word we utter.
However, as pastor rightly concluded, whatever we does, should be for the glory of God Almighty ✝️

Avoid bad jokes
Ephesians 5:4, proverbs 24:9
I may disagree on some points but I’ve never really found “potty humor” funny.
There's no scriptural example of Jesus Christ nor the Apostles found in coarse joking and that's why the scripture condemned it.
Jesus seemed to make a bit of a joke when he asked Peter if he had to explain how pooping works
And that is certainly not obscene because even God himself said he would rub dung in their faces. Another time He talks about the foreign nations with large genitals
And finally
“There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.”
Ezekiel 23:20 NIV
That last one could make you spit out your coffee in shock. If I were Ezekiel I would probably wonder if I misheard Him on that one. Like, you want me to say what? I can’t imagine they are going to take that one well Lord.
Where does Jesus ask Peter abouut that ?
@@yungspaghetti1685earch bro the gospels ain’t long 😁
I know this jesus had a way of speaking to those who were spiritually broken in a way that does not make them feel put down and unwelcomed. In my opinion i think its ok to joke about a sin because you realize that your not perfect like jesus was and if you dont makeva joke on it and repent to jesus of the guilt you have then your going to slowly go down this well of depression and guilt and i dont think god wants you to stand still on past mistakes like that
Laughing at someones expence costs the person the jokes on
One time God told me “Every Good and perfect joke comes from God” -James 1:17 (Acts 17:25, Phil 1:29)
I assume dad jokes are fine lol
I'm surprised you didn't bring up Jesus saying people will be judged on every idle word they speak. Also...general challenge for anyone: come up with a joke that glorifies God. If you can't do it...
*The Devil actually makes no sense*
I think its ok to watch good comedy. But everything now is all sexualized, has gay lesbian jokes has dirty jokes we can't watch anything on TV.
My joking is non-hurtful or embarrassing wordplay
