Every time I cook this soup my husband says this house smells like home!!! Thank you for teaching this American wife how to cook for her Nigerian husband yummy ❤
Sisi Yemmie, one year later, I decided to try your efo riro recipe, I wanted something different. You said my neighbors will be smelling it while I’m cooking but I was not smelling anything. I was like, let me just pretend my neighbors are smelling it and continue (it’s a duplex). To my surprise, yesterday, my neighbor confessed that they kept smelling the delicacy. I said let me share the testimony with sisi Yemisi oh. I tell my friends and family all the time that your recipes are fail-proof.
The story you said at the end reminds me of my choosy brother's response to efo riro. My mom is an Igbo woman but we were leaving in Lagos so she learnt to cook certain soups like this particular one. My brother complained about how he couldn't eat it. Then we begged him until he tasted it. By the time it was morning, we saw hidden plates under his bed. Lo and Behold, he had stolen the soup and eaten eba with it.
Hi ... I’m in NYC.. and your video brighten my day sooo much.... if only you knew ....thanks ... prayers go out to our Nigerian brothers and sisters and their families in China who are being made homeless by the current pandemic
I love hearing your comments as you're cooking sisi. That's one of the things (apart from being very relatable) that keeps me coming back to your channel. Weldone Sisi
The eru is not smelling badly because it is not well fermented. The smelling ones are well fermented and are the best. Healthy too for your intestines.
Thank You Mama, I was telling A Loved One Yesterday that SisiYemmie has Really Helped Me oo, I Tried this Recipe Yesterday and It Came Out Very Well, I Made it for Someone too and He Enjoyed It so well, though I added tomato, should I emit that next time, Thank You Mama for Everything, You Are really Doing Great Things and Helping Homes oooo, God Bless You
I tried this recipe today and my soup came out very delicious. As a first timer, my yourba friends really complimented the soup😊😊. Thank you Sisi yemmie
👏👏👏👏Thumbs up for sisi yemmie this efo is the best it every qualified efo riro ingredient, I love it, nobody will see this efo and not decide to have a plate, especially men in general that likes food. Thank u ma'am GOD bless you more, more wisdom and grace.
I love you Sisi Yemmie, your recipes have never failed me. Anytime I want to make something, even if I've made it before I always come to re-watch so I'll be sure I don't miss any step. PS: I just got your cook book and meal planner and the fact that I don't think too much again about food is a blessing. Thank you so much Ma😊❤️
Hello Yemi. At the preparation of the eforiro what you showed us the viewers that you blended was different types of pepper and onion. When it was time to start mixing ingredients into your cooking pot, you mentioned tomatoes twice as supposed to pepper. My query is this, was tomatoes ever used for the cooking or was it a slip of tongue you mentioning tomato?
This is my process in cooking efo riro, but my vegetables is chopped into like 4, my late grandma will just use her hand to divide the efo into 2 and cook it. You are a genius sisi Yemi, maybe Maggi cubes will give you contract one day.
If u have microwave, u can just wash ur êfò and put it in d microwave, it will come out as steamed veg, and it's good because u don't have residual water to deal with.
Thanks Sisi Yemmie for introducing me to Cameroon Pepper. You are always going on about it in all your cooking so, the last time I went to Nigeria I bought a lot and yes it is amazing. It has a distinct smell and flavour, takes anything you are cooking to a different level👌
I followed your recipe. Mine turned out great. I used mustard greens AND spinach. LESSON: next time I'll pre-cook my greens they'll be more tender when adding to pot. Nevertheless, it's still good. Thank You for this recipe.
Chaiiii. Sisi yemmie this ero riro will be so nice with amala ehnnnnn. Thanks sis for all you do. My go to easy method and detailed recipe guide... Especially for first trials and I always do so well. I appreciate you sis
Chai. I miss Iru. The last time my friend went to Nigeria, she brought an Eva bottle of dried Iru and I managed it for almost a year 😂. I only had to soak it each time I needed it.
I made this I usually always make it but this time I noticed that I also make it just like you but only I add a few other things to mine like to give it a little more color to give it a little better taste but nevertheless this is something anyone should try because it really pacifies the soul and I just love it so much and I think it is the perfect thing to eat on a Friday when you are like you know I am Catholic and so it is the perfect fish for me so I say to those who are Catholic try this you will say to me oh yes she did it right!!
Thanks sis. I will definitely try this. Can you pls do a video on how to cook ofada rice. The last time I did this was during Shagari time in nja and then we have to pick out the stones. Now I have the pre-packed one and no cooking instructions on the pack
No tomatoes was used in this recipe. Just Tatashe (Bell Pepper), Onion, Scotch bonnet for the sauce. 🔥🌶
But can tomatoes be added?
Yes I can't cook this kind of soup without tomatoes, but it's her choice though.
Just made this soup for my boyfriend and he LOVED it!!! Thank you Yemmie for helping us non-Nigerian women please our Naija men Ooo 🥰🙌🏾🇳🇬

This is the exact way I prepare my eforiro. Only difference is you added your panla to the oil before the main pepper.. Always a delight.
This shoko (not sure of the spelling) looks like what we call calalloo in Jamaica
