I have learned something great from your video. Thanks a lot for stating the importance of blanching the vegetable. I do it without knowing the reason for it. Kudos!
All imp nutrients are lost with this method, don't cut your green vegetables for blanching keep them whole, always better just steam cook them or even stir fry it . 🤔
It's lovely. I do exactly this for blanched veggie sides for white rice and stew. But I wash it thoroughly because of sand before adding the hot water for blanching. Thanks for your usual educative cooking videos.
At the 3.49 mark, while putting the vegetables in the pot, she said "..before chopping the vegatbles, make sure you wash the leaf propertly". Some people wash their vegetables before cutting, because washing after cutting them, the vegetables lose some vitamins, reason the water turns green, that's some of the nutrients being lost!
Steamed vegetables. I am so surprised about the result. Beautiful. I think the process of pouring in hot water is what actually makes it turn black. Am I right?
Love this vegetable. I do this but didn’t know why thought I was just cleaning it before storing it now I know the reason for blanching. I used to see people do this in the past and I took it onboard too. Now that I know the effect I will continue to blanch my vegetable Steamed vegetables
Steamed vegetables. Thank you for showing this i have always thought am bleaching my vegetables for a long time now but don't come out green now i know where am getting it wrong i don't use cold water,, once again thank you
Have just learnt what have been an issues to me in making my vegetables green while and after cooking, which is adding the vegetables in cold water immediately from our of fire
Add baking soda to the water and cut AFTER blanching to preserve nutrients. Cook for only 3mins in the prepped sauce & remove cuz it will continue to cook from steam in the pot.
In cooking vegetables preservation of nutrients is very important. Don't cut vegetables before blanching and remove from heat while you blanch , you can even pour hot water over the vegetables in a plastic bowl adding salt
You can also blanch without adding water. Just add your vege in the pot with some salt, leave it for 2 mins, then proceed to rinse with normal to cold water.
The system of cooking is nice, I love it, I am watching from Agbor in Delta state
