iRacing's Road America 500 - '85 Nissan GTP Live

- Taking to the Nissan GTP for my first iRacing 'Special Event' in years, the Road America 500!
This throwback race to the glory days of 80s turbo IMSA will be a frantic 3+ hour scramble. Split across two classes, these cars are TOUGH to drive, and driving them for a full 500 mile around Road America will be quite the test. With closing speeds across classes happening in the blink of an eye, and a turbo spool which can catch even the best out, patience, tactics, and bit of luck will be needed to survive.
With over 1,000 drivers expected to take part, how will I fare in iRacing's defacto "Retro Event"?

Good job Jake. I'm not sure what the replay on your incident with that blue car will tell you, but I think you did all you could do. The fact that car was involved in multiple incidents during the race, and with both their drivers, tells the story.
Can I just say, your standard of driving is unbelievably good. You drove 500 difficult miles, barely putting a wheel wrong, and genuinely made it look effortless. You got chops bro
Im impressed with how calm you were when you got blasted off the track. That was seriously uncool. Im guessing iracing has safety rating scores like Assetto? its hard to imagine that was accidental!
Never attribute to malice what can be attributed to incompetence
Congratulations on 10th place Mr. Jake! Amazing driving.
Just caught this, super entertaining to watch! Great race engineer too, very cool chemistry and vibe 🤙
Awesome race! congrats on well deserved top 10! and your best lap on Lap 123 who said tired? Jake Captain America 💪 I want those protein bars haha Cheers
MAN this car sounds FANTASTIC!!
Awesome race! I enjoyed racing with y'all!
Epic. I watched it in installments. One stint per episode. Great finish!
The clutch on upshifts a new one for me but its been years since i was in one of these haha. Really glad you streamed this thank you
You can run the auto blip or auto clutch which is arcade imo. The official races I was going to do in the car but they all use the aids 😑
@@RacingWithChuck27we don’t all use aids 😉 I drive the car all the time without them
@@RacingWithChuck27 I've won races in iRacing using heel-toe downshifts and an H-pattern when the standard was using paddle shifting or G29s and formula rims. Sometimes it's better to have the manual control, and it's certainly more fun!
Great job, Jake. It took all week to watch it all in stints between working, i must of been the last one logged into the live stream :) (Bathurst Australia)
Great job Jake.
While watching this live, I had an funny idea : each driver should have a crew chief/spotter but the driver drives without any UI info. No laptimes, no gaps, no car status and all info must be given by the chief. Is there a online racing league that does this already ?
Good job @"crew chief" ... !!!
I like the sound of the car a lot.
Very fun car even if not über realistic, but Kamel GT is let down by remorseless wrecking crews in both classes. You're never safe, be it lap 1 or the final lap.
I used to protest a lot, but now I hardly ever do. Partly, I think I was too attached to the results of a video game. But also, crashing due to lack of talent doesn't violate the rules. It's only if it's obviously intentional. If someone turned around and aimed for me, then I probably would protest it. But as far as I know it only ever leads to a warning anyways.
Hayull yeah babby neesawn
well... Exists a reason why the guy who crashed you out is a B license driver nearly falling back to C....
which is why these special events and endurance races really should split by license instead of just iRating tbh
not that I think iRacing are ever going to change their matchmaking :(
