    Wouldn't it be better to ream the bronze bushing without the needle bearing in place, so no cuttings get inside it?

    • @MadeInGreatBritain
      @MadeInGreatBritain หลายเดือนก่อน

      It would, but the roller bearing is the perfect support and it’s in its final place. I do it up the other way instead so gravity sorts the issue

  • @tobyhartley2829

    Nicely done! I used a puller kit from eBay for the needle bearing and the drift with the reaming kit made short work of the bush. Insertion of the new parts was done with a 10mm threaded rod and the nice thick washers from the tired old parts.

  • @classicminiworkshop
    @classicminiworkshop 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thanks for the shout out. The drift you have should remove both the old bush and needle roller bearing without the need for a puller. Love the finish on the arms

      I couldn't quite figure out punching them both out. Do you punch one into the radius arm first and then dig it out?

    • @eduardodedios8213
      @eduardodedios8213 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@classicminidiy I would guess that you could probably punch both out with punch that’s long enough, you just made it the proper way, great work as always

    I`m just about rebuilding my radius arms for my 75 Inno 1300. Watching your video helped me finishing that job nicely - thank you for sharing!
    What I´m left with is the radial play that I found on both radius arms - that play is about 0,2mm, which I think is too much...
    From the theorie the tolerances of radius arm + shaft + xxx sum up and you need to "adjust" the installation somehow.
    My idea is to install the roller bearing NOT fully home, but stand off a couple of x/10mm and press that bearing home with the actual used shaft.
    This results in Zero axial play.
    Question to you: how do you set your axial play??
    Thank you for a breif response.

    • @classicminidiy
      @classicminidiy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not done this on a Hydro setup before but to my knowledge the pivot shaft is largely the same concept and process. I believe the hydro arms have the "two bushes" instead of a bushing and a needle roller. You should be able to use this same guide to accomplish the job.

      Usually they begin to squeak as the inner tube no longer retains grease. Its sort of a creak/squeak. Its a good idea if you know they are very old too though.
