I'd love to see them create rear fender kit "precut" as well ! I bought another product that wasn't pre cut and was really difficult to lay Flat due to the complex curves. It was a rolled sheet. Thanks Matt
Thanks for this video Matt! I like taking care of my stuff the best I can. I think I will get some. I like supporting small businesses. Never gotten chipped door hinges. Only gotten chips on my hood and grill. One rock probably fling from my tire and hit my passenger door by the window. I already touch it up. I have a nice door ding on my driver side bed and a small ding near my passenger rear door. That makes me upset that this happen on a 3 year Gladiator.
Picked these up from the first video. Proving great so far from those rocks that get stuck in the tire siping and then get launched the moment you come from the dirt and on the pavement.
After 3 months of my Jeep at the Dealership to get new hinges and the doors+hood painted from corrosion. I can finally put the protection film on. I hope Jeep gets their act together and makes the necessary corrections to take care of this. Who wants to spend $54K on a Jeep and 2yrs later it look awful.
Perfect timing for this video. I just bought a 2017 JK, already lifted with 37" tires, winch, in really good shape. Got Rock Stopperz for the hinges & a sunshade too. Thanks
I love watching all of your videos. You have taught me a lot- thank you! What is the top you have on your Jeep at 0:27? I saw it in your videos from Jeep beach as well.
Thanks for the kind words Kathy! It’s just the factory soft top, with our half doors and uppers. Check out our our painted half doors video. th-cam.com/video/p02IkD3CHCI/w-d-xo.html
Wish I knew about this sooner. Took mine down a gavel road 2 weeks after buying and now have 2 bad rock chips. Dealer going to fix it for $300 but I'm going to buy these right after the fix. Such a bad design flaw by Jeep, an off road vehicle that can't drive down a gravel road without taking damage.
I’ve already had chips above my rock slider right below my doors. I was thinking about applying these rock stoppers to that area as well. It would be cool if the made some for that
😂 I chipped my hinge on passenger side soon after purchase as well. Waiting for the dealer to get Earl touch up paint in has been painful. Applied some paint protective film on the hinges as well.
My only feedback, as I have done something similar with custom cut Xpel is that dirt builds up on the edges of the film. On white Jeeps especially it shows everything.
@@DIRTROADCRED yea so does mine.. However I noticed that even it has several pits and chips on them.. Guess it's just one of them things ya gotta deal with!👎
I have a 2 door and the product is notoriously not available. So I ordered the 4 door kit, the hinges should be same size, right? Plus I have a spare set…
It would be nice to have something like this to put on the door beside where the door locks are so you don't scratch your paint when you use the small ratchet that come with the jeep to take the door locks off.
Won’t the front tires be more likely to throw up rocks than the rear tires? And the rocks would come up from the bottom of the tire……..so i would think the better placement of the protecting material would be more effective if placed on the front side of the hinge. Or make the product larger to cover the whole hinge cylinder. Or use 2 pieces per hinge.
Matt, you mentioned something about ceramic coating. I had my 392 ceramic coated before delivery. Does that coating need to be removed from the hinges?
Honest question - Can 2-door hinges really take rock hits? It seems like it would have to be an extremely odd bounce or some absolute shit luck for a rock to hit a 2-door hinge the way rocks hit the rear hinges on a 4-door. The front fender flares (stock ones anyway) extend down pretty low; it's hard for me to visualize a rock coming up from there to a front hinge.
The lower one is definitely susceptible. The upper hinge is less of a concern, but if you have wider tires it can still take a hit. Also, driving on the highway means you're also vulnerable to what vehicles ahead of you kick up.
Matt, I thought I’d give a recommendation in my area. (Sort of). I’ve had a 16 jku hard rock for three years. Been watching your vids along with others and my wife got really jealous. Went to Rays jeep Chrysler dodge in fox lake , Illinois. We are from Milwaukee. Saw some of their inventory online and decided to check it out. Wife wanted earl but when she saw the 19 2dr punkin rubicon on the lot, she fell in love. It was already below market so no need to haggle. Long story short we bought it. They had already done the 2 doors and hinges prior to selling. We did notice later a couple hinges on the hood so we thought we’d take it in because it’s covered for 5 years or 50k for paint. Very important for your viewers. Get in before those timelines are up. So we went in with no appointment explained the situation and we had 4 people working with us. One woman (her name I can’t remember) was only in charge of paint warranties. She carefully inspected the vehicle and found areas on the hood and windshield enclosures that we even missed. She actually looked for the problems. Something you don’t find these days. I asked her what their process is for repaint. She said they do remove the hinges from the doors and repaint them both entirely, plus they use a gasket in between. The service manager said enjoy your weekend because he knew we were going away and told us to set up an appointment for repaint when we return home. Repainting is about a month out right now. So. To sum it up. Rays Jeep in Fox Lake Illinois(even though I’m from Wisconsin) has got to be one of the most responsive to this very issue. Honestly they do also sponsor a toys for tots parade of 500 jeeps every year and do a jeep giveaway. (maybe you could join us?) so they are very invested in the jeep community and want our business. So for this I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM. Maybe they could also be one of your preferred dealers in your program. I absolutely have no affiliation with them but I have very high satisfaction from them. Take care and keep making those awesome vids. Now that the wife has a jl, we may be upgrading to a 24 grill in punkin from distinction applied!
Rock Stopperz

Thank you, Matt and Ryan! We're happy to help solve a problem. Wish we would have gotten to it sooner.
If anyone has an questions about Rock Stopperz, this is the guy you want to talk to. 👍
@@DIRTROADCRED Great product. Stumbled upon them after taking a nice chunk out of my hinge. 10/10 recommend.
The mopar heavy duty step rock rail really keeps the rocks off the hinges because the stick out the right amount.
I saw these from your previous video, ordered them, and are installing them today. Thanks for introducing us to them.
Thanks Darren!
I'd love to see them create rear fender kit "precut" as well ! I bought another product that wasn't pre cut and was really difficult to lay Flat due to the complex curves. It was a rolled sheet. Thanks Matt
That would be neat!

Just ordered these last week. Love them.
Awesome!!
I agree!! Great product!! Good idea about picking up a second set!! I love products made in the USA! Happy to support!!🇺🇸💯❤️
Thanks Laura!!!!
Great product! Got mine when I saw the first video. Weird doing a mod that you really don't see and it looks like it came from the factory.
Thanks Dave!
A video on doing the touch up paint would be nice!
Good idea!
Ty I bought them after watching this video.
Love to hear it!

Unfortunately these won't fit a JK. It's a different hinge design.
@@jasonaverweg7014 Thanks for the update. Are JK ones in the works?
@@chuckgunn6166 I have one prototyped, but haven't been able to test fit it.
JK would be a nice addition!
I will be absolutely buying a set of these for my Gladiator! Thanks for sharing with us, keep up the awesome job!
DO IT 🤙
I bought a set a couple of weeks ago, and they were very easy to install.
Awesome. Glad to hear!
Just ordered some. Happy to buy from a small business!

DO IT
My only feedback, as I have done something similar with custom cut Xpel is that dirt builds up on the edges of the film. On white Jeeps especially it shows everything.
This can happen. Another reason to replace them from time to time. Xpel doesn't have a film this thick though. The film we use is twice as thick.
After some miles it will happen, luckily they are inexpensive to replace!
What about them rear flares they catch more chips than the hinges do?? Any ideas??🤔
Mine have clear film from factory on the colored fender flares!
@@DIRTROADCRED yea so does mine.. However I noticed that even it has several pits and chips on them.. Guess it's just one of them things ya gotta deal with!👎
In the cart but Im having trouble finding touch up paint for Punk N' Metallic.
@Tony Lewis no, just the full name from what I've found.
I think amazon has a decent offering!

Sweet!
Ordered two ✌️

I got a set few weeks ago because of your vid. Yeah sounds like a gun shot!
Mines been shot a few times 😊 … got me a set also
Matt who do you recommend for door hinge bushings?
It would be nice to have something like this to put on the door beside where the door locks are so you don't scratch your paint when you use the small ratchet that come with the jeep to take the door locks off.

Amazing! Rear fender flairs????
Good idea!
Matt, you mentioned something about ceramic coating. I had my 392 ceramic coated before delivery. Does that coating need to be removed from the hinges?
You will want to remove the coating from the hinges. A light polish might be enough.
Like Jason Said a light polish will help!
Any water leaks from front soft top doors?
Only with 30+ MPH winds while on the highway and it dumping rain we got a few drops.

Good question, like Murphys law , if its a possibility it can happen
Wouldn’t those snap on hinge covers work too?
For sure, but these are designed to not change the appearance of your jeep.
They would, however they would trap more dirt and moisture underneath
Do they leave a film on door if removed?
Not from what I can tell!
It would be rare for these leave adhesive behind. If they did, it can be cleaned with a general purpose adhesive remover.
Nice!
too late for my hinges. but cool idea.
😂 next jeep
how do you get your jeep above 20 MPG
Slow driving!
