BEWARE ! Just got my 2020 Jeep Rubicon back from Suncoast in Seminole FL, After 6 months of this process. Replaced all doors and the hood. Came back with a dozen air Bubbles in the new hood, door locks on passenger don't work, New warning light on dash, and Rubicon decals will not be put on for 3 more weeks. Such a mess with Suncoast DO NOT GO THERE for Corrosion warranty claim and they never offered me a rental took 2 weeks for them to complete
As a former body man, I see this from time to time. The NEW redesigned parts or hinges are much better than the factory originals. This is crazy to me. But it's getting to be a way of life with the way cars and trucks are being made today.
The hinges on the JL are already aluminum. The only problem I have had with the ones on my Gladiator is they get beat up by rocks. Nice jeep and video. Thanks.
I honestly think the lowers are more of an issue... at least on my JK all the paint is gone on the lowers and they are rusting... plus the lower sleeves are a massive problem. would love to see some lowers made by them with brass or bronze sleeves!
Having 2 metals touching with no barrier between them was a big no no, don't know why Jeep went ahead with that. Those billet aluminum hinges look bullet proof and very nice.
@@murphy2513 no. It's not just a hinge issue. Corrosion is being found on all parts of the door. It has to do with the prep at the factory. This will NOT solve anything. If he likes the look, that's cool, but to do this to "prevent" anything is just plain stupid.
Great idea!! I have an 18 JL with corroding doors and hood. Jeep refuses to fix saying it’s not covered under corrosion warranty, despite it being corrosion.
It’s covered for 5 years. We just got our ‘19 back from the body shop. Corrosion on the hood edge, hood hinges, all four door hinges and one of the door edges. Jeep was in the body shop for 26 days and we were given a loaner. If your dealer won’t budge, go to a different dealer.
Read the brake clean article I posted. Applying torch heat or welding on brake clean with argon can create Phosgene gas that if inhaled can paralize or kill you.

pretty much only jeep, but otherwise not wrong.
Nice little mod, Ken. Can't wait to see the big mods!
They all make a difference

I thought the hinges were steel or cast iron, hence the oxidation between two different metals coming into contact …

The JL platform is seeing the issue on all the hinges
Delrin sleeves. They’ll solve your issue
@@jonathanandersen5640 already running them
Why dont use a non rust hinges material?

I agree, Jeep dropped the ball
The OE hinges and doors are both aluminum.
This is awesome thanks for the tips/expertise!
What’s the best way to realign your doors if all hinges have been removed. Love the videos
Sledgehammers and duct tape
Or an ungodly amount of patience?
Those are beautiful! Love the video! Excellent as always :)
This won't fit the galvanic corrosion issue...
Ok
It may only because he painted the front, back and screw insets. Might be enough to isolate the hinge to door.

@@jonathanandersen5640 cool story but the doors were already replaced.

Absolutely aware of it and it's serious. Luckily we take precautions and don't use any heat until all the brake clean is gone.
The part where rhe steel frame touches the aluminum body is going to be the real problem overtime on the JLs
Time will tell
The floor pan isn’t aluminum. Also, the tub and frame don’t directly touch- there are body mounts between the two.
Next video... kick ass one ton axles?
Highly doubt it
Good stuff
That’s a nice lookin Jeep Tj in the background. Wonder who’s that is😅
Just be careful, I almost shot video of your Jeep while it was here !
Jeep quality strikes again.
Heyy I bought those same hinges off amazon! Lol
🔥🔥🔥
Sniffing that break clean can't be good 😮
It's actually very healthy, cleans sinuses, wounds and sins. 😅
Badass 👊
Its more than hinges. I have rust in behind my rear tow hooks 21 Gladiator. Jeep cant keep up with warranty claims.
Yup, ours has new doors and a hood. But the hinges we wanted to upgrade
