    What an easy fix by you for a problem that really shouldn’t exist. After seeing this I think everyone that really off-roads a JL will be coping your upgrade!!! Nice job yet again on the video and the great idea you had.

    Best and easiest 15 minutes I ever spent on any Jeep! I did go with the slightly larger welt and once I got it going it I was almost able to use my fingertips alone to get it in place!

    Excellent fix Eddie! If you ever have a problem with it stretching or shrinking with the change in temperature and the ends popping loose, a dab of clear silicone on each end will help stick it in place.

      Actually, I tested this out for quite a while before committing to making a video about it. So far, it's held up great. That being said, I'll be sure to post a follow up video if anything changes.

    So...I tried this on my JTR. The fenders are not quite the same configuration. It worked well on the fronts but there isn't the gap on the rear fenders to warrant it. Still not warm enough here to get out the pressure washer but it held up well going through the touchless car wash....and no more little stones to dig out!!! Thanks again for your video.

    Excellent advice, Eddie! And another well done video, too. My wife is holding me to my promise "not to buy a JL until I finish writing the book" I'm working on. Here in Utah we are still without our beloved Rubicon. The good news is, that we leave SLC on 29 September to fly to Vancouver, B.C. We'll board the Noordam on the 30th for a six day, one-way cruise to Oahu. From there we'll fly to the Big Island where we'll spend ten days (waiting for a renter to vacate our condo on Molokai). More good news: I told Debbie, "If we're going to spend ten days on the Big Island, we'll have to have a rental Wrangler." I hope Alamo will have a JL in stock that they can rent us for ten days. When we order our next Rubicon, it'll be ordered with the Pentastar V6. Deb's diesel Grand Cherokee has has a number of "100 percent full diesel exhaust filter" messages on it. Thanks for another of your superb video productions! I second various comments I've seen on your videos that FCA should hire you as an engineer. (And your wife as a video photographer.) Thank you both!

    What length is needed to cover all 4 areas above the fenders?
    Also what rubber trim would you recommend for the leaking issue for 2024 Wrangler JL(I have Willys, but I’m guessing they’re similar to the JL). I’ve heard much about this issue but don’t know much about whether Jeep has fixed this issue. I have seen water “drips” along the inside of passenger grab handles(not a lot but it’s present), and although everyone says it’s a Jeep, it’s suppose to get wet…..I for one prefer when it should get wet.

I was hoping to make some kind of fairing that covers this area as I am not sure the welt will be enough. I don't really have time to do that atm, so maybe the welt will tide me over until I do.

    Came out nice , has that factory installed look , as for the Little Rock’s you could’ve made a necklace out of them 😁

    I just came across this fix and am thinking of purchasing and implementing but since you posted this months ago, has it stayed in place? I live in NH and with that constant change of weather just wondering if it is reliable. Thanks!

      It held in place well all the way up until I started hitting my fenders on the rocks and broke a few of the mounting tabs. Now my fenders have enough movement in them that the trim can work itself free but not enough to come completely off. A simple tuck back in has all that's been needed in those instances.

    I did this mod and it keeps popping out. I take the plastic tool and work it back in but it seems to keep working itself out especially at the fender and side vent location. Any thoughts on how to keep it in there? Was thinking a touch of hot glue. Thanks

      We were running Cooper STT Pros at the time of this video.

    How is the Trim-Lok holding up? Are you still using this or have you changed to something else.

    • @wayalife
      @wayalife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      So, we've hit ALL of our fenders on the trail and enough so that one is cracked and the rest have broken tabs. This has allowed for significant movement in the fenders and the trimlock is having a harder time staying in. Friends of ours who have not broken any fender tabs do not have this problem.

    How does this fix hold up long term? Does the gravel push it up over time?

    • @wayalife
      @wayalife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So long as you don't damage your fenders on the rocks, it holds up pretty well.

    I'm curious, did you add any 3M tape? Gow does it stay in place??

    Just ordered my JL with the same fenders you have, at 3:55 in the video it looks like the rear fended is cracked. Is that a common issue with the painted ones? Nice mod and just ordered the gap fill.

      @wayalife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The crack you see on our fender is from me sliding into a snow bank and breaking it. If you have a crack and haven't been wheeling, you should have your dealership address it.

    Based on the SKU shown in your video at the 1:19 mark, that is the solid foam core .38 diameter yet the link takes us to the hollow core .257 diameter tubing. Which is correct and was there a problem with the .38 solid? Sorry if you have already answered. Thanks for the great videos.

    • @wayalife

      How weird. What I got was definitely hollow like a tube.

    I noticed on your newer video you don’t use these rock catchers. Have you found a better way to get the rocks out or what are you doing now? I’m so tired of dealing with these rocks and have to do something soon.

      LOL - we've banged up our fenders and enough so that they're cracked and missing clips. This allows the fenders to flop around and prevents the welt from staying in place. I just need to fix our fenders and I'll be reinstalling this stuff.

    Love this channel. I just picked up my 2022 Gladiator. Fist two mods were an antenna swap to a shorty and added a phone holder. This is going to be my third! Did you use the tube style or the solid core style? Thanks again sir.

    • @wayalife
      @wayalife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I recommend using the solid as it will hold in better.

      On Amazon's site, for solid I see .25 or .38 dia, which one should I choose? I don't see .276" dia.

    • @wayalife
      @wayalife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for the confusion. .276" is what you would use with the tube style. It was the only thing available at the time. .25" should work with solid. .38 might be a bit much but it does crush well and might hold better.

      As I've mentioned earlier, I've tested this out for quite a while before committing to making a video about it. So far, it's held up great. I of course will make an update if anything changes.
