Very cool. I just picked up my '24 Rubicon and haven't had it offroad just yet. Hopefully soon will find the time. Mine is a manual. Any idea if this does anything specific to the manual?
Great question. I don't own the manual (wanted one bad but they were all on a no sale hold waiting on a clutch recall so I couldn't buy a manual last August when I bought this). So I'm not sure if and what features work in the manual. Hopefully someone with one will chime in.
Crazy! Ill have to tey this on my 22 rubicon gladiator. A big selling point on the Mojave is that you can lock the rear locker in 4HIgh. So this is a crazy revelation being that a rubicon has a front locker also.
@TheDirtCreature seriously. YES YOU CAN. Go want my other videos to see how to do it and then go try it for yourself. Stop telling me I can't. It's not a secret that you can.
I built mine from scratch in 2022 I don't have that button. I just have the swaybar disconnect. I'm guessing because I have the 4auto instead of the 4H
2021 was the first year Rubicons (Wrangler or Gladiator) got it, Gladiators (Mojave specifically) got it in 2020. In 2024 Willys also got offroad+ mode along with all its other upgrades.
I would believe so but not sure. Would have to check one out and see. The Mojave has the high performance off road suspension but gives up the front locker. So not sure about the off road plus button.
Great detail.... It's always been the use it now? button for me. I'm curious what combination people use for highway snow driving... Like when its chains or 4wd conditions. I'm pretty much just 4 High and go in my Mojave but maybe I should be using lockers or Off Road+
In snow on the highway I would just be in 4 high and let traction control handle the slippery conditions. In order to turn on the locker you have to disable traction control. On slippery snow the traction control is your friend
@oxdogoxSF yep in deep snow at slower speeds I prefer tracri9n control off and rear locker engaged. In those situations traction control just limits my power. But on slick roads traction control is great

Modes are often not mentioned or under rated. I got a 2018 Renegade at a real steal in May 2019. I live in MT and frankly other than the Gladiator I got now, a Renegade is a very good Montana Car. But anyway I discovered the "Sand Mode" in the Renegade and the description is almost identical in that it became more torquey and the shift points dropped. I called it Easter Egg mode and on National Forest Roads you could fly... But it also had great engine breaking on the way down at speed. Oh, I traded the Renegade for a Gladiator in Dec. I wanted one back in 2019, but they were just too expensive. But in December an opportunity to get one at 30% off was just too much to pass up. AND a decent trade on the Renegade. The Renegade was a good vehicle with limited off road capability so the bias was paved roads, but I still took it a few places that were pushing it and it made it. The Gladiator is not as "refined" in terms of road manners on paved roads, but it will go places the Renegade couldn't like Tizer Lakes a few miles down the road from me. I tried but it was too much for the Renegade. The Gladiator is like, that was fun, what next.
2 amazing vehicles. I own a gladiator and I had a 2020 renegade. I took thst renegade places it should never have gone and it did great. So a roomy great little suv and was a fantastic price

It auto manages the gearing so it doesn't shift when climbing or trailing. In the dunes you will lose speed with out it. It doesn't give you more power of torque.
It does give you more power and torque by changing the shift points to hold gears longer. Like you said. But that allows you to stay in the higher rpms longer giving you access to more power and torque transfered to the wheels
It only allows for rear locker in 4h and in 4 h only works up to 20 miles an hour then locker kicks off. 4 h is not a crawl mode used for higher speeds. In 4h it's supposed to be for a little more traction without going 4 low .
You should not need a locker faster that 20 mph. 4 low doesn't give more traction than 4 high. 4 low just changed the gearing. And going into 4 low at every obstacle then back to 4 high for driving gets old fast down here in the swamps with an obstacle every quarter mile. The offroad plus button and the rear locker in 4 high gives a person all the capability needed to get theu holes and obstacles without going into 4 low. I use this mode 30 times a week in my 300 miles a week in the swamps. Love this offroad plus mode. But that said now that I have a tazer mini and can use my rear locker in 2wd and both lockers in 4 high I will probably never go into 4 low again.
When shifting into 4-Hi under Off-Road Plus mode, you’ll see more responsive acceleration and a change in the way the vehicle performs in softer terrain. The mode dials in a more tuned traction control, allowing for additional wheel slip in sandy conditions to ensure the vehicle doesn’t bog down and lose momentum. Additionally, this mode optimizes transmission behavior, holding gearing longer and keeping the revs high for continued power. This is crucial when attempting to traverse a muddy patch on the trail, or looking to crest a particularly tall series of sand dunes. Finally, using Off-Road Plus in 4-High also modifies the Jeep’s Electronic Stability Control, making it less obtrusive and generally keeping it from impeding movement so quickly - helping the vehicle overcome traction issues in sand, mud or snow.
As someone who offroads my jeep like crazy and rock crawling as much as I can, I never use the off road + button. just dont get the point of it. Holds gears longer thats about all I know it does. The fact I live in 4lo, just doesn't seem to be a benefit. I think its for highspeed baja stuff
Different types of offeoad. Me personally this button is amazing as some one that offroads to get from point a to point b in the swamps and mtns and woods. I do not ever rock crawl or purposely look for obstacles to drive over. For me it's a matter of exploring new places finding new hinting spots and being able to there and back with all the mud holes, water crossings, and swamp crap. And this button is a priceless.
@@Jason-Samko I get it.. but lets be honest, I've seen where you're at, you could easily do all that in 2wd :) , I think holding the gears longer is a benefit in the sand, like the dunes
What does it do ....unnecessarily complicate crap in what should be a simple basic system I really like the idea of the gladiator but thanks to videos like this I remain debt free 😂😂😂
Debt free should always be the goal and a great way to be. But this button is 100% amazing. It's like having a 4 high, 4 medium (with this button) and an insane 4 low. Jeep does it right! Love this button.
As a guy who built my own Jeep, 6.0 , one tons, linked front and rear etc. , these things scare me, way too much computer controlled crap. These things are like a video game. You don’t need pitch and roll, your sphincter muscle will give you all the information you need!
@@Jason-Samko You should be using it anytime your not on the pavement and even then...I use it on dirt roads to smooth out the ride. One of the best parts of using a Tazer.
Please never say that it changes the gearing ever again lol. That’s not how that works. 😂 It essentially does 4 things. 1. Allows you to drive at higher speeds with rear locker engaged. 2. Disables Traction Control 3. Adjusts throttle for off road driving. 4. Adjusts auto trans shift points for off road use.
Exactly everything I said it does. I just said gearing because it feels like it changs your rear ratios. Obviously it's only shift points but not all people under stand that and explaining like I said with feeling like it changes your gearing makes it easier for people to under stand and makes more sense. I was ase certified mechanic for 10 years then an automotive engineer for 16 years. I know how it all works. But it's important for me to translate it so it makes the best sense. Most people out there don't even know what a locker is lsd is how traction control works etc. So I try to simplify to help them understand
Not too sure i'm convinced that this is anything to do with changing 'gear ratios' and such... you get the exact same 'feeling' and such if you just turn off traction control/esc. traction control/esc limits your power sooooo much all by itself. would pretty much guarantee that all that 'torquey-ness' is just turning those off lol.
It remaps the throttle, so when you push down on the gas it actually move the throttle blade instead of holding it back. Typically on modern cars the throttle blade may only open 20-30% even with the pedal halfway down. Using offroad+ basically makes it like an old mechanical throttle where the throttle blade opened 1:1 with how much you pushed on the gas pedal. It doesn't increase HP but makes the engine snappier and respond much faster to throttle inputs. In 4lo is does the opposite and makes the throttle react slower for better low speed control.
In the 90's I had an old 1988 Toyota Hilux. It had manual locking hubs and 4x4, thats it. That thing went all over New Zealand, up the mountains and through the rivers. We didnt need all those electronics. I just dont get why all that crap is in these vehicles now. And yes, I now own a 2023 Mojave....I miss my old Hilux.

Can you confirm this?
The car manual states that the Off Road+ mode will not work in 2H mode. If the button is pressed in 2H mode, the dash display shows the message "Off Road+ Unavailable Shift to 4WD".
What about the front.. can u also lock them?
yes but you have to be in 4 low to lock the fronts. Unless you get the tazer mini. That will by pass the safety and let you engage fronts in 4 high too.
Nice work! Looks great!
Thanks

With a tazer mini I can lock both front and rear in 4hi and can lock the rear in 2wd on my rubicon
Thank you for this! super informative!

You cannot lock the rear in 4 High and OffRoad + from the factory. You can disable the sway bar.

@@Jason-Samko Thanks.... It's always worked so far except when I get back off the highway in new snow.
@oxdogoxSF yep in deep snow at slower speeds I prefer tracri9n control off and rear locker engaged. In those situations traction control just limits my power. But on slick roads traction control is great
Holy Cow, I just sold my 2005 LJ that I had over 700 hours building over the last 13 years. Sold her and bought a 2023 392 last week, power windows, door locks, its like a damn space ship. This is cool but its like going from a 1941 Willys to the Millinnium Falcon.....

You can stay in 4H and disconnect the sway bar and lock the hubs I think
Not sure about the sway bar in 4 high. I never tried it yet. You can lock the rear locker in 4 high if yoy have the offroad plus button. To lock the fronts and rear lockers in 4 high you need a tazer mini
@@Jason-Samko as long as you are in 4wheel of any range you can use the swaybar. It will reconnect at 19mph, and disconnect itself again when you drop to 14mph or below.
I grabbed a tazer so I can disconnect in 2wd or at any speed for our GA forest service roads because playing thatbconnecting/disconnecting game is frustrating
@vdub5818 thank you for the info. I have only disconnected mine one time so far just to make sure it worked. But when the swamps fill up herebin south east ga it will be handy to have the extra articulation in the holes

What are some good Jeep groups to join in Georgia?
Not sure. I'm not part of any.

2024 wrangler Willys does I just bought one used with 5k miles
Yep in 24 they added the offroad plus and rear locker to the willys
Way better then a bunch of marketing gimmick “modes” that you see on the bronco
It auto manages the gearing so it doesn't shift when climbing or trailing. In the dunes you will lose speed with out it. It doesn't give you more power of torque.
It does give you more power and torque by changing the shift points to hold gears longer. Like you said. But that allows you to stay in the higher rpms longer giving you access to more power and torque transfered to the wheels
How about "effectively" gives more torque because it changes shift points?
@@Jason-Samko 4L is stronger than 4H, as it provides more torque and power to the vehicle's wheels.
@geneshadd4483 true but 4 low doesn't provide any more traction just changes gearing
@@geneshadd4483 very spot on. That's why I love this button

Agree. And if I want to hold the gears longer I kick the lever to manual. But this is what we get today.
I wish it unlocked the sway bar under 20mph in off-road+
I think the tazer mini allows it. But I would double check. I rarely use my sway bar disconnect
@@Jason-Samko You should be using it anytime your not on the pavement and even then...I use it on dirt roads to smooth out the ride. One of the best parts of using a Tazer.
Please never say that it changes the gearing ever again lol. That’s not how that works. 😂
It essentially does 4 things.
1. Allows you to drive at higher speeds with rear locker engaged.
2. Disables Traction Control
Where are the 2024 Jeep Gladiators
Expected to hit dealers in a couple months. The strike held them up big time. Just like the 24 colorados and canyons
Off road button is perfect for sand.
Agree 100
Not too sure i'm convinced that this is anything to do with changing 'gear ratios' and such... you get the exact same 'feeling' and such if you just turn off traction control/esc. traction control/esc limits your power sooooo much all by itself. would pretty much guarantee that all that 'torquey-ness' is just turning those off lol.
@HDFoxra this button changes the shift points and hils the gear longer. It's amazing it's like having a 4 medium. I love and use this button daily
The Mojave has off-road+.
Thank you for the update and answering this. Love this button. I'm in 4 high with offroad plus 4 days a week. Such a great button
