    I was removing surface rust from suspension arms and brackets and then sprayed the metal with protective paint. 3 very long days under the car. To do a car like this needs a lot of skills, determination and steel patience . I don't think i could ever do that.

  • @zackw4941
    @zackw4941 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wow, I sure wish I could have given my old Miata to this guy. I had a 2000, bought mint in 2004. Loved it for a long time. Won a bunch of autocrosses. But I was young and dumb and didn't know about Fluid Film and it was my only car, year round. Rust took it from me.
    Watching this work is incredible. At my shop, we have a welder come in sometimes to do emergency rust "repairs." Guy spends an hour or two, loosely tacks some paper thin sheet metal over a gaping hole in the chassis and everyone acts like it's fixed. They look at me cross eyed the next time the vehicle comes in and I tell them I can't put it up on a normal lift because there's still no structure under the patch...

    • @yorkshirecarrestoration
      @yorkshirecarrestoration  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We have seen repairs like that a lot, that's why we always put enough strength back so the car can easily be jacked up on the repair sections again :)

    Nice - I have a paint cup with some thinners in it - I use a paintbrush to flow out the sealant over the welds - dip the brush in the thinner, use that to smooth the sealant after you gun it on - leaves it looking tres posh. Underseal over that - ends up real smooth. :-)

    • @yorkshirecarrestoration
      @yorkshirecarrestoration  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Almost all the time the patch panels aren't big enough and/or they aren't available to everyone or at all, like the rear sill bulkhead panel :) so we try to show people how to fabricate things themselves, this channel isn't just about repairing cars its about showing people how to fabricate themselves, nobody would learn anything sept a bit of welding if we did that :)

    I appreciate the craftmanship, on the radiator support area just wondering how cost efftive the labor to crate the patches is, I show alot of these parts to be in the 30 to 130 USD range, not sure how much you charge to fabricate but it may be cheaper to just section in the OEM parts at the factory seams, not like this is a super rare car the parts are no longer available .
