I as a white British man WHOLEHEARTEDLY am not in the 85% of people that want a PM that looks like me. I want someone to do the job correctly and listen the the British public.
The crazy part is that these same people would vehemently defend that Chicken Tikka Masala is a British dish, as it was invented by two South Asians in Glasgow, but would deny that if those two South Asians have a kid in Hampshire the kid is British. If you produce food it is British, but if you produce people those aren't British at all.
It's the same here in Germany. Turkish people aren't considered German, even if they are born here, but they consider Döner a german dish, because it was invented by a turkish man in Berlin.
Only the ignorant minority, not representative of most lucid minded brits. Don't tar us all with the same brush. Racism is everywhere, in all cultures, ethnicities. If people were integrating more (as a Hindu man said), half the racism wouldn't occur. The Councils don't help as they are the ones that create ghettos for different nationalities lumped together. Integration = peace

Boris was born in the USA. His Father is Half French and his grandfather is half Turkish. I think the caller really meant to say that Rishi Sunak isn't white
That’s exactly what he meant. His preference, Boris Johnson is part Turkish and part French. He was born in America too. So, apart from his white skin, blond hair and blue eyes, he isn’t fully English. Jerry will overlook facts in favour of his myopic view.

Agreed... But don't just dismiss where this is coming from. Dismissing these people will only push them to the fringe even more. There needs to be engagement and discussion with nuance.. he is pointing out something interesting - can he as a white man become prime minister of Pakistan? I am not saying what's right or not, it's the deep prejudices people have on something immutable like color of the skin...those prejudices when labelled as racism doesn't recify the issue, or solve the problems....it villifies people holding these beliefs and pushes them out further on radicalization curve....instead it would be far better to engage and hear them out without labelling them... understand where it's coming from and educate and build a rapport rather then dismissing them or labelling them as villains ..and this is all coming from a non white person
Jerry could’ve saved us all nearly 7 minutes and just said from the jump: “I won’t vote for him because he’s brown.” We all knew exactly what he meant when he said Johnson is “more English”, the dance was unnecessary 🤦🏾♂️
" My friend was born in Uganda. He's white as a snow. He's not African is he ?" Africa is not a country . Also nationality / citizenship & ethnicity/ race / heritage are two different things.
If you look at the polls he not only got through but came out first on every single round. It was only towards the end when they realized he was actually going to win that they gave him the kiss of death (a Gove endorsement).
That was pretty obvious. It wasn't a vote for Truss, it was a vote against the "brown guy". What Sunak other people of color in the Tories naively ignore is that the Tories do not respect them. They tolerate them, and barely at that. You could be the most qualified for candidate for PM, if you are not white, the members will rather vote for some white bloke who's brain dead and in a coma before they vote for you.

How is he not self aware of what he just said? I also take issue with being lumped in with that 85% figure, this man does not speak for me, I actually prefer Rishi, but then I'm also not conservative and would prefer a general election to sort this mess out.
Frankly, he already showed his cards when he said that his mate in the military is "white as snow"...as if there are no people with white skin living in Uganda. But in his mind, if your skin is white, you can't be an Ugandian.

@@stewartpartridge8345 Yes, there are exceptions to every rule. As for your concerns regarding what would happen in Ireland following Brexit, you really were the exception there.
Ironic that a "brown" man became the leader of the SNP and the Scotlands 1st minister.
He said he represents the average tory member. That tells a lot of the tory party, today.
@renideo I’ll guess we’ll find out wherever they vote boris or rishi when boris inevitably garners the 100 mps

Last time Rishi lost out to Liz Truss, and Rishi is quite obviously a far more capable person.
Then maybe it was on policy position. Tortes like lower taxes and lower immigration. Rishi stands for neither .
Rishi was the one who tanked the economy under Boris. What are you talking about?
No.

Yeah he's obviously far more capable. I particularly like his long, 7 year career in politics and his superb performance destroying the British economy when he was chancellor 😆
“Can you imagine him going to the Scottish Nationalists?” Yes! They’ve just voted in a brown Muslim as their leader!
