Weird carpet 😂 you’re so right! What an incredible story and positive way to consider things. Very moving. Thank you for another fab video, I really enjoy watching xx
I adore this video. Subscribed about 3 minutes in. Please keep making videos... you have a gift and it felt so wonderful as you were sharing it. The miniatures are lovely, combined with the commentary the video becomes a treasure. I will most likely watch it more than once after I watch your other videos. Thank you for this... thank you so much !
I was moved by your story. I'm glad you have made peace with your past, but I'm sorry you needed to. You did a great job with the tiny books and library. I love books and kitties!
Thank you. I watched this video on my own Dad’s 88th birthday, after we just hosted a birthday-memorial Zoom in his honor. He passed a few weeks ago. My relationship with my dad was complicated, though not as much so as yours, it seems. Still, we had the benefit of 22 extra years after his brain surgery, time in which he lost many things, but also gained the ability to apologize, and to express love in ways he could not before that. One of the things he gave me was a love of Science Fiction, and I read Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 for the first time using a copy he had saved from my mother’s over-zealous, pious book-burning phase (a particularly odd phase, given that she, like her mother, was a teacher!). “We don’t burn books.” No, we don’t. We treasure them, and when we are done with them, we share them with others. Thank you for this adorable Little Free Library build. Your clever voiceover made me laugh out loud more than once, and your story moved me. I can’t think of anything more appropriate to build it out of than matchsticks, after hearing that story. Thank you. I wish you continued peace with your Dad’s memory. You’ve won a subscriber today.
I love mini books so much and I have a collection of about 200 page books. These ones are amazing and are better than many others I have purchased! Thank you!
Came here to see a cute little library ended up crying over the story 😭 i resonate with this so hard and i'm so glad you're able to come to terms with everything :)
You had a connection with your father AND... your father LOVED YOU! It sometimes takes time for us to understand how much our parents loved us... KNOW that your father loved YOU!!! And I'm so glad that you address that in your video. Please know that you are not alone. There are others like you! THANK YOU FOR SHARING SO VERY VERY VERY MUCH beyond "just" your creativity. The "just" being huge - perspektive!
How absolutely clever your Little Library is! Now I want to make one too! I have been struggling to make realistic miniature books for a few weeks now. Your video has been a real help to me. Thank you for sharing the story about your Dad. It is a blessing that you now have understanding of where he was coming from and there is peace and forgiveness. My Father was a glorified sperm donor who died in 2021. We had things in common and I do miss him though I still have not been able to truly mourn. Thank you for this wonderful video!
Thanks so much for adding your thoughts on the video and sharing about your own father. I hope you find any closure you need. And I wish your book project every success!
@@TinyUrchin Thank you for responding, Tiny! I want to make several books, actually as anything in miniature fascinates me. As for my Pop, I suppose, just as it did for you, the working out/closure will come at some time in the future. I await your next video with anticipation!
Wonderful mini library! Thank you for sharing the story about your Dad. It's strange how our perception of our childhoods and our parents changes as we become adults ourselves, we understand them in a whole new way, see them with new eyes. I'm looking forward to your next creation
This whole video is wonderful. The techniques, extra info on your process, well scripted and concise voice over. Lack of "you tuber" accent also appreciated.
I love your sense of humor! Please continue posting videos as long as you can. Books used to come accordian pleated and people cut them to read them. My ex-partner sold books and he just about cried when a dumpster diver came in with a valuable old book. The guy proudly declared that he had cut all the pages open. My partner gently told him that the book had far more value before the mutilation.
Very interesting. I had no idea they used to come in accordions! And thank you! I am loving this medium and will definitely keep posting videos! Takes me awhile, but I'm really enjoying the process.
Cute idea that’s well executed. Thanks for the patterns, especially the book covers. The photography was great and I really enjoyed your subtle humor throughout.
Free books in every sense! This video goes much deeper than many realise. Thank you for the tutorial, the patterns and the well told story. Looking forward to more content from you, you lovely soul.
That’s a cute little book exchange station, thank you for sharing your journey to understanding your Dad and learning that he really was the best Dad he knew how to be. My Mom was an avid reader, it was she who gave me my love of books.my first adult job once I walked out of school was to work in a printing press company. They had an old press from the 19th century which was used for specialty jobs. Like wedding invites, the thank you cards as well as the place setting name tags it was the only printer that could print embossed lettering so I became an apprentice bookbinder. During WWII Hitler burned many books that he deemed inappropriate, during that time many old very old books were lost to the world because of him. So I knew why your Dad said “we don’t burn books” books hold the knowledge of the past and even the future as long as there are books there will always be knowledge for future generations to learn from.
This video has touched me beyond belief. Your story is so close to my own. I too am Grateful for a Dad who did the very best he could. Millions of tears later, I have complete love and forgiveness in my heart. You are incredible. Thanks for your ideas, artisty, kindness and time.
INCREDIBLE! I hope to attempt to make one of these to put in the box of a family that has donated books I have picked up for my Grandchildren. Won't they be Surprised! This is the Best Project Ever! Thanks for Sharing😂❤❤❤
An excellent video! Thank you so much. As a librarian, your comment about carpet nearly made me snort coffee. We are going with polished concrete in the fornt third of my branch, after many tribulations with carpet and tile.
I just want to say, I happened upon this tutorial by accident while googling ideas for making myself a mini library for in my car. I found this so intriguing even though it hadn’t been what I was looking for that I opened my app to save the video and revisit it as I love books and miniatures 💕 Thank you for this. Definitely will be checking out your other videos as a result! Keep being awesome💕
Wonderful video! Thanks for the book template, as well. I share a similar story, only with my alcoholic mother. It took me many years to forgive her, but I am glad I did and I understand that feeling of a weight coming off your body. Your father must've loved you tremendously and be so proud of you, even if he's not on earth any more. I look forward to watching more of your creative videos!
This was a most wonderful way to start my day. You are a gifted storyteller. I collect banned books and try to get the original covers. My dog got ahold of Slaughterhouse Five and ripped the cover to shreds. I was stressed and left it on the table with its torn pieces. I'm now going to tape it back together and put it in the little library down the block so someone else can read it. Thank you for the lovely idea. I definitely subscribed, and I can't wait to see what else you have in store for us. Have a blessed day ❤🕊
Why doesn't TH-cam allow me a hundred thumbs up? I love this and I loved your reminiscence of your dad. I don't think younger generations have the same abhorrence of book burning as those of your father's generation and before. That possibly added to his strong stand on the subject. Mostly though, I love how you were able to give him such a gift! He saw you attain that of which he had been deprived: an education. You made your daddy proud. That's so much more important as we get older. Thank you for this!
I have watched so many mini book making videos, but I have to say yours is my new favorite! Your clear, pleasant narration, the very well presented steps to making your little treasures, and your wit just had me entranced to the very end. And to top it all off, your poignant story about your dad brought a bittersweet tear to my eye. You are very good at this and I am so looking forward to many more videos in the future.
Thank you so much for your wonderful message! I'm so glad to hear so many aspects of the video resonated with you. Thank you again, and I look forward to sharing many more videos with you!
