- Ethel bagging in the Peak District - the Ethels are 95 Peak District hilltops over 400m above sea level plus other significant hills.
They are named after countryside access pioneer Ethel Haythornthwaite, who was behind the creation of the Peak District National Park.
In June 2023 I went on a solo quest to climb three of the Ethels near Earl Sterndale and Hollinsclough - High Wheeldon, Hollins Hill and High Edge. It was a super hot day and I had some difficulty actually reaching Hollinsclough thanks to all the paths I tried to take being closed!
Awesome video, looks like a great time. New friend here.
Thanks so much and thanks for watching

Loved the 360 view's Steph. Ethels l must bag on a cloudless day. Many thanks.
Thanks, there were some great views on this wall! Definitely one for a clear day
Wonderful hike and beautiful views. Thank you for sharing. Like 15 and a new subscriber 👍
Thanks so much for liking and subscribing! Sorry I've just seen this
Hi ya 😊 Thanks for the mention. This is a lovely area in the Peaks. You had good weather too, a bonus! ☺️ I’m liking the jazzy music too 🎶
Thanks Rachel, it was gorgeous weather, that heatwave in June before the disappointing July and August!
Lovely hike out for you. Weather conditions changed to autumn. Best wishes on the next adventure.
Thanks yes it was a good day out!
love the walk Steph nice one Thank you .
Thanks Andrew and thanks so much for watching
Nice circular route Steph. I've never been up any of those three hills you bagged. You got some great views of the Dragon's Back. Annoying about that closure after you'd walked all that way. I do love that little honesty shop 👍
Thanks Patrick, yes I tried three paths and all of them were closed, so annoying! That honesty shop is great - I'll definitely be paying it another visit before too long
Nice one Steph. Some of my local Ethals there. My very local a Carder Low and Pilsbury Hill. We live in Parsley Hay. 👌
Thanks, it’s a lovely area to live!
Footpaths closures 😮 How annoying 😟 Definitely want to do camp on those hills!
It was! Yes it would be a fantastic spot! Ideal for a good sunset/ sunrise x
