Hi James, thank you SO much! So glad you managed to pick up on this new channel - it already seems worthwhile and so I will endeavour to get more hills and hillforts in the can. Maybe we could link up for a joint video collaboration sometime?
Ahaa!! Subscribed. I must have driven by this one loads of times without knowing to that it was called Beacon Hill. I know the one on the South Downs near Petersfield. I seem to recall wild camping nearby on some barrows although it wasn't called that then. Haven't seen mess tins for a long time!! Still have mine they must be antiques by now 😂😂😂 I drove my Mum up to Butser Hill last week and then into the Iron Age camp nearby. Look forward to seeing your excellent drone shots soon. Good luck with your new channel. All the best!!
Hey David, thanks for watching! Yes I thought I would experiment with a new channel - hopefully this is what people would like, time will tell. Beacon Hill is lovely and definitely worth a visit, when the ground is dry.
Excellent. It is one of those hill forts one drives by and earmarks for an exploration! You had a a great day for it and the views were sublime. Very well-defined structure up there. Easy to see why they chose the location. Bit of a shame about the A34, but I’d say it’s well worth a visit and you’ve done a good job promoting it. All the best with the new channel. I will subscribe now and click the bell!
Thank you so much WC21, returned the compliment of course. Yes the A34 is an almost persistent noise, also the hill is steep and slipper in the wet, but on a day like this, it is an amazing place to be! Thanks again. -Heds
Hi Sam, thanks SO much for watching! I thought I would try creating this new TH-cam channel so I can do more of these. The view of Highclere is great from up there isn't it, I loved doing that drone shot of it! Feel free to join me on any of these if you have suggestions? -Heds
@@hedleythorne am hoping to start a series on hillforts in the autumn but i still can't tell if its going to be met with angry pushback 🤬or just crickets 🦗
Always been my favourite thing to do.... You could make 50 videos in the peak District alone, been exploring there for years and there is still places and hills I want to crack. If you get a chance "alport castle" off snake pass, well worth a visit
Nice guide and well shot 👍 Only (constructive) criticism would be, maybe drop the level of the background music on the sections where you're speaking to camera on the A-roll?
I know that feeling, I had to stop now and again. Funny you should mention the Red Kites, when I was up there I saw one attacking a raven - I am wondering whether the raven was after its eggs or chicks.
Lovely. What did you think of your Firepot meal? (In the yellow bag) We have just bought some but haven't tried them yet. I like the music you play in your videos too.
Hi there, thanks for commenting. The Firepot meal was quite good, but not as nice as the "Summit to Eat" equivalent which had a bit more flavour and mixed with the water better. If the Summit meals didn't exist, I'd be happy with Firepot. I love the tunes that are available for me to use in my videos- there is some really nice music out there!
Weeeeeeyheeeeeeey. Nice one Hedley.
Yeehaw, thanks! Thanks for promoting it too
Excellent video Hedley, slick intro, focussed. A perfect guide. Thank you
Thank you SO much for watching, appreciated! -Heds
Looking forward to the 52 in Wiltshire being explored and climbed. Get to it Headley.........
Haha, oh what have I started?!
Happy to be in the first wave of subscribers. Thanks Hedley!
Thank you so much! Great to have you subscribed.
Great video work. Thanks
Thank you very much
Great fun Hedley -I have subscribed and posted on my FB History group 👍👍

Definitely worth the climb, if it's dry.
Lovely stuff, Heds! I do enjoy walking up to Beacon Hill and admire the views, including Highclere Castle's

@HillsandHillforts Will definitely take you up on the offer 😃
I understand all the walks you have been posting now, nice one Hedley
Thank you so much!
great to see you with a hillforts channel, big ups!
Thank you so much, not sure whether or not this will work but if people like it I will do more of these!

Super idea thanks- I am also exploring the idea of Brecon Beacons. The next episode is "in the can" but I haven't yet edited it.
@@hedleythorne can't wait 🤜🤛 got to add the Wrekin to the list too, on a good day you can see it all the way from airport heights

Great idea, thank you - will do. Still quite new to this! Thanks again for watching, appreciated.
Climbing up there always makes me wish I was fitter but it is worth it. There are frequently red kites or buzzards catching thermals over the scarp.

@@hedleythorne I don't know enough about them to even speculate but that would imply they nest somewhere near?
@@PeterWasted I am wondering whether they were nesting in the juniper bushes to the South. It looked rather violent!

Haha, well... Coffee!
