    • @maxk880
      @maxk880 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BlackDiamondPrince jujutsu is the original combination name of all kinds of samurai fighting styles from Japan, late 19th century. Judo and BJJ and indirectly sambo as well come from this collection of styles. It's striking, transition/wrestling and ground game.
      It''s originally meant to be the most optimal martial art to use in combat when everyone is in armor, like in the fights the samurai originally fought. It's still amazing for self defense, the throws and joint locks destroy someone's capability to do anything back. Lots of moves from Japanese jujutsu are illegal in MMA because they are very dangerous.

    Coming from a Japanese jiu jitsu and judo background, a lot of this looks super familiar. • @slicedtopieces
      @slicedtopieces 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Tim Scholz It's called Shorinji Kan jiu jitsu and is the style taught within The Jitsu Foundation (TJF). Despite it's name, it doesn't exactly have a huge lineage in Japan as it's really a post-WWII style that might be best described as judo + striking. I just call it Japanese jiu jitsu to differentiate it to BJJ as that's more popular these days.

  • @torosdepamplona
    @torosdepamplona 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Bravo! This is what I was taught early on - it’s a complete system to allow you to defend yourself if attacked while unarmed. You can’t just train one thing and leave the rest out, like taking every fight to the ground or trying to box it out without thinking of getting stabbed, jumped by a third attacker, or learning how to take a punch and pick yourself up to keep on fighting.
    Very refreshing to see this. Thank you!

    I like Jiujitsu and all. Practiced it for a few years. Most of this stuff here is legit. The headlock escapes and throws are stuff we drilled at the school I was at. But the knife attacts displayed here are just not realistic at all. Nobody attacking with a knife typically comes running from a great distance and over exaggerates their attack like that so you are prepared for it. Stabbings happen in close proximity with little to no warning typically. Wrestling or trying to disarm a knife or gun barehanded is not usually advised.

    • @coltondevalle5421
      @coltondevalle5421  5 ปีที่แล้ว +83

      We do have defenses for knife attacks at close range but we chose not to display them in this video because it is hard to tell what is happening on camera. We also practice the knife attacks in more realistic situations with the person actually trying to stab you and resisting. We also don’t advise trying to disarm attackers of their knifes or guns as a good first option. However if someone is trying to stab you or harm you with a gun these techniques may be utilized. As they say it is better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Get that is only an approuching to terrible scenaries... Do not forget an entire community is watching At you and may these get a wrong idea... Is much better train harder In order to At least try preventing these surprising attacks ...some time by running like hell. It also works

      @Polentaccio 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@javierortizgarcia92357 let's be honest, no matter how good you are at knife defence,. You are going to get cut. Running is the best option but so is reflex drills against realistic pressure attacks. I think a lot of wasted time is spent on unrealistic attacks that lead to the perfect disarm. We all know it isn't going to happen like that. I agree with you.

    There’s a whole lot of jiu jitsu types I do Brazilian and I don’t learn about strikes, but this is probably just another kind, either way I saw a few more ways to take someone down👍

    Once fought a black belt in taekwondo he struck, broke my Rib., He kicked dislocated my arm., Grappled and straddled my back unleashing punches on my neck. Fortunately I been workn as a trucker in place of forklifts had t unload trucks carrying 150 to 180klsmon my back. He hit me so hard on my neck he thought he had me then I rose up so fast caught him off guard and punched his jaw so bad he dropped and after lying down people stopped the fight(it was a "three o'clock high" thing and he was a bully) when he got up he was shaking involuntarily. He wnet home and wasn't able to go to school for three days unable to get up even. Best broken rib I ever had. Meanwhile I couldn't breathe properly for a month. He thought I'd stop after getting broken bones. Hell I worked for 2 dollars a day carrying stuff on my back. When you got paid two dollars on fourteen hour days a broken rib isn't as painfully as an empty stomach .

      Não não foi, mestre Helio Gracie aprendeu de seu irmão Carlos apenas o que Maeda lhe ensinou ou seja judo modificado já que tanto Sado Miako e Mitsudo Maeda eram ambos mestres de judo ... nenhum deles era mestre de Ju-jutsu tradicional japonês que é o que se mostra no vídeo a arte e Ju-jutsu japonês e não Jiu-jitsu brasileiro ou Bjj. .. O nosso Jiu-jitsu vem do judo mesmo que modificado já por Maeda mas era judo na sua essência. .. Ju-jutsu depois judo depois Jiu-jitsu e sambo as 2 saíram do Judo ...

    Jujitsu is an excellent art, if you are 5'6" and taller. Although I have seen 5'2" female black belts in Jujitsu that hold their own, but still they have to moodily certain moves. I am 5'2" and there is a lot I can use from Jujitsu and much I can not do because of my size. I teach AKJ-American Kenpo in Puyallup and women's self defense and I use movements that come out of jujitsu that the normal woman at even 4'11" can use. I have been practicing Kenpo since 1976. Yeah, old, but I still move ilke a young stud! Why?
    I credit my young physical movements to practicing Kenpo three times a week since 1974. It's excellent for self defense (if you add ground techniques that get's you off the ground quickly) and it's amazing for keeping your body movements youthful.
    Yours in Kenpo
    Sifu

      Robert Mc Dowell I’m 5’4” and 135lb. I’m not sure what other Jujitsu schools teach but we don’t use any techniques that the smallest person in our school wouldn’t be able to use on the biggest person in our school. Iv been several times to the Valente brothers school in Miami and they teach the same techniques we do. All very effective for a even a child. You should look into Valente Brother jujitsu. It’s pretty unique. Glad to hear you have found something that works for you though. Thank you for the comment and I appreciate and respect you!

    For some people who have this question,. Why do they tap their hands after they do the move. Whell, they tap their hands to let the person that they are working with that, they are done, or okay you got me.

    • @barrettokarate
      @barrettokarate 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is BJJ. It even says it at the beginning that they are affiliated with the Valente brothers. Three generations of the Valentes have trained with Helio Gracie himself. For whatever reasons they're spelling it jujutsu instead of jiu-jitsu.

      Original? These guys are doing Gracie jiu-jitsu not Japanese jujitsu. They're affiliated with the Valente family, who are almost family to the Gracies. Three generations of the Valantes have trained with Helio Gracie.

    Good video. Ignore all the B.S. criticism. There are plenty of close quarters combat instructors in law enforcement, the military, and corrections that teach similar knife & gun disarms and the backgrounds of those instructors vary equally from a variety of combat arts/martial arts. I can give you one example right of the bat... the guy was the director of the close quarters combat program for 20 years for the North Carolina State Patrol. He teaches some similar knife defenses and has used them for real in fights while on duty which few if any critics have. The obvious answer is to run or avoid the situation but what happens when you can't avoid it and it comes down to the attacker either stabbing you or you defending yourself? There is nothing at all wrong with teaching some edged weapon defenses or handgun defenses as long as it is understood that is the last and only option and if you don't act then you will 100% for sure get stabbed/cut/shot. Not everyone wants you to succeed and they will try to poke holes in what you and try to make what they do look better. In my mind the entire idea of making a video like this is to market/advertise/show what your school is about and hopefully increase your student base. Even those who are from entirely different backgrounds and do do what we do can see what you do is good and that trying to poke holes and criticize what you are doing isn't going to help you achieve your goals. Keep doing what you are doing, I really liked your video and hopefully you got at least a few students from it.

      紫のwisteria depends on what school you choose. If you can find and instructor that teaches jujitsu for self defense instead of for sport then Jujtisu is your best option.
