Good video. Good technique. Who cares in the comments about where the heck the traditions came from. If it helps one defend themself in a confrontation then all the training has been worth it. Even if one never has a fight then it's still been fun learning. Nuff said
I trained Wado-Ryu Karate and Mugendo KickBoxing but I have been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu the past couple of years and I find it more to my liking. I have to say when I was younger and training in Wado-Ryu there was a lot of wrist locks and sweeps but more striking and of course Kata , my favourite Kata was Kushenku . Kick-Boxing was great too but as I've gotten older I find BJJ more to my liking but this style is very interesting and I like what I see , Thank you for putting up this video...!! Mark G Dublin Ireland #BJJ #PurpleBelt #OSS 🙏🥋🤙🙂💚☘🕊
I trained in north star at kappeli tehdas in the late 90s for a few years. Highly recommend if you can find a class outside of Finland. There's a lot of stick fighting involved also which wasn't shown in this vid. Possibly the best martial art for self defence there is. Aivu is a great sensei. Can't believe how old he looks now, well so do I also, it was 25 years ago.
Wow... Really dynamic, high energy, powerfull! Great to watch...really Kishido! (missing a little Bushido, stillness, tranquility in this movie but still... wow!)
Guys I think this is epic. I train in Kombat JJ & bjj. I also spar with MMA fighters to develop my striking. This in my opinion is a true embracing of the hybrid art that jujitsu is. Is love to train there. Great stuff guys. Long may you continue #jujitsu #brotherhood
hexty82 I just was curious what these guys are actually training in? ok I know nothing about this, but I always thought there were mainly blocks locks and throws. But here these guys are doing strikes kicks weapons usage and all sorts of things I never thought associated with Jiu Jitsu. Is there a reason to train in Japanese Combat Jiu Jitsu and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
irish seaman you're correct there fella. The basis for traditional jujitsu is just that but it's a hybrid. Theoretically you can add what you want to it. Provided that you've got your core. You know? They must have a massive syllabus.
Great video. Very impressive. Iv been training Ju jitsu for a few years and am a second level brown belt. But i feel like a beginer again, after watching this. I have alot of very hard work to do, if i want to try and catch up with these guys.
Much like the old WJJF, this looks like a fine martial arts platform. There will be people branching off into flashy wushu, brutal combatives, trapping, soft techniques and competitive MMA, grappling and kickboxing but they will share a common syllabus, be able to follow whichever branch of the martial arts interests them and learn from one another. More power to them
This is good. You don't need Brazillian Jiujitsu when you learn this style. This style is based on dispatching your opponent as quickly as possible, which is what combat is all about. Jiujitsu was conceived to handle real combat that occurred in feudal Japan. Rolling around on the ground, like they do in Brazillian Jiujisu, would have been unheard of and counterproductive in real combat.
Tradicional Jujutsu it's a art of war ... until this day is one of the most complete fighting system in the world ... they train punches and kicks . They train to fight against one and more opponents, they train to fight armed opponents and they train to fight with knifes , sticks, Batts , and more weapons, they train to fight stand up and for ground fight the Jujutsu it's perfect for street fight no rules, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu it's different they ware made for sports with rules and it looks like more judo then Jujutsu even the no Gi match looks more judo them Jujutsu and that's fine cause each art must fit it's purpose , jiu-jitsu created for grappling and combat sports with excellent ground fighting in a control environment. Jujutsu it's an art of war made for kill or be killed and for self defense, street fighting, fight for your life no doubt that Jujutsu, tradicional Jujutsu is until today the best to help you in a confrontation with one or more attackers ... the Gracie, master Helio they learn traditional Japanese Jujutsu and they had to change it to today Bjj, because it wouldn't fit for sport because it's about killing and injury your opponent and in MMA or vale tudo , they couldn't use all the Jujutsu strength because it's not permitted you can not break a leg or a neck or an arm or even kill in a combat sports event so Helio change his Jujutsu to an art more suitable for what it is today a grappling art and very effective one ... but Jujutsu it's not for sport it's not pretty it's what it is an art of war made for self protection. ..that's all ... I do Shinobijutsu and Jujutsu to balance my body and skills mixing the 2 I cover ground fight and stand up fight, it have kicks and punches and locks and break techniques and the ninpo Taijutsu and ninpo strategy to respond what ever comes in my way and of course I train with fire warms the today weapons so , I try to have a better and more complete Bujutsu as I can. .. but that's me ... Be well . Train what ever fits you be prepared for what ever ... they are all good in the end it's about you and they way you train and that's it .. train , Learn, do something to help you kip on going ....
Trying to find the name of the guy that taught me in Grangemouth, Scotland, when I was 14, that school taught me a set of skills that has lasted a lifetime, the training was circa 1991-1994, if anyone knows who ran this dojo, please let me know, cheers.
Scooby Doo The things you're referring to as judo, karate and boxing are present in authentic Japanese Jujitsu. That doesn't necessarily mean some of these guys don't have backgrounds in any of those systems, but nothing in this video is inconsistent with traditional Jujitsu.
Scooby Doo If that's the case, it wouldn't surprise me. However, these moves in the video are still present in Japanese Jujitsu. It's a case, as it often is in martial arts, of techniques crossing over many different styles.
Hokutoryu is a modern style, which is compiled mostly from British jujutsu, boxing and Kickboxing. I quess whether it's real jujutsu depends from your definition of real jujutsu.
Moussa Ibn Al Hassan Japaneses Jujutsu and Aiki Jujutsu is the farther of Aikido and Judo. It went to Europe and Amerika and became Jujitsu. Judo went to Brazil and became Jiu-Jitsu
Karate was created EXACTLY in Okinawa. Jujutsu doesn't have all the strikes and blocks that are used in Karate. Because most of the strikes and blocks in Karate void the philosophy of Jujutsu in the first place. Jujutsu is combination of the principle of Ju and Aiki.
Depends on which jujutsu system your talking about. Many traditional jujutsu did have striking. Koppojutsu (one of the many styles that were slapped together to create jujutsu) was a striking system.
Well you guys are close....look at the Marshal art Tree!!!! bjj stems from judo....judo stems from CLASSICAL Japaneses Jujitsu(the KILLING art of the Samurai)....kickboxing stems from karate(as classical karate is a battlefield marshal art so kickboxing was made as a full contact form of karate) and karate stems from kung fu and classical Japaneses jujitsu......oh and most Korean style karate stems from Okinawan karate(witch is the birth place of karate)...I understand many of you didn't know this but most people dont look into the history of the style they are learning!! and then look at others to see what they have to offer you!! Oh and no i'm not saying ALL marshal arts stem from the Japaneses(as they don't...BUT this lot DO.....have a look guys!!
um karate came from China then to Okinawa and no most Korean arts do not come from Okinawa or Japan a lot of Korean arts have Chinese influence even Korean Buddhist are more closely to chinese Buddhist when it comes to chanting but martial arts you were wrong
sorry buddy but Karate is a mix of Japanese and Chinese and the Okinawans made it there own...look for a book called "Know Karate do"(writen in the 1960s-70s).....its a good book with EVERY original Karate style in it(its also Endorsed by 5 of the worlds leaders in Karate, at the time most of them where 4th dan and above , most are now 7th and above!) and 3 of them are Okinawan and agree that it is....sooo if they say it is then it is.....but i do find that you cant not say all arts forms stem from the same style as that would be crazy...I do believe that all arts have influenced each other over and over through thousands of years...but whos to say as no one can Reilly tell. Maybe we are both right or maybe both worng..!?
you had that wrong ,that karate part, hokutoryu ju-jutsu is full compat system for eny sitsuation.Hokutoryu is mean northenstar way of ju-jutsu,we respect old Japanese way in our dojo, our soke 9.dan Auvo Niiniketo has all so backround in kickboxing 5 dan ,karate champion and boxing champion as well.

wetterwille173 Not really. Karate is from Okinawa. Shotokan came to Japan fairly late in the game. Jujutsu arts tended to use more open hand techniques, strikes to the eyes, and so on to open space for weapon use or create kuzushi for throws. The throw was the finale, the strike just a method to get there. And the round kicks are relatively modern inventions, as are head kicks in general. Kicking with the top of the foot is also strictly a sport thing. But this doesn't look like karate technique either. Kickboxing, IMO.
doeper I TRAIN IN CLASSICAL YAGYU JUJUTSU AND WE NEVER KICK WITH THE TOP OF THE FOOT EASIEST WAY TO BREAK THAT FOOT AND TOES ALOT OF THESE TECHNIQUES ARE NOT INTENDED FOR STREET OR MULTIPLE ATTACKER SITUATIONS IE SPORTS
wetterwille173 OUS and Jujutsu is all weapon based I'm pretty sure empty hand was a very last resort but I had Tanbo my first day on the mat. That also helped me build up to Jo bo and boken. Also we do Rondori every class and itb really shows how bad I really suck 😂😂
Ok never mind i get your point, and by the way i train Jujutsu here in Macedonia and my teacher has trained Real Aikido before training Jujutsu, so we don't have influence from Karate, and... unlike most other countries instead of training 3-4 years for a black belt you need to train 7-8 years for one. And we use strikes during our techniques that are obviously the same as those used in Karate.
Lovely to see people fighting in natural circumstances (with robust clothing on). The UFC would have us believe, its natural to have virtually no clothes on in a fight. Would Ronda Rousy have lost to Holly Holm if they had been wearing street clothing that could be grabbed? You guys are keeping it real. Is there a schooling New Zealand I wonder?
Il nome hokuto mi piace perché accomunato al mitico ken il guerriero e vi dirò che io penso che la divina scuola di hokuto sia proprio una scuola di jujutsu antica ok . Bello il jujutsu bella arte marziale
Jujutsu (in the west known as Jiu Jitsu or Ju Jitsu because the original Japanese way of writing it was uncommon to westerners I believe) is a Budo (ぶど) sport. Karate & Judo are ぶど sports. Aikido and Tai Jutsu are ぶど sports. Kendo is a ぶど sport. Why do people on the internet always make those statements as if one martial art stole techniques from another... It’s something around those lines that I’m reading in this comment section once again... My comment doesn’t do anything good but I just felt like posting it pff come on everybody, it’s all Japanese Budo, it’s not as if they added Kung Fu in here like someone else stated in this comment section😂
Un style de jiu- jiutsu sacrement efficasse , mais davantage destine aux tatamis : pas assez de sol , de boxes angglaise et thai . Bonne souplesse, bon oeil , coordinations . Ce n'est pas ca que j' employerais pour la rue.
nice video. I have a question: is JUJUTSU and JUI JITSU same technics or different? Also i saw a video QUANTUM JUI JITSU, almost different or same thinks? Thank you in advance for the answers of the experts.
Being that Jujutsu is a Japanese word/Martial art. It needs to be a Japanese Martial Art. Then it also needs to follow the philosophy of the word principles/philosophy of "Ju"
I know this is a demo video, but do schools never train for application. Look at the uke's, as soon as they finish their swing they just stand there and wait for the technique. You'll learn nothing from that.
+Jammsbro I've been teaching karate and jujitsu for many years. I have often heard people say something similar to your comment. It is a reasonable challenge. Firstly, multiple combos after an attack are often for drill purposes. The chances of pulling off 4 strikes, a kick and then finishing with a lock or throw in the street, are remote but practiced as a drill, you are more likely to become 'unconsciously competent' at doing it. The second point is that with all techniques, you work on the principle of 'predicted response'. Yes, your opponent is not just going to stand there, but in the street (unlike the dojo) you would have actually smacked them in the mouth or kneed them in the balls or elbowed them in the ribs!! In effect, once you've done that (assuming it done well) they are more likely to be 'at your mercy'. In essence, you are taking away their ability to fight back. Finally you practice all techniques but a good smack in the mouth and knee/kick to the groin is difficult to beat. Oss
+mauno hietala By the looks of this they are learning solely mat techniques. If you spar you know that almost all of what they are learning here will end up unsed and is fact useless.
+mauno hietala Aye, I see that, but their training is pants. Look at 0:45 the uka just atands there while the other guy handles him. No resistance, no force to counter, nothing. Not even motion to allow the defender to figure out his own movement due to changes. None of this works. I've seen this type of training all over and it it does is teach people to believe that they are learning actual self defense when all they are learning is how to perform techniques on a mat.
I used to do this, then went to a kickboks gym and got my ass kicked for 6 months. Then changed to kickboksing for 3 years or so and tried BJJ....then got my ass kicked at bjj for 2 years. Now I stick with BJJ and kick everyone's ass except those who got their asses kicked longer than I have.
@@badungus1333 Karate does not come from jujutsu. Karate originated from a bunch of Okinawan and Chinese martial arts. Hokutoryu is one of those modern schools that threw everything they knew together. It's basically a blend of kickboxing, karate, judo and aikido.
This style really does cover everything in martial arts. Very nice!
Very good example of classic jujitsu for this new age. OSu.
Good video. Good technique. Who cares in the comments about where the heck the traditions came from. If it helps one defend themself in a confrontation then all the training has been worth it. Even if one never has a fight then it's still been fun learning. Nuff said

In effect, once you've done that (assuming it done well) they are more likely to be 'at your mercy'. In essence, you are taking away their ability to fight back. Finally you practice all techniques but a good smack in the mouth and knee/kick to the groin is difficult to beat. Oss
most hjj schools train sparring with or without boxing gloves almost in almost every training session
+mauno hietala By the looks of this they are learning solely mat techniques. If you spar you know that almost all of what they are learning here will end up unsed and is fact useless.
+Jammsbro they are just training single moves on this video, and most of these techniques are used while sparring like the throws locks and kicks
Now I stick with BJJ and kick everyone's ass except those who got their asses kicked longer than I have.
how would u take down a guy that's heavier and taller?
Cuddy With technic
I think it's mostly using there momentum
Ask them nicely to lay down.
Look more like a kind of karate or Japanese Kempo than traditional Jujutsu
It's actually the other way around. Judo and karate come from jiu jitsu
@@badungus1333 Karate does not come from jujutsu. Karate originated from a bunch of Okinawan and Chinese martial arts.
Hokutoryu is one of those modern schools that threw everything they knew together. It's basically a blend of kickboxing, karate, judo and aikido.
Where's sparing?
They don’t spar lol..
@@imnotsure3334 Ju-jutsu has had sparring and competition since the 60’s... Look up IJJF.
For your consideration Hollywood.
