always nice to see pods so full they overwhelm the sorting tray
This is just to help you but what the catch the crabs in is called a pot there is no need to worry common mistake 😊😊
Rest in Peace Nick Mavar...Id be proud to of had you as a deckhand on my tub...
87k for each deckhand fucking hell that's some serious coin...
I think northwestern n maverick pulled 130k to 105k per deck hand few seasons straight
For which season and for how long?
It’s a dangerous game but it’s a game where everyone wins big
@@jaspercurtis7868Exactly,the risks aren't worth the reward and a bunch of them guys don't make it back home or quit after not long out there and how long of a season did it take to make that?
@@LONEWOLF-rq5tl yeah always wondered how long they are out for. 2 - 3 months for 80 - 100k is well worth the hellish conditions. A year at a time IDK about that.
It really ticks me off when people say oh they're destroying the environment, when they are the ones that really protect the environment
Protecting the environment? How so?
I thought this would be boring, but honestly pretty exciting. I'm a landlover.
It's land lubber lol
This show is still on for a reason lol
@@drewbocopnot only brings awareness to the crab fisheries but also the dangerous job these guys do just to put crab on our plate. I have nothing but respect for these guys
6:25 gathering that rope around your arm is dangerous AF.
Totally agreed with ya, was about to say it, then I saw the size of the pots on the boat at that time. Not a good excuse by any means, but a hell of a lot better than hand-coiling a pot that's 700lbs
We have a great crab fishery on the east coast of canada prices should soar this spring with their fishery cancelled. I pray ours holds out and does not go the way of our Northern cod.
Love the show.
The whole reason why they have quotas each year is to make sure that they don't fish to Extinction
Also size requirements
As it is with every other hunting season
This hasn’t aged well 😂😂 seasons closed cause numbers are so low
Crustations, not fish
@@oriongallagher1427it has nothing to do with these guys though, it's from warm water temperatures. I love how people can be so cocky and completely wrong at the same time.😂
Nice to see their friends again
Yea the most regulated fishing in the world they control every aspect of the season and they watch how much is taken so to say to extinction is a bit drastic
Crab meat has to be one of my favorite foods. I know its a bad idea if i went fishing for them because I'd want to eat one.
I truly wonder what dogs secrets are because every year he always hits things right on the money consistently year in year out
The Northwestern win every time.
Back on the Bering see to catch opies, right? Is this after the red crab cancellation? Is it just older season opie fishing? Either way they found the bioherd.!
Hell yeah !!
S3 Time Bandit. Save a life, the ocean rewards you
Lol and that’s why they ain’t fishing crab this year lol
No it's not u don't know shit bud🤣
Fish and game don't know how to take a real quota
74 grand. Wow
What year was this? Why don't they tell you?
They fishing for gold in them there waves
We can’t empty the oceans. Mother Nature is too vast and powerful enough.
Didn't they cancel this last season of crabbing?
Tell that to the Cod...... exploitation is what humans do best, not enough foresight, all about the money.
You forgot what the TIME BANDIT did after they saved that man's life in season three. They started catching numbers of Red King Crab that made them legends.
We are all waiting for your return...
This mob need an air operayed thrower to catch the pods
Better lucky (in the case of Mandy), than good.
They don't show these guys drug dealers. 😂😂😂
I thought they shut down red king and snow crab fishing for 2022-2023, unless these aren’t snows.
i think these are opelio and dungeness .
@@pappy451 nice!
74 gram wow
WONT BE THIS SEASON.... CLOSED!!!
Oare cât să mai țină și oceanele...și locurile de unde persuiti? Se scot anual 500.000 tone de fructe de mare...
I could not do this job. This looks like it's a demanding job.
Very demanding...
Amphetamines are prevalent out there on the high seas...
Actually you're better off without them but either way it is a very demanding job ...one had to be able to dig deep...
The payoff is worth it
And the show makes it look easier. Because of editing. It skips past the endless hours of grinding.
Ever notice no one from Washington has crap to say about a longtime Alaskan saying how it is??????????
I worked on a lobster boat in NY / RI / CT back in the 1970’s. Toughest job I ever had. But, I was making $20 / hr in 1973 = $134 / hr today. We never had a 1st Mate like Mendy, tho. HOTCHA!!
Because noone know hard work or wants to do the shit ones (tough conditions or dirty work an shifts) ie good money
Today I mean not back then haha men were men not snow flakes
@@adammitchell7403 theres still some of us young guys that work there ass off im a ground man for a operator company We do anything from septic's to driveways to House pads and i work my ass off under a excavator 98% of the day 10 12 hour days
4:15...is that...Jake Harris...?
Registering a harvest is not a crime.
Do they really count how many crabs...i dont think so. Its about weight.
It would be a helluva nice season that year to get an $87,000 paycheck, that's IF you make it back home alive.
70% of those pots were throwback. To young & females that are not keeper's
That many people pushing that many crab no way can they get a good count
The Real Treasure Hunters has a NEW CHANNEL ☠🏝👉🏻www.youtube.com/@TheRealTreasureHunters26
It's not hard to catch these crabs. Discovery makes it all dramatic. Half the time these guys are inside the boat waiting..
You don't know what you're
talking about. Years ago for
5 years I fished the Bering Sea
crab fishery and what you see is what you get you're just an
anal orifice.

As a longtime Alaskan resident, got no respect for Seattle boats reaping off our Alaskan res! Simple!
Why would I eat an animal that literally survives off dead matter fromnthe bottom of the ocean? Wonder why humans have cancer? I don't.
Yeah that's not how cancer works
This show is pro-fishing propaganda.
Our oceans are in danger, and all commercial fishing needs to stop. No Salmon, crab, octopus, or anything.
american fishermen follow some of the strictest quotas in the world, look abroad for your problems
@@chamonix4658 Not true. The crab and sturgeon populations along the California coast are down by 90%. Salmon populations are down by 95%. Same with Tuna. And yet the fishing continues.
As Americans, we can’t “look abroad” unless we’re willing to lead by example. No more ocean fishing. It’s impossible to find a political solution, because the entire process is controlled by money. The Mob does whatever it wants.
Fishing boats must be removed from the water. And all the roads, dams, and
obstacles that encroach upon Salmon migration must be removed.
It’s not just about the fish: It’s also about us: Are we adults?
I need my Salmon and calamari
Something you need to consider is that for some, fishing is their only source of income and livelihood. In Alaska, aside from the big cities to the southeast, many towns and villages can't get imported goods because it's too expensive. So in order to survive, they have to fish and hunt for their own food.
@@TimberlakeTigerGirl Well said! And you’re right, for some groups fishing is an economic necessity.
So when discussing what might be called a “Global Protective Order” for the oceans, we’re “supposed” to balance the needs of some people; against the needs of others. But that’s not the correct way way to look at the problem.
This might seem cruel, but there’s a fact: Not everyone who exists has a right to exist. If a child is born out of
place, then he has no claim to life. If an old man has reached the age of eighty, then he has no further claim to life.
The Middle East has millions of savage uneducated refugees who simply wander from one place to another. India has half a billion “almost-refugees.” Same with China and Brazil.
Don’t romanticize the cruelty of bringing too many kids into the world. It’s a moral crime.
So when discussing fishing villages, it’s the same as discussing Rainforest villages, or Galapagos Island villages. The “smallness” or “authenticity” of the group is of no importance. It’s the ecological destruction they cause which matters. In South America they destroy the rainforest and then plant Palm Oil farms as if that’s an ecological solution. It’s not. The only ecological solution is to reduce Earth’s population to three billion people; and to evacuate ecologically important regions. The groups who currently occupy territories covered by the Global Protective Order can’t be moved to another location. They can only be euthanized.
And that job can done with complete moral authority.
Saving the Earth, and preserving nature for the sake of our children is a sacred duty. We must kill five billion people if our planet is to survive. It doesn’t matter if they live in a big city or a small village. So there’s no reason to discuss anything with anyone. Saving the Earth isn’t a political process. It’s a moral absolute.
The real world documentary about driving a species to extinction from over fishing.
Have you actually seen how strict the quota is for the fleet!
You are a MORON! The overfishing is done by the Russians and Chinese! AMERICA has quota limits that are strictly enforced!
@@genehasenbuhler2594 Yea, they don't contribute to the problem at all. You're totally right.
@@cornelionsqween8028 have you ever worked in this industry? If not then you have no clue! I have! Regulation started in the late 70's. Since then standards are strictly enforced to the point that over 80% of the original fleet no longer exists! But you go on spreading your bullcrap- your the expert in that field for sure!

No wonder the fisheries are in trouble greed at its finest.
the american crabbers they follow strict quotas, look at russia who fish without them they are doing damage
@chamonix well quotas don't mean shit if the numbers are to low.its always the same blame somebody else.wipe out one species after another.
@@nickanderson8938the season is canceled for the year. You can chill tf out. Fishing boats care more about the oceans than anything you’ve done about it
@codyharder571 bullshit in the charter bussiness for over 30 years.travelled and fished from nova scotia to Southern Caribbean great lakes Alaska to Panama.holder of 100 ton masters ticket.we always run spotless boats lots of ice we limit the amount of fish we keep and properly release the rest.you got a lot to learn little boy.
It really ticks me off when people say oh they're destroying the environment, when they are the ones that really protect the environment
hunters are conservationists, same thing here
😅😅😅😅oo😅o9ooooooooooooo99ooo5😅😅😅😅
I mean the season is closed because the population has collapsed...this hasn't aged well
It’s business. If they do protect the environment, it’s because they have to. It’s not their primary motivation by a long way.
meaning they're protecting the environment by not allowing it to be overfished......@@jonant8317
