I'd wait on the docks and see if they would hire a very green greenhorn. Of course you'd have to have the funds to make such a trip and hang around the docks. If you get on board, if you can't handle it, they put you on a lifeboat with one paddle. Good Luck!

Lol that’s nothing. 15k a month is barely worth it. I’ve been fishing 14 years and counting.
By the time you take taxes out, look at the hours you’ve put in/the time your not home with your family. 15k is like low low low.
Not too mention you have to work your way up. Your better off staying home and not wasting anyone’s time

How do the deckhands know how many crabs are in the pot to relay to the captain? And don't tell me "they count them." I know that dumb asses. But I don't see a whole lot of counting going on when they're sifting through a pile of crab on the sorting table.
how is this a sustainable industry ?? think about the sheer number of fish, crab, lobster, etc being harvested every single day all over the world...relenlessly. one day soon, the oceans will be fished out..and then soon after become totally lifeless...Glad I won't be around to witness that
Because fish and crab, lobster all reproduce haha, just like when they cut trees down to build houses, trees grow back, and they have biologists that monitor the catch and make sure we aren’t overfishing. Like in Bristol bay they won’t let anyone fish until they have enough salmon that have escaped up the river so they can spawn
Have you ever been in the sea? Your opinion sounds like the ones saying we are running out of land to live in lol just drive through a state , yes the world is probably not infinite but just sail deep sea and you will see how immense the world is bro , land is huge and is just 1/3 of oceans.
each species of crab season is only a week or couple weeks long.. the fisheries are *very* tightly regulated
