My answer to this video would be no cuz, I'm much more appealed to the Cliffjumper that he never dies, one of the smallest autobots & is a red clone/version of Bumblebee & I think he & Bumblebee would make a fine duo. What would you think?
To answer the first question is probably to implement a simple simple psychological trick. since he resembles bumblebee in a lot of continuities (and general audiences would see him as a red bumblebee) and bumblebee is the go-to kid appeal character, they can use his death for the shock value to get a similar reaction to killing bumblebee without the backlash and the bad marketing move of actually killing bumblebee. As for the recolouring, hey developing toys isn't that cheap considering the complexity of some of the lines, so if you can use almost the same parts and moulds for 2 figures you've halved the price (or significantly reduced if one is obviously more popular than the other) of developing that single figure. This leads to said character being more tempting to implement in future series or have more attention as they are going to be made into multiple products. Starsceam and the seekers are in a similar situation.
@@julyleonard Well, it’s hard to tell but, at least in the original G1 figures, they are two different models of car from two different manufacturers. To me, that makes them very different and not a “repaint” at all.
@RodimusPrimal Cliffjumper is a Porsche 911. Not a 924 like stated in the video. The 924 has its engine in the front of the car while the 911 and the Beetle have engines behind the rear axle making them rear-engined cars (Not to be confused with mid-engine cars like the Porsche Cayman). Not trying to nitpick you, I’m just a Gearhead trying to help out with the details.
I just assumed that the reason why Cliffjumper died in the bumblebee movie, was because the bumblebee movie seems to call back to multiple previous transformers series for the sake of nostalgia, as we see many of the G1 inspired designs in majority of the other transformers besides bumblebee, who is designed based off of the Michael Bay bumblebee, and then there were multiple other things, I don’t remember what other things I found to be calling back to the transformers prime series, but I just figured that Cliffjumper dying in the beginning of the movie in the hands of the Deceptacon‘s was really a call back to that for all the transformers prime fans who are watching the movie. Maybe there's a parallel universe where Cliffjumper skyrocketed in popularity due to the movies and has been a prominent character in Transformers mythos ever since with his own solo movie and Bumblebee is the re-color.
In Transformers Prime, the show was on a strict budget. They hired Dwane the Rock Johnson to be the voice actor, which became too expensive for them, so they had to cut Cliffjumper out because of it. That unfortunitly was the only reason he was killed. We at least got another flashback episode with Cliffjumper, that time with a different voice actor.

I really wished that Cliffjumper didn't die in Prime because he was one of the rare occasions where his body wasn't a bumblebee repaint. I would say that it was wasted potential.
you have no idea how sad i was to see cliffjumper dies first in both prime and the bumblebee film cause i always loved him thanks to the g1 series i really wanted to see more fleshed out vertions of his character in the show and films
Cliffjumper is one of my favourite Transformers. It sucks that he died in Prime and Bumblebee. I was so happy to see him in live action though. I think he was at his best in Fall of Cybertron.
Considering we’re watching a great video on Cliffjumper, I would say he’s alive and well. I do get tired of “red Bumblebee “ but sometimes one slips through that has its charm.
I'd love to see a modern Cliffjumper that'd still have the same basic transformation scheme, but transforms into a realistically proportioned Porsche 924 Turbo, with the robot mode proportions to match.
I have to say, I sorta wanted to see more of Cliffjumper’s paranoid moments. Other than his headstrong attitude that gets him into trouble, his paranoia of traitors among the Autobots made him distinct from the others, especially Bumblebee
It hasn't become a reoccurring thing to kill off Cliffjumper since Prime, That was his second death ever, and that was in 2010, he didn't die again until Transformers Unicron and Transformers Bumblebee in 2018, so for 8 years Cliff was fine, out of all the Transformers characters he still has one of the lowest death rates across continuities
I know you probably know already, but just in case you don't, he's getting a G1 accurate figure, equipped with the rocket launcher he tried to hit Megatron with, in Earthrise, and it's a new mold, no red Bumblebee in sight.
Cliffjumper was killed by Decepticons in both Transformers Prime and Bumblebee movie. The toy was discontinued in 86, but he and Jazz survived in Transformers the movie. Casey Kasem RIP.
If you want to talk about characters who frequently die, how about the comic books' version of Mirage? He was "deactivated in the U.S Marvel comic series, finally being revived during the battle with Unicron. He was later shot dead in the G2 series, and killed again in the IDW series, "More Than Meets The Eye".
I noticed how all this started because Cliff died in media that's more well known and had large fanbases, like TFP, the IDW Unicron comics, and the Bumblebee movie. Same deal with Blurr because of his infamous death in TFA, and later on in Cyberverse as both shows have huge fanbases. The same thing with Oppy and Starry, like we remember their deaths more easily if it came from a popular show or comic. Just my observation. Though Blurr in TFA actually came back to life in a comic. I really hope both characters can make it through a cartoon just to put this meme to rest.
Love this video, one of the most underrated characters of the franchise and I would have to hear Casey Caseum do Cliff Jumper voice on last time before his passing
I like to imagine there's an alternate timeline where Cliffjumper is the most marketable transformer and has his own movie. Meanwhile, Bumblebee is just known as "that yellow transformer who dies all the time..."
Yeah but Cliffjumper only dies twice... Prime and Bumblebee. Other than that he's alive and well in every continuity whether it's comic book or cartoon from 1984-1999
Cliffjumper was one of my fav ever since he had that huge sniper gun aimed at Megatron from the first G1 episode. He was always that little badass who had the balls to take on any Decepticons even though he'd get his ass kicked.
Cliffjumper is my favorite Transformer. Dunno why. I just really liked his Movie toy I had in 2007. Maybe it’s because I watched some of the g1 show after I watched the 2007 movie. I really wished that Cliffjumper didn't die in Prime because he was one of the rare occasions where his body wasn't a bumblebee repaint. I would say that it was wasted potential.
Cliffjumper is one of my absolute favorites and is so underrated, he deserves way better than the fate that is always cast to him.
Especially as of late. G1 Cliffjumper is still around bending Decepticon metal.
@@RodimusPrimalI had the yellow version of him. I think it is a continously intentional slap in the face to Casey Kasem
rest in peace, Casey Kasem, we all miss you.
Cliffjumper is one of my favorite Autobots, wished he lived longer.
His one of my favorite characters to.
Same, cuz my favorite is the G1/Classics version even as a clone of Bumblebee.
you have no idea how sad i was to see cliffjumper dies first in both prime and the bumblebee film cause i always loved him thanks to the g1 series i really wanted to see more fleshed out vertions of his character in the show and films
Cliffjumper is one of my favorite Autobots, he is currently the number one video on my channel! Thank you for making this!
Cliffjumper is one of my favourite Transformers. It sucks that he died in Prime and Bumblebee. I was so happy to see him in live action though. I think he was at his best in Fall of Cybertron.
I think Cliff deserves more love, we need The Rock to voice him again for a series with cliff as the main character
@HaLOPLaYER M6G You mean Nolan North? Id take him too
Nolan North is awesome as Cliffjumper voice in Fall of Cybertron.
@@omegaus817 I think hes the best one personally
I doubt The Rock would accept it.
@@VicEntity Why not? He does tons of voices wouldn't he be thrilled to be a main character?
In the Bumblebee movie when Cliffjumper died it should have been some other random all Autobot Trooper
Hey atleast the skybound is still keeping cliffjumper alive so there is some redemption for cliffjumper
It hasn’t always been the case. Since when did cliffjumper become the Cybertronian Kenny 🤷🏽♂️
Optimus Prime is cybertronian kenny.
@@gamingguru2k6 so is jazz
Cybertronian Sniper that would be dirge. Or at least the Kenny of the decepticons
I think that since he survived in G1, that matters more than any other series.
I definitely! Agree it should matter more than any other series.
we need a war for Cybertron siege cliffjumper figure!
Well need a bumblebee first
Ratbat 1986 fucked up😂😂
We can get it repainted as bumblebee, justice
I know you probably know already, but just in case you don't, he's getting a G1 accurate figure, equipped with the rocket launcher he tried to hit Megatron with, in Earthrise, and it's a new mold, no red Bumblebee in sight.
Yes
Man this guy can never catch a break
Whenever you show clips from the '86 movie, it warms my heart. Besides the memories, the animation was AWESOME!
Cliffjumper was killed by Decepticons in both Transformers Prime and Bumblebee movie. The toy was discontinued in 86, but he and Jazz survived in Transformers the movie. Casey Kasem RIP.
The guy's been in a rut.....but let's talk about Dirge dying a lot lol.
How bout Jazz
@@capkhi5070 what about megatron
@@redneckwithahippiebeard8624 what about about...Ratchet?
Optimus Prime has died more times than anyone. 23 times to be exact if you count the video games.
No, starscream died the most
8:00 Classics Cliffjumper is the inspiration for the anime SSSS.GRIDMAN's Yuta Hibiki, the main protagonist.
Why does he die all the time? He's a red shirt!
Yoy mean red chasis
Lol.... From now we should called Bumblebee as Captain Bee 😏 maybe cliffjumper should painted in blue as science officer or doctors 😂😂😂
I dont even watch Star Trek and I got the joke
Perhaps if he got a repaint he wouldn't die all the time
@@bozo0727 He was joking as well idiot
Now, its his time to shine in the Skybound Transformers Comics! Bumblebee died tho :(
If count he's death is in prime and in idw comics and bubblebee movie no he don't always die.he's one of my favorite autobot characters
Cliff jumper dies just as frequentley as bumblebee loses his voice
If you want to talk about characters who frequently die, how about the comic books' version of Mirage? He was "deactivated in the U.S Marvel comic series, finally being revived during the battle with Unicron. He was later shot dead in the G2 series, and killed again in the IDW series, "More Than Meets The Eye".
I really liked how different bumblebee and cliffjumper were In prime personlity wise and design wise, it's such an shame he died
Transformers media: *exists*
Cliffjumper: “guess I’ll die”
Love this video, one of the most underrated characters of the franchise and I would have to hear Casey Caseum do Cliff Jumper voice on last time before his passing
I like to imagine there's an alternate timeline where Cliffjumper is the most marketable transformer and has his own movie.
Meanwhile, Bumblebee is just known as "that yellow transformer who dies all the time..."
Yeah but Cliffjumper only dies twice... Prime and Bumblebee. Other than that he's alive and well in every continuity whether it's comic book or cartoon from 1984-1999
The voice of Shaggy, Cliffjumper is a legend
Do you recon Matthew Lillard (Shaggy's current voice actor) should do Cliffjumper (Similar to his G1 counterpart)?
@@julyleonard HELL YEAH!
Information again...
Bro , you are such a genius ! Thanks for the info. And Quality content !!!
:)
Cliffjumper was one of my fav ever since he had that huge sniper gun aimed at Megatron from the first G1 episode. He was always that little badass who had the balls to take on any Decepticons even though he'd get his ass kicked.
Yes, Cliffjumper dies three times in the IDW comic, Transformers prime and Bumblebee. But he deserves another spotlight of his G1.
Cliffjumper + Jazz = 🤜🤛
Brothers from another Cyber-mother.
I consider Cliffjumper and 7:47 Beachcomber as separate Autobots.
Cliffjumper is my favorite Transformer. Dunno why. I just really liked his Movie toy I had in 2007. Maybe it’s because I watched some of the g1 show after I watched the 2007 movie. I was really excited when I heard he’d be in Bumblebee, but we saw what happened. Anyways, thanks for making this video
“Omg! They killed cliffjumper!” “You basterds!”
Only legends get the reference and the joke.
Wow! I was literally just thinking I hadn't seen a Rodimus Primal video pop up lately! My man delivers promptly!
Off topic: I was also thinking if they haven't made a "Universal Greeting" version of Kup or Hotrod yet, they should! It just needs to come with a little energon goody dispenser.
It took me longer than I expected to finish. I had to rewrite a few things during, plus I had a few family events to handle. Glad you enjoyed it!
@@RodimusPrimal I enjoy all of your videos. Thank you, sir!
How has your Walmart been treating you lately? Mine is STILL completely bare other than the $50 G1 Optimus cabin. As far as I know, they have only received 1 shipment of Siege. And all I saw of that is the Hound I picked up. There are so many toys I want from this line but I MUST have that Ironhide!
-Oh my Primus, they killed Cliffjumper!
-You, bastards!
The whole Cliffjumper always dies is just a joke, Same with Blurr. I don't think anyone says it seriously.
What OP and Starscream? They died all the time too.
You the one to talk
Starscream killed Cliff...Wait STARSCREAM
Grrrrrrr (don't take this seriously)
Didn't you kill him a few times?
This is my favorite Video from Rodimus Primal. I don’t know why but I think it’s because it’s about Cliffjumper
I hope both Bumblebee and Cliffjumper get new toys in the Transformers Siege toyline.
Yes that's what i've been expecting for both of them
"Unfortunately along with many other major mistakes made in the show..."
Overtop clip of cars driving *ON* space!
Abolutely perfect clip choice😂
I love Ciffumper! I hate how they just make red Bumblebees! He deserves a red Proper Figure. I hope the next Master piece of Siege, gives us a REAL version of the character!
Why does this type of thing fascinate me so much? Lol, great vids as always dude, many thanks
It’s sad, because I’m the biggest fan of cliffjumper
Stinger vs cliffjumper
Who is the true red bumblebee
Edit:yay i been ❤️ by youtuber
Cliffjumper
Jacob Rayne mercado Yup!
Cliff
He wasn't a red Bumblebee to begin with, but he's become one in recent years.
His original toy was a Bumblebee repaint so he pretty much was a repaint from the start

when i was little we went to ham radio fests. we always saw penny racers there. we didnt see them in our area. only at those fests for awhile. we noticed the Penny Racer tires and the Bumblebee and Cliffjumper XFMRS tires were the same.
Carbombya? Yes, I love G1 even more now. Offensive?? Not in the golden age of the eighties.
@@gircakes Look at it from a white perspective and how you're vilified in everything these days for your past crimes against humanity. This was Casey Kasem's beef from the Arab perspective.
man the Unicron trilogy is QUALITY, it's like they didn't care.
Yeah, I think it was the combination of rushed dub work, production, and many instances of mis-translations. XD energon ehh, I'm mixed on it, but enjoy the unicron trilogy overall. Armada and cybertron were fun and had a ton of rad designs!
Well,at least in Bumblebee he didn't get killed by Starscream for the third time.

Optimus prime:CLIFFJUMPER!!!

Ah-hah! I knew it was going to be Cliffjumper! Either him or Brawn. Ironhide's already been done . . . right?
Anyway, it is frustrating that they can't keep his character on screen for more than five minutes. I want to see future movies and series where the Bumblebee film is just a spin-off, its own stand-alone film, so Cliffjumper can return and get more screen time and character development like in G1. I really hate the way Hasbro and its affiliates work nowadays. But who would voice him now?
Why would anyone give a thumbs down to anyone of these videos? This was a great video. Very informative..
You come through again! This was on my list of videos requested, amazing work. Just become a patron now. I love gen 1 and have a bunch of things I wondered. Like how 2 robots could be brothers ala Sunstreaker and Sideswipe. What do you think?
I like what Cliffjumper's death was used for in Prime, introducing the concept of Terrorcons to us at that moment.
