I own one. We drove from Dallas to Seattle, to Los Angeles(on the coast) with the whole family. Car is amazing to drive, supremely quiet and comfortable. Best car I ever had so far!
I have had my BMW IX now for over a year. I really love it. It might be the best automobile that I have ever had.
I might be in minority in my opinion but i absolutely love the design of the iX.
I think it is fine. It's smaller on the road than other large SUVs. The interior is really nice IMO.
I like it. Especially in this color combo. I wish Micah and family could take a multi-day road trip for real world range and charge times.
I just love Evie. “Getting up to Middle Speed is important to me” Evie is driving the EV. 😅

My car has capacitive buttons. When I accidentally rest my right hand down from holding the steering wheel, random functions get pressed simultaneously. *&^$%&^#*%&.

The body of this car puts a hurtin' on my vision (even in the nice red color shown here). The interior is very sharp tho. The Muzio's are great, as usual. 😊

One of the few cars anywhere where you can opt for a "wool" interior. Coziest interior choice ever - wish Tesla offered that!
If you are able to customize the sound it makes, I would totally add and play Micah's guitar riffs every time I accelerate :D But, I am with Evie on how much this car costs.
I own one. Oxide Grey exterior. Distinctive looking. Rides great. I have 2 years of free charging at Electrify America. I would be very disappointed if I had to pay for charging as it is expensive. Gasoline is cheaper.

Nothing that I can think of. Minor quibble - I have it set to lock automatically when I walk away from the vehicle. It will lock even if you leave your keys inside the car. Can't think of any other complaints.@@myemailiscool
I disagree with the statement "gasoline is cheaper". In GA, special EV rates during the lowest cost period (11p-7a, while I'm sleeping) allow me to fully charge, e.g. from 20% to 85%, for just under $1. Yes, $1! So charging up every 4-5 days means, at most, I'm paying $6. Do the math....
I was referring to gasoline being cheaper than charging at a public charger. Charging at home is always cheaper. But not everyone has a home charger. And if you go for a long trip, you have to use an expensive external charging system.

I won one and I’m in love with the loook. Stormbay metallic is the the best.
If you use carplay/AA you can access the Nav/phone/media with the top three buttons on the middle console and use the center wheel to scroll.
BMW option packages keep changing with the iX50/60. Air suspension/rear steer/DAP are the major features I would get. The automated lane keeping/cc is very good and comes with the DAP.
I don’t like the crystal features but the wood panel is a big improvement over piano black. The wood adds texture so you can feel the buttons without looking down.

In defence of the Hans Zimmer tracks... my kids always want fart sounds in the Telsa. So it's still more mature than that!
They just need to fix the grille. The headlights are fine, the propotions are fine, the interior is gorgeous, and the front end is... not ok. :) I'm 8 min in waiting for news about the range...

I admire BMW designers for sticking with the "front nuts" design for the fake grill even though few like it, and they had a large canvas to do anything they wished. Vordere Muttern uber alles!

A terrible thing to say, but the forward looking rear 3/4 view (like at 17:56) is distinctly Chevy Bolt. I know, a horrible comparison, but the iX really does have far too many styling cues shared with the Bolt.
Somehow, I feel I wont be seeing to many of these on the road.
I actually like the new BMW grill. but looks like they might be shying away from it.
Thoughts on retiring “family friendly”? If the answer is always “family friendly!” it may not be relevant.

I’m just trying to understand why this vehicle had to be so distinctively unattractive 😬😬. It’s frumpy, it has the iconic love it or hate it beaver teeth grille, and it’s just odd for no reason. The interior is nice though, minus that screen that’s just sitting on the dash with that support structure near the passenger side. Great review as always Micah!

It's because it has the best coefficient of drag of pretty much anything with a fat butt like this.
It's one of the better-looking BMW models. Or should that be less bad looking.
Super interesting car, great performance, versatility, etc. High tech back-up feature, neat navigation system, great car sounds, and typical overkill infotainment that should be automatically pared down to basics when the passenger?copilot seat is empty. After that: apparently the switchgear design and ergonomics intern was not being supervised during the iX development. Likewise, whoever suggested and got approval for the rectangular steering wheel a: does not actually drive cars or b: is unaware that this was tried (and failed) iby Gabriel Voisin (1922), Chrysler (1960-1964), British Leyland in the Allegro with the super name "quartic" (1972-1974), and a Honda show car in 2017. Surely there have been others that withered away in ignomy. F1 and Indy cars seem to be the only automotive place where square steering "wheels" seem to stick. Gutsy move BMW!

The look of the iX is growing on me. That grill though, if they could make it 25% smaller or color match it to the paint so it was visually less massive. Case and point I think the iX looks better in darker colors.
I agree with you! At first I thought only a mother would love a face like that. Now it has grown on me. I’m not given much of a choice in San Diego as I see one almost every day!

I'd hate to say it but, this does NOT look like an SUV. The lines actually resemble that of a minivan.
If they had the courage to actually make it as functional as a true minivan, they would really have something bold and practical. As is, they chose to go bold with the square steering "wheel", a design that has been created and failed over and over again since at least 1922.

I actually wouldn't mind that rear windows don't go all the way down. Its safer that the kid won't be able to lean out. May I please know why its not good that it doesn't go all the way down?

Cup holders are too out of the way. Difficult to get your cup. Need grab handles. Prefer sunshade. Rather have kidney grills than lung grills. Other than that I like it.
From an actual owner, the cup holders really work well. Monochromic roof actually works really good(I'm in TX, and it works).
You guys are demented on this one. The screen looks like it’s propped up on the dash in a really cheap way and the grille looks awful.
BMW hasn't made a good looking car for about half a decade.

Like all the electric BMWs-and, indeed, most ICE BMWs as well, this is actually hideous. Distinctive or not, I just would never want to look at this on a daily basis. Nor am I of the notion that Hans Zimmer is a notably fine composer. 😮

BMW lost there way with style, started with the 4 series, M3, then the absolutely hideous 7 Series. The exterior just reeks cheap & non luxury especially for the price.
An uglier grill/front end has never been consieved.

I was shopping for a new SUV EV recently, looked at the iX but $84k for 315 mi's and 195kW charging speed did not stack up against a $50k, 330 mi's, 250kW charging speed Tesla Model Y, that gets the FULL tax credit, so my actual price is: $42,500. I bought the Model Y and couldn't care less about silly glass knobs and buttons, they're super ugly and outdated. BMW will never compete unless they match the price and performance of Tesla, or exceed it. I've owned 3 BMW 3-series' and have loved them but, I'm not paying an extra $41,500 for an inferior car but I am buying my wife a Model Y also.
Ugly front end.. could not live with that.. overpriced $$$$ thank will stay with kia/hi cheaper and better looking and warranty better.. bmw is for show!!
