    I have an LS2 swap. I bought some Deaschwerks 44lb injector. The flow curb starts at 53lb instead of 44. DeatschWerks said it's because the fuel pressure is 58 psi. And the car will barely run. When I set the flow curve for 44 it runs a lot better, but it's extremely lean. Do I need to do a MAF tune or a VE tune? I have a MAF installed.

    Hi, so I have a sloppy stage 2 cammed 2005 5.3 that I put a LS1 intake with injectors (12555894). I pulled down a Corvette/Camaro tune to see what the flow rates were. They are higher than the stock flow rates for the Tahoe 5.3. My questions are should I just replace the flow rate data from the 2000 Corvette tune to get me started or is there more I need to do Also, do I need to do anything with Pulsewidth in this case? The video left me wondering if the 1.05 calculation is needed in this case. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Keith

      You need to find out if the injectors have different data, so a good place to start is a factory flex fuel version of your truck. VE and MAF shouldn't matter as long as your injector data is correct, but it never hurts to go ahead and dial in the airflow to make sure it is running it's best!

    Hey Kyle, Ive added E85, to my 6.0l '09 G8 GT. I was told I should run 64lbs injector from my 42lbs stocks when I add the cam. Playing with the table I add the 1.05 but it flat lines at 63.5@ 58.0 delta psi, should I back it down so I have that linear line and let the map tuning adjust for the rest? I have the same set up as that 09 Vette in the video. thanks

      That's the limit on injector size. You can correct in the map so long as you're not too far off or boosted

    When you changed the column axis to PSI why does it go up to 11.6 PSI if it is a naturally aspirated engine? Or is this not a stock 2005 GTO calibration? 3:57

    I don't know exactly what you are referring to, i do know there is a such thing as "VOLTAGE OFFSET" that no matter what you do, if you do not find the injector chart from the MFG you are using, that thing may never be absolutely perfect..
    In the older OBD1 TPI stuff, it is under Inj Pulse Width correction vs battery voltage, meaning "HOW LONG" it take a injector to "OPEN" vs the battery voltage it is operating at.
    It seems (EVERY MANUFACTURER) of fuel injectors have their own "VOLT OFFSETS" thus if the computer doesn't know there has been change or the offsets haven't been changed to match the new injector voltage offsets, the injectors may never work properly as they are designed to.
    Is that what you are trying to offset for in this video?

    • @GoatRopeGarage
      @GoatRopeGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really, when you look at how fuel is actually calculated it is all based on the airflow calculation value, regardless of the values inputted into your fuel injector tables at the end of the they act as a constant that is then referenced against the calculated airflow value, which we calibrate using the wideband. So you can go in and completely jack up the injector values (Within reason) and then change the input into the airflow calculation to produce the results you are trying to achieve, is it the most efficient way, no. Having good injector data makes it a lot easier but I have tuned some of the crappiest Chinese injectors with only knowing the advertised flow rate without issue.

      @@GoatRopeGarage Oh yeah buddy!! OBD1 TPI has all those setting!! LOL.. Cmon.. The closer you get with every digit, the easier and better the tune is.
      Think of it like this..
      Your the computer, you have to take x+y to compute z, problem is you have done been told what x+y is, but they have been changed.
      No way you can pinpoint what "z" will be unless all the info for X+Y is exact as it can be, not if you are shooting for exact z or close to it.
      OBD 1 IS DUMB! Not a lot of room for all those cool stuff you OBD2 guys got.. Now we would (LOOOOOVE) a Holley HP etc that would bolt into place of our current TPI computers and OBD 1. Holley could make them, but they wont..
      On 90-92 computers, we are stuck with strictly volumetric efficiencies and P.E for W.O.T. The name of the game is to get her to be at 14.73 "STIOCH" which is 128 on a scale of 108 pegged rich, to 160 pegged lean.. A setting in what is called "BLM BLOCK LEARN MEMORY"..
      Now the real only choice for pre speed density is the 1989 MAF BIN.. It got rid of cold start injectors and has a more roust tune capability compared to earlier MAF versions. That BIN specifically the "ARAP BIN" which was in the vettes has the gsec setting for airflow, and unless you use the (ONLY) choice we have for aftermarket flow sensors the "GRANETELLI", you are stuck with factory which pegs out at 255 gmsec.
      Again, you OBD 2 guys got it made. Compared to us, things like "INJECTOR OFFSET" which is delays in opening/closing time compared to battery voltage can mean the difference between a perfect 128 BLM or a rich 122 BLM etc. So it (DOES) make a critical difference if you want it as close as it can be.

      @@jorgesalinas8876 might be an uphill battle if the offsets are off, but you can tune some injector sizing errors often just by going through the standard tuning steps. Effectively we are correcting the error in the MAF or VE table. Having correct injector data from the students makes the process easier as we will have less correction to do in the tune, but when we don't have all the data the tune will correct the rest since we are using error math to accomplish our goals.
      There is an actual calculation you could do if you knew all the values to see that on this point of the VE table, with this displacement, this injector rate, this engine efficiency we should have this AFR. Well we know the AFR so we can work back and adjust the VE table to make up for one of the values we don't have.

    Seems like it’s pretty straightforward to tune without injector data, you basically only changed flow rate vs kpa. If it’s that simple then why do people on the “tuning pages” on Facebook say that eBay or cheap injectors are trash? As long as they work idk what brand they are.
    Just got some today actually, for FREE, they are “mostplus” and manufacture number is M02A36, 36lb/hr. Got on Facebook today looking for info about they and EVERYONE that commented said to throw them away.
    Is there a way to make them work? Can I do what you did in this video to make them work for me?

    • @GoatRopeGarage
      @GoatRopeGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can usually overcome bad data, but I would suggest trying to find data that is close from a set of injectors that flow at the same rate, the closer the injector data is the easier it is to dial it in through the fueling tables.

    You didn't touch on the issue with many ECUs limiting that injector table to 61lb/hr. Early e38 and 40s are an issue with this. If you are going big injectors like 95lb you have to scale them differently. Btw, love the channel and I get a lot out of it. Thanks
