      How about expanding on this and talk about staged injectors vs 2k's etc. I'm still running staged and while I know they've gotten much better I'm still on the fence about changing things. Especially since it is a street car.

    I own a 97 corolla base model which only has the 1.6L with no valve timimg advancement . It's stricky a ECO friendly car. Most corollas have the 1.8L . So it hard finding perform parts. And the 3 speed auto doesn't help so I've tired many mods and one was does the 1.8l injectors for the 1.6L fit? YES IT DOES!! SAME CONNECTOR AND EVERYTHING!! the higher cc helps but you need to get at least a soft flash chip to piggy back your ecu to get the most out of this mod. Or else the stock ecu will just so spray the same amount but the chip will push it to the max. Hope this helps! 1997 Toyota corolla base 1.6L

  • @rotorblade9508

    the problem with big injectors is the car may not be able to idle if the required BPW is too low. It takes time to fully open and the ecm may command it to close before that resulting in poor atomization. One solution is to use two small per port (work with one at a time, ) another is to use throttle body injection, or low impedance if the ecm accepts. that’s what I’ve found so far searching about them.

My fuel system can't be adjusted..stock 2000 explorer 302 ..it has from 65-72 psi. I have ported twisted wedge heads and intake and a 220/230 cam. The goal is always proper fuel to air mixture. Which you have when stock. Bigger injectors only work better when the volume in the firing chamber is increased. IE- new heads with larger intake and exhaust valves and or new cam for longer durations. Things actually that effect combustion chamber volume. Cold air intake is not enough to warrant larger injectors regardless of exhaust. You’ll be to rich !!

Again I know one pin receives the constant 12v (or less) while the other side (pin) is the trigger to complete the circuit and cause the spray. Will they work with the power (12v) connected on either pin ? PLEASE ANSWER I will let you know why I asked !

  • @kevinwest3689

    🤔 injector size × number of cylinders = supportive horsepower potential. Example, V8- 50cc injectors- needed for supporting 800hp ☆naturally aspirated, boosting fights output of injector and pump, 10lbs boost requires 10 more lbs fuel pressure, vacuum reference on fuel pressure regulator add more fuel when needed and less with less boost say at idle so it doesn't flood, BUT this is all just a guess from a random dude in the comment section~VROOOOM 🌪

      @@calvin1510 So I ended up getting grams 550cc/m injectors with a deatschworks 340 lph pump.     • @haltech
      @haltech  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It all depends on what you're building and what you're planning to do with it. Best thing to do is to talk to whoever will end up tuning your car - they will be able to recommend the size and type of injectors you need based on the details and the purpose of your build.

    • @samspezza8328
      @samspezza8328 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are a few online "Injector calculators" where you can input your parameters such as fuel you're using, fuel pressure, number of cylinders, aspiration (n/a, s/c, t/c), and your desired horsepower, and it will give you a ballpark of what size injectors you need to achieve that power.
      Remember what Scotty said though, you should consider your injector maxed out around 80% duty cycle for reliability and longevity. However, it certainly doesn't hurt to future-proof and overshoot the size of injectors you get if you know you're going to add more power later on.

  • @user-nf3oq2ge3g
    @user-nf3oq2ge3g หลายเดือนก่อน

    Well technically speaking bigger the injector the earlier the desired amount of fuel will enter the chamber and give it a split second longer to atomize making them actually make more power, and burn more fuel per stroke. Science is awesome

    If you don't know what your doing don't go by what the parts stores say, most of the time your going to get the wrong injectors, go to the dealership and buy the actual OEM injector's. • @averyalexander2303
      @averyalexander2303 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A cold air intake won't make nearly enough of a difference to require larger injectors. Generally on an all motor build the stock fuel system is fine for at least an intake, header, exhaust, and mild cams. When you convert to E85, boost it or significantly increase boost, install nitrous, build a more extreme all motor setup with ported heads, drastically increased compression, aggressive cams, higher redline, etc, then you may need fuel system upgrades.

      We don’t know what ECU you have or what engine you are using, but in theory the answer is yes. If you size the injectors to take into consideration the extra fuel volume required to run E85 then it should run.

    Ive heard 80% duty cycle before, is there a technical reason for this number? my thoughts are that if i am running 95% duty but also at the top of the power/boost i will ever use then 95% is fine. The spare 20% only helps with tuning/tweaks and having spare capacity. It doesn’t mean 80% is safer then 90% ... change my mind.

      wrx2hot4u you will over work/heat the injector

    • @wrx2hot4u
      @wrx2hot4u 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nicolas Losito over work and heat the injector? and ... ? and what? also how often and for how long are you actually hitting peak? i would say not that long. Good Injectors are designed to operate at 100% duty.

    • @nicolaslosito5735
      @nicolaslosito5735 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      wrx2hot4u actually after a bit of reading I have found that you are correct. 80% duty cycle is usually standard because of air temperature temperature and load considerations. Running 100% duty cycle will not over heat the injectors since the fuel acts as a coolant.

    • @wrx2hot4u
      @wrx2hot4u 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nicolas Losito correct, and the only reason i know what i know is because a well respected tuner basically explained it to me. So running 90 odd duty is ok but dont ask for more fuel. You then need bigger injectors. It is always good to have head way.

    Does the injectors ability to atomize fuel as it sprays make a difference? I see how changing the volume of fuel would need supporting mods, but an injector that mist fuel more finely seems beneficial.

  • @drainmonkeys385
    @drainmonkeys385 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hmmm. Will they give you more power? Well... they are not the only part of the process.. what about fuel pump? Does your pump deliver the proper flow rate.. do you have sufficient air flow? Are you tuned properly? There are Many cogs in the wheel ...they all have to work together.... but if all your cogs are meant for the same wheel.. then yes

  • @andreasrosland1635
    @andreasrosland1635 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Say you have 300cc injectors and to tune for max performance you need around 400cc injectors(running at 80% duty cycle)... But you Might be running for example a bigger turbo that needs 660cc(80% dc) injectors to be fully utilized. Is it bad to run 660cc injectors then, even tho their duty cycle will be pretty low? Will it give you a loss of performance or worse ride?

    • @andreasrosland1635
      @andreasrosland1635 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So my question is really if you are going to drive like that for 2 years or so, is it worth it swapping injectors twice?

      @@andreasrosland1635 Most modern injectors work pretty well at low pulse, never hurts to talk to the tuner and see what they're happy with

    • @andersjjensen
      @andersjjensen 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the example given it shouldn't make much difference. But if you plop in 2200cc injectors you'll get a duty cycle so low that that you won't get a good homogeneous mix at lower power, which is why you often see big power street cars have primary and secondary injectors.

      Using 660cc injectors when you only need 300 or 400cc injectors is fine (As long as the 660cc injectors have a good spray pattern). The problem arises when you use 1000cc or 2000cc injectors when you only need 300cc injectors, you get all the downsides of a big injector when you just don’t need them.

    Air flow is the key, think of the engine as an air pump and then match the injectors to the efficiency of the air pump. Simples in a basic way 😑

    So you guys do actually know your stuff and then you spend less than three minutes on the subject when you could talk for hours. How about what happens when you have too big an injector, how you get a wet idle. How you match spay patterns per your intake and head. How tuning is done. How cleaning is done. Sharing this is not too much and we are all interested.

    • @haltech
      @haltech  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, we could talk for hours but the whole point of the Tech Tuesday is to provide very short and basic explanation of the subject matter and, if people are interested, to expand on it in a full length video. So if enough people comment requesting more info on injectors we will expand on that, much like we did with the Nissan CAS.
      BTW: We did explain the premise in the very first Tech Tuesday video. th-cam.com/video/J4C_PhdNx6g/w-d-xo.html
