    Seems I messed up a little and left in some audio takes that should have been removed.
    hopefully it doesn't take away from the rest of the video.

      It doesn't, although the second time I got scared and thought I was having a stroke or something as I'd just come in from the heat.
      Fortunately it was just repeated lines!
      Lovely video. Strange games, I suppose they were what was available.. Turrican! Turrican Goes Skiing???? :)

    I owned several Amiga models, back in the 90's, and always used a Zipstik without fail. They were precise, extremely reliable, long lasting, and had a nice 'clicky' feel about them. Zipstiks were pretty much identical in design to Competition Pro's, as many people may remember, but instead featured (square) yellow buttons. Yet another great joystick that deserves reviving, and would be, if I had my way ;-)

      There were so many with similar designs, I've ended up with a few of them over the years.
      some of them better made then others!

      The Terminator joystick (handgrenade shape) was the best and my friends did NOT want me to use it when we played Sensible Soccer for an example. Not long after they all bought Terminator sticks. The reason is it is fast because the controller is smaller and fits perfectly in your hand. I still have a brand new in the box (tube) never been used... and maybe it won't ever. These days i use this Competition Pro and have 2 Zipstiks and a Jerry in a box somewhere :-D WINUAE all the way!

    • @engelbrecht777
      @engelbrecht777 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@marinmarin7187 It is a bit stiff and bulky, so your hands will get tired playing games like SWOS. It is precise and feels like good quality, but i prefer a game pad for this. Maybe an PS2 or Xbox controller. Too bad they don't make the best stick for this game The Terminator Joystick 😀

    Nice stuff, man!
    I've got one of these tucked away which I keep telling myself I'll use when I get around to setting up an Amiga Pi build. Seems like a very solidly constructed stick.

    • @GouldFishOnGames

      Yeah it's nice to use, and should make a PiAmiga build feel quite authentic.

    Just tested this joystick out playing C64 Delta. Wanted a stick that gives you accurate minimal movements under pressure. Hoped this stick was the answer. And it passed with flying colours. For me it isnt stiff at all and springy as you described. 10 out of 10 for me so far. Next test is C64 Airwolf. Will it change direction and stop or drift, feeling confident. Nice one. Very informative video.

      I've heard from a few people that they have gotten better or in some instances worse sticks.

    I’ve just watched this and designed a variable speed attachment for that joystick so you can go as fast as you like on summer games etc without breaking the joystick……….wish I’d been able to do that over 30yrs ago and saved about a years worth of pocket money 🤦🏻‍♂️

    I have one of these and it works just fine until I open chrome and then it changes to an andriod controller and all the buttons are wrong. Support had no idea and no drivers will fix it.

    • @GouldFishOnGames
      @GouldFishOnGames  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      How odd, most of the games I had would happy recognise it as either the "speedlink joystick" or the "android joystick". The main difference was the mappings.
      I did find unplugging it and plugging it back in again would get it to switch back to the speedlink profile.

    I have a replica with more buttons that came with my “The C64” that, to be honest, is just too stiff so I tend to just use a generic replica SNES pad for games & my joystick in the UI.
    Great video, thanks but did you know you left some voiceover retakes in?

    • @GouldFishOnGames
      @GouldFishOnGames  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't find this one too stiff, felt quite nice but it could be different builds.

      if you go to the Speedlink website and find the joystick page, there should be an FAQ section that has a link.
      even though the rest of the page is in English the FAQ is in German.
      there is a bit that reads: "Spielepaket mit 25 Retro-Spielen:"
      and have a link after it.
      I'll put a link to the joystick page here, but they are doing work on the website so they might break it.

    I own the 25th anniversary gold version which comes with 50 games on a CD: 25 C64 and 25 Amiga ones. Been trying to sell it but not sure what the value of it is.
    I also am trying to get rid of a obscure Time Warner branded PC joystick but again not sure if it would go for any money even though it's probably very rare.

    Speedlink didn't make joysticks back in the day and isn't the original maker of the Competition Pro. Coin Controls made them in the early 1980s.
