  • If you are stuck in 4 wheel drive - you cannot select 2 wheel drive you probably have a failing 4WD disengage solenoid.
    The valve 4x4 Disengage (or Disconnect) Solenoid 4WD vacuum actuator is a simple diagnose and easy and relatively cheap fix for what appears to be a costly failure.
    We show you on our Mitsubishi L200, how to check, what to look for and how to solve the problem.
    Our videos help you find the content you need, without endless searching - Igniti0n points you in the right direction, with brief snippets that will not detract from you viewing the full video from the real contributor - we are here to promote them, not ruin your enjoyment.

      Perfect - ours is over 30K into its life from AliExpress - not saying I like them but we have bought from Amazon, spares shops and dealer - all as crap as each other quality wise - the dealer one was faulty from new - might as well buy the cheapest (the part is renowned for being rubbish) - as an aside, we bought a part for our Merc ML from the main Mercedes dealer - £$£ when collecting, it was a pattern part as Merc no longer made it he explained - exactly the same bag as the AliExpress pipe we had broken, but 25 times the price :( - we passed on that pipe as you would expect.

    Very helpful video! I own a l200 2004 and think I have some problems with the vacum pipes, since this didn't fix my problem. So if you were to do a video on changing those that would be pretty handy:) And as always, fantastic content!

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When we changed our solenoid it came with new vacuum pipes - so try replacing them - now or heat shrink some glue/silicon over any suspect areas to see it it is them (still replace them with new pipe (can get some tube from pet shops for fish tank pumps, its peanuts £$)- if not this, its the actuator - move the protective boot to each side and spray with a lubricant and fix it back in place, these are notoriously un repairable, so this might solve it, but it will only be temporary, so best replace it - let us know how you get on

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you have eliminated the actuator and vacuum lines / solenoid, test the drive shaft - jack the lux up and have someone hold the front driveshaft while you turn the rear shaft in 4wd, if the rear shaft won't spin without the front then you know the transfer case is doing it's job and it is engaging, which we assume yours is not - we know very little about the Hilux (or anything really :) but its a process of elimination - best of luck and hope its the cheapest fix

    Excellent and important video. Didn't understand, how could the 4x4 engage if you haven't shift to 4 high mode via the lever?

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That means Nath did not explain it correctly - so we will film another - do not hold me to this but the vacuum engages the front box switched by the two vacuum hoses-one to pull and the other to push-the default position for this is engaged, so any loss of air or failure makes the truck default to the 4x4 engaged state.

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the age - suspect ( we are no experts ) that you have a more sophisticated vehicle than ours and have a sensor issue - you need to get the codes read, the error will be stored by the car and this needs to be read - sadly you need really to take it to the main dealer who will have a vehicle specifically reader - although this will cost more than a independent mechanic but you should get an exact diagnosis which will save you cash in the long run - sorry we cannot tell you 😩

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds just like our issue - check the vacuum pipes from the solenoid for leaks, even pin holes cause this ( the default setting is 4WD, so an issue causes the vehicle to be 4WD and you struggle or cannot select 2WD) if the pipes are good, order a solenoid (ebay or alike ) really easy job to fit, its harder to find pin holes in the airlines if the truth be told, best to change anyway as peanuts to buy - hope you find it 🤞🏼

      If the solenoid is making a sound, cannot be 100% its still working, but if it is, then you need to check every pipe for the tiniest of holes - our Mercedes ML turbo was playing up, we checked everything over and over again - replaced a couple of sensors and gave up - took it to a specialist - they could not find an issue, took the turbo off and replaced it, same no power & limp mode issue - cannot tell you how much time and £$£$£ we spent, then by some miracle spotted the tiniest hole in one of the pipes, it was at an end, so chopped of 25mm and refitted, problem solved - unbelievable that solved it, could be as simple as that, but buggers to find - best of luck (soapy water did not help us either) - for the price, just change the solenoid, we paid 10 euros for ours on ebay ! then you know its not that

      Changed all vacium pipes. Found 4 little holes. Also tested vaciume relays, seems to be working fine. Still ingages 4x4 on its own. Whats giving the relays a signal to open and close? Is it one of the switches on the transferebox? When this self ingagement happens, the 4x4 light on the cluster comes on by itself. Running out of idees now🤔

    I drive a Nissan Murano 2010 and have had a similar problem. After driving about 8km every morning, the 4WD comes on accompanied by a squeaking sound as I attempt to accelerate. To get rid of the problem, I have to stop turn off and on the engine before proceeding. I guess it gotta be the solenoid issue

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Be under no illusions, we are not experts in any shape or form :) ... The Murano I believe is AWD so not like a mechanical 4WD as our truck - if yours resets by turning on and off, it's probably an electronic fault I suspect - this could be a multitude of issues; I am sure if you post on the NissanMurano.org forum, someone else will have had the problem on your vehicle and give you more educated help than we can - the Morano is a more sophisticated vehicle, so you could be spot on, but check it out on the forum and might be worth getting the vehicle fault codes read, which will tell you exactly what is going wrong.

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We are not experts in any way ! - the main point is yours an auto ? if it is, check out the transmission solenoid (electronic not like ours) - if a manual, then we could only guess (not very helpful) but 4L cannot be engaging leaving you in a neutral of some sort - get a really short video clip of you moving from 4H to 4L and what happens - then post it on the L200 facebook page or a page for your vehicle, someone else will have experienced it before, without seeing it in action, its guess work (I assume no error codes are coming up - ours is too old to have them :) )

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Affonso - We are not experts in any shape or form !!
      What I understand is; your system is vastly more complex than our old wagon ! selection is done via an electronic rotary dial -4HLc and 4LLc are locked out and require a downward press to bypass.
      On all versions, 4WD engagement is done via vacuum-actuated solenoids and physical linkages on the transfer case - you have something similar to us, so worth getting your hands dirty and checking all the pipe work is connected and has no tears or holes in it (you really need to look super closely for this as a slit (as we found) is 95% invisible and so hard to spot)
      Other than that, you have a load of electronics that could be the issue, if you have not done so, get the vehicle codes read, the truck might know whats wrong itself 🤞🏼
      Lastly, find the actuator (we have another video showing ours) and get someone to switch your system around and see if it's moving - that could be knackered if you have been in loads of mud.
      Best of luck - not much help sorry !

      Para ser claros, ¡no somos expertos! por lo tanto, la idea honesta es que no sabemos: al mirar las piezas (sin saber el año exacto y las especificaciones de construcción), parece que la suya es electrónica, la nuestra es manual.
      Si esta es la pieza, entonces tendrá que buscarla profesionalmente. en porque es caro (10 veces el precio de Mitsubishi)

    Is it common with the L200?

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I honestly cannot say - the tubes and sensor are quite exposed, so I suspect that has a lot to do with it - I was surprised 4x4 is the default mode, so it must be working all the time to hold 2 wheel drive engagement - but experts we are not 🤩 as everything it’s probably down to where you live, type of use the truck gets - ours has had a lot of dirt track use, so dust and debris probably killed ours, but it was a tricky one to solve - like most things it’s easy when you know 😂

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have changed the solenoid - make sure the pipes are on the correct way - they do not have any holes (even tiny ones), the pipes make a full seal with the connectors - if all good, then you need to make sure the actuator is engaging and not stuck in position - hope you solve it !!

  • @rao180677
    @rao180677 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just a detail: you won’t get 4wd just because the solenoid is engaging on the front axe. What will happen though, is that the transfer box will be rotating even thou you are still on 2WD which can cause premature wearing. So for 4wd to be in place you will need to have the actuator engaged at the front and 2H on your transfer box.

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  ปีที่แล้ว

      If the solenoid fails you are in 4 wheel drive, that's the default manufacturers setting when this failure occurs - you are not in 2WD.
