- Max takes a look at a Hyundai IONIQ 6 to explain its value proposition within the market compared to Tesla Model 3 and Polestar 2. With new incentives and thousands of dollars in discounts off MSRP from dealers, is it a worthy alternative?

love the non-tesla reviews. this is where you guys shine.
I really love my Ioniq 6 limited for all the reasons you mentioned--charging, controls, Android Auto, Surius XM, covered sun roof-not glass roof.
Good review. I’m not trading in my M3 for it, but I know there are those who don’t want Tesla for whatever reason. So it’s good there’s this choice. And your review covers it all, good and not so great points - which every single product made has.
Nice job, Max!
Hyundai dealers seem to be offering larger discounts on the SEL than they offer on the Limited. The SEL has better rear headroom because it does not have the sunroof.
I was sooo close to making this my first EV. The charging network ended up being a big reason I went Tesla.
As someone with a P2 that doesn't road trip much (unless it's relatively close, 1-3 times a year) I'll take/keep the P2 over this. Love the utility of the liftback and the google software.
I love my SEL RWD Ioniq 6!
Great overview. Thank you.
Can't wait to see the 10% challenge on the Ioniq 6.
Whatever happened to the 10% Challenge for the Mustang Mach-E?
The LRDM Polestar 2 is still my choice.
Ty Max, informative and nice presentation and review, and tons of info, as usual. For me, the more I watched, the more I loved my MYLR.
I do currently own and Santa Fe and a Palisade, and they are very good ICE cars, but awaiting an R1S & an R1Tto replace them.
Very cool. Nothing wrong with that look and style.
Drove the M3 and the Ioniq 6 is a better car. It rides better, it's quieter, etc., and I do like a few extra knobs and buttons. The Tesla's have better tech and charging network but since 95% of my charging is done at home or work that's not a problem. Plus, here in Canada Tesla is more expensive than the Ioniq 6 for what you get.
Price starting at 60k in Finland for Ioniq 6, no small battery option. Model 3 refresh, 44k.
You should really compare the ultimate (Finnish trim) to the tesla highland lr or awd models with some feature options picked in to make the comparison a bit more apples to apples, IMO.
Price difference also shrinks quite a bit.
Max, I love the Ioniq 6, and test drove it. I ended up buy the Tesla model 3 RWD. Although it is a really nice and great driving car, the price difference was too wide for me to buy it. Not to mention the public charging network. Got to add that I don't like Elon Musk's politics, but value of the Tesla model 3 RWD is hard to beat. If the Ioniq 6 was in the mid 30,000 price range then it would be at a more competitive price.
Do people know the politics of the ceo for any other product they buy? No. Silly to base a decision on that.
@@shou635because most ceos have more than 2 functioning brain cells. qElmo proves to be different.....
@@shou635OP ended up with the Tesla so apparently they didn’t base their purchase decision on it.
Elon is a centrist
@@lemongavine most definitely not. He has proven time and time again he's a right-wing nut job.
I liked it in pictures but in real life not the good imho. Only see a few here in sf bay area. Like 1 or 2 a week. For comparison I see 20 Tesla model Y in a few mins. And I am some one who doesn't like Teslas even though we own 2 of them. Competition still has ways to go.
Good vehicle and we really need more new sedans on the road IMO.I just find the front and rear over styled. Interior is fine. I don't know if the pixel theme will age well. We'll see. Hope to see more of these on the road. Right now, it's rare to see one. Polestar 2, depends where you are. Tesla makes the best BEV, Polestar the most solid car (based on Volvos), Kia maybe the smoothest riding one with the largest interior space.
Rode in the model 3 today back seat. Felt like I was in a lowered Corolla. Rather buy this and be comfortable.
A Corolla, at least the current model, is a smooth riding car. The Model 3 is much stiffer and busier in comparison. I have no issue with comfort in the back seat of a modern Corolla. The Ioniq 5 or 6 will be very smooth as well. The Polestar 2 is stiff but if you don't get the Performance Pack and get smaller tires, the ride is firmly absorbent. It is a firm, very Volvo-feeling car however.
@@benjaminsmith2287 I've seen the Ioniq 6 and it looks more like a full-sized sedan. The Tesla model 3 is more of a compact car. So, the back seat of the Model 3 was cramped, on top of that the back seat feels like one of those park benches they don't want the homeless sleeping on. It's so uncomfortable.
@@MrTekniqs I agree. Ioniq 6 is a mid-sized car vs. the smaller size of the Tesla.
i dont like the pixel theme on it, but i do like the shape of the car, really though its not a 2seater 2 door coupe so its a disappointment as a sports coupe
it's too bad the Hyundai IONIQ 6 is stuck using the inferior CCS public charging network.
Charge port overheats, research prior to purchase. Class action suit following from Hagens Berman.
where is it getting cheaper?!?! All Hyundai in san diego raisesd theirs!
Ioniq 6 is much more efficient than the Polestar 2 (and it appears that the new 2024 (RWD) Polestar 2 is slightly less efficient than the 2023).
Where are you getting info that the 2024 Polestar 2 is *less* efficient than the 2023? Everything I've seen indicates the opposite.
Ionic 6 looks to much like a Mercedes similar how Kia and Hyundai have done with ice cars
Not sure why you keep comparing it to Tesla model 3 performance. This thing is slow very slow compared to any model 3 Teslas. M3 is like 3.2 seconds. My MYP does 0-60 3.5 seconds. And it costs less than the top trim. I don't like it as it is bare bone inside.
Overall very good review, will subscribe.
This car is just too ugly. But I love the Ioniq 5. With the incentives, I would get it over the MY.
But if I were to do a lot of road trips, Tesla are the only way to go.
Compared to the Model 3: ... The rear of the ioniq is ugly. The interior design and controls are ancient. The software is laughable. The performance is sluggish. The charging network is literally a joke. The available volume is cramped. And it costs more. So, if you like to spend your money on an lackluster vehicle, knock your socks off.
Taste is subjective. I am happy not driving the same EV as 75% og the others.
@@alseboysame, I love my Ioniq 6
The worst part of all Kia and Hyundai vehicles are those screens. Could they look anymore cheap / plasticy? So bad. The colours to. Just screams welfare
