    I absolutely love mine. Frets, tone, and action were all perfect when I took it out of the box. In my search for an affordable 335-style guitar, I've bought a Hagstrom Viking Deluxe, an Epiphone Sheraton Pro II, a Harley Benton HB-35 plus, a couple of Gretches, an Ibanez Am-90, and a couple of others I've since sold off. To me, the Redid beats them all. The clearness of the tone, the harmonic thickness in the pick-ups, the ease of playing on the neck, and the true semi-hollow sound of 'air' in the tone, all add up to the best you can get versus a 335; for a ridiculous $159 (I'm a prime member, so shipping was free and the guitar was delivered next day!). My friends and I mockingly call it 'The 159' (our homage to 'The 335'), and if you don't like it, back to Amazon it goes with no problems. I half expected mine to be a waste of time, but I thought - what do I have to lose. Now, it is the one guitar I go to over my Revstar, Les Paul, or Sire S7. My lead guitarist has a $5k 59' Tobacco Sunburst Les Paul Reissue which he leaves at home now, because 'The 159' gives him everything he wants in his sound, without having to risk his 59' LP sitting in his car all day while he waits to come to practice after work. We both love all of our guitars, and they have earned their price tags when it's come to recording with them, but the Redid is truly on-par with any of them. It is not a guitar you compare using the price tag as your metric; instead, you need to compare its tone to whatever you're currently using. I would not sell mine for under $1500, because I could not replace it with anything less than that (in the event mine is a fluke, and I just happened to get a near-perfect guitar by accident). Personally, replacing it with anything less than an actual 335 is pointless. It literally is that good. I use alternate tunings often, so I've already ordered my second one, just to avoid having to retune. I've never heard of ANYONE buying a second 335 just to make alternate tuning easier. Not at $3500 for a 335.

      @@MotorRoseMusic 😉... If I can save anyone the time and money I spent on my affordable 335-style guitar hunt, then it was worth it. Good luck guitar hunters; I'd start here first. After my '159' (Redid RD-100), I'd choose the low end Revstar and the Sire S7 as amazing guitar buys for the price.

    I already know I'll have to do some work and change a few things, but for $160 that's a lot of guitar...
    Stock humbuckers do sound good though, very bright...
    And it's the perfect guitar to take on stage when I don't want to bring my prized Epiphones ( some of them are really vintage and valuable ) or my Gibsons...
    Another great video...

    I just got the orange one on Wednesday and this had excellent frets. Polished and no "sprout" that I could detect. The Firefly I received the week before had terrible frets with sharp edges and tarnish, plus there was actually rust on the strings. So after that horror, the Redid was a pleasant surprise. I wasn't crazy about the binding being on the sides only, but it's not a dealbreaker for me. Also, I always check the mounting posts for the tailpiece on guitars with tune-o-matic bridges, because sometimes they pull out of the body on budget guitars when tuning. Now if we can just get the folks at Redid to come up with a better name!

    Great videos on this Redid and the West Creek-----I was considering one of those while I was looking for a budget ES-335. However, I stumble upon an insane deal on a Monoprice Boardwalk in Natural Flame Maple last week for $65.62 (normally $249.99) with a gig bag and free shipping. The color is now discontinued, so I guess they were just trying to get rid of inventory---it's great so far. Just discovered your channel and subscribed!

    Nice looking guitar but, the fret issues right off the bat would probably scare me off from buying one.

    • @MotorRoseMusic
      @MotorRoseMusic  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, I understand that. They really didn't bug me while playing. It was just when I ran my hand along it as I did. I'm a bit more forgiving than some or most people. I do take into account the price. Let's face it, if this thing was as good as a Gibson ES-335 it wouldn't be $159. I have played guitars $500-800 that I didn't like as much as this and the West Creek I have as well. I do appreciate your comment and fully understand your feelings about the frets. Thanks for watching!!

    • @kramusic
      @kramusic ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MotorRoseMusic I would be the same way. I bought a Firefly FF338 with fret issues but, I will actually look pass that when the prices are what they are. Also, I am technical enough to fix those kind of issues as they are mostly a minor issue.

    • @MotorRoseMusic
      @MotorRoseMusic  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've been hearing a lot of good things about the Firefly guitars. They are hard to come by right now. I kind of view these new, "cheap" guitars like the Silvertone, Danelectro, Harmony, and Tiesco of the 60's and 70's. They became cool as time went by, but were thought of as junk then. Jimmy Page played a Danelctro and a Harmony. Hell, Stairway to Heaven was done on a Harmony Sovereign. Who knows if these will become semi-collectible.

    • @kramusic
      @kramusic ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I learned to play guitar on a lot of those you mentioned here. My dad played lead guitar on a old Harmony Holiday guitar and, that’s the guitar I learned to play lead guitar on also. Unfortunately my youngest sibling destroyed the guitar for some reason by trying to paint it but, it never was playable again after he destroyed it. I have a few of the budget IYV guitars I really like along with my Firefly guitar. The guitars of today are far and above the guitars of my youth for sure.

    I guess for $41 more you get better frets, you definitely can play rock on hollow bodies, just look at Dave Grohl and Noel Gallagher both regularly use the ES 335 style guitars.

    How does the Redid compare with the Westcreek sem-hollow in terms of construction and pickup quality?

    • @MotorRoseMusic
      @MotorRoseMusic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The frets are better on the WestCreek. Pickups ate the same and so is build quality. I like the volume/tone knobs better on the Redid. The pickup switch is a little clunky on the Redid. For the price, they're both way better than I expected.
