    I would like to thank you for making this video. I have been trying to a decent yield from my sorgrhum for a long time now. I was about ready to give up, very frusterating. I believe the comment about the pre-pop helped. While I can't say it popped as much as yours did, it was my biggest yield yet and I actually could sit down and eat some! Finally! Yay!

    Dr. Gundry said that sorghum is lectin-free and better than popcorn. This was fun to watch. I wanna make it now.

    Fascinating to know other grains/seeds(?) besides corn can be popped as a healthier snack. I want to try this with vegan cooking options. Maybe vegan butter, camelina oil, avocado oil, etc.

      Yes, any oil will do. Avocado Oil is one of my favorites. Camelina is awesome too.

    I've been trying to pop Nature Nate's brand of popping sorghum and having no luck. I've watched this video and still burned the grains. Part of this may be that it's unclear what and when to set the temperature of the burning during the popping process. Please clarify.
    I heard;
    -set on medium to heat the pot and melt/heat the oil.
    -crank to high when the pot has heated, watch until the oil is smoking.
    -still on high, add the sorghum grains and stir so the heat is evenly distributed and popping begins.
    -still on high, cover and shake every 5 seconds for several shakes.
    -when popping nears end (and this is where I'm unclear), you say something about turning the burner back up, but it's still on high according to the video.
    I really want to enjoy this snack at home with our own flavors. Please help me by clarifying. Everything else in this video is excellent instruction, so I feel the only thing I must be missing to succeed is the heat timing.
    I've also read that sometimes the grains are a bit dry to pop out, but that soaking in boiling water for 5 minutes, then letting airdry will also improve the amount of grains that pop. Would you comment on the validity of this idea? Do dry grains not pop as well?
    Thanks for the video on a subject it can be difficult to get good info about.

      Also, sorry about the confusion for the temperature setting; towards the end of the pop you may want to turn it down to maybe medium to extend the pop and avoid burning. May I ask, are you getting several cups of popped sorghum to pop and then it burns or not much to pop at all?

      sorry for the confusion...after the pan and stove have warmed up on medium turn it to high (or almost high) add the oil, once it starts smoking , put in the grain. I hope this helps. Nate

      Hi, the current Black sorghum that we are selling is NOT good for popping. Stick to sorghum that advertises popping, like OUR DIY Popping Sorghum:)

      Ghee is clarified butter, the lactose and protein are removed, it's just a super oil, very high smoke point and very flavorful. I just sold that part of my business to focus on sorghum.

      Yes, when you add the sorghum the oil should be on high heat and wait until the oil begins smoking.
